Hi Anthony, I can understand your frustration trying to get the Faller system working, its has very complex electronics that all need to function perfectly. I admire your perseverance and how you problem solve all the issues. It looks like you are getting closer to having it all running. Cheers, Paul.👍👍👍
Hello Anthony, Thats progress your moving in the right direction a few more obstacles to overcome. Don't worry about the wiring you should see mine lol. You will win the battle my friend 🙂
Hiya, Deano! While I am a bit miffed that the outer motors were not working, I am still more hopeful. I have ideas for why they are not working. In fact, I half expected them not to work because I was mixing systems. So, We will see if my ideas work. Cheers and all the best to you and yours!
What a roller coaster this hobby can be my friend! Totally see your frustrations with it and understand how it is to focus on the negatives but you are doing well!
Hi, Richard. In a way, I am back where I was when I gave up 3 years ago, but this time I know what the issues are or might be. Though the issues are different than 2020-2021. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Hi Anthony You can't make progress without few failures.. Don't be disappointed I know you will succeed. I think you should be positive because it works just the tech issues causing you a headache. Take your time buddy . You will succeed..you will succeed 🙏 Take care my friend
Hello, Mark. Indeed. Problem (mentally) is I once had this working, then I messed with it, and even going back to the original set up has been a series of frustrating problems. Still, the two main problems I have hit have potential solutions, so I just have to work on them and see if my ideas are right. The actual bus stops are working. The turnout motors directed the bus to the stop and the bus stop once it got over the stop motor correctly. I just have to deal with the height issue there. The flip is the outer turnout motors which are not working, but I think it is just the placement of the reed sensor, but it could also be the magnetic tape is messing with the reed sensors. I will try to kill two birds with one stone there after Arty leaves. Cheers!!
It really is progress, Stuart, but it is rebuilding... so I only see where it was and what I want to get back to, and not how far I have come in this particular set. (Not to mention, first time I installed it, it worked first try... then I tried to upgrade it, and that is when it went sideways).
Hi Anthony you will get there my friend you have made good progress. You will possibly need to do a modification to the bus station like you say but that’s only a problem for a couple of weeks the you forget about it. All the best to you and yours and catch you later on your live stream Andy
Hello, Andy! Yes, modifications may be required. We will take it in steps. I have ideas for why the outer turn-out motors are not working, so I will test solutions there. There are two solutions to the stop motor issue... again, lots of thought will go into it before moving forward. Thanks for the good vibes and cheers to all around you!
Almost there. 👍 It looks good when it's running. You'll soon see glimpses under my layout. Believe me, yours is tidy. 😅 Cable management is needed under a lot of layouts I'd suggest. Out of sight, out of mind? Creating a ramp sounds like a good idea. Maybe think about 3 strips if 1mm card of varying lengths, all ending at the platform with filler to create the slope?? I'm sure that you'll find a solution. 👍 Good luck with the final push. Happy Modelling.
Hi Mons! Yes, Almost there. I just need to get it that last couple steps. I have ideas, but I have to test and re-test! ON hold until next week. Cheers!
This was a huge moment filled with good and bad. Even a year ago, I might have been all negative and given up after this result, but I had expectations that the outer motors might be a problem for situational reasons. I am disappointed in the issue with the stop motors, but I fully know why there's a problem, I just have to decide on which of the two solutions will be easier to do and easier on the mind.
Hi Anthony, Is it better than before and if it is I am sure you will keep going the fact we do this hobby means we do not give up so tweaking is the order of the day. Its not for me you give thoughts but it me so yes please feel free to ignore me most do, some of the problems are the "road" surface can you not sand it smoother and fill in the big holes to the motors then for the bus hitting the bus station could you just slope the edges where you are hitting like a pedestrian slope that are everywhere here these days and yes do the fine tuning as you have said but keep going you will get there as more of it is working now than before it just needs time and after all you are retired. Cheers Robert.
Hi Robert, Is it better than before? No. I did have this perfectly running at one point 3.5 years ago, and then tried to wire it into a control module, and everything went sideways and I could never get it back to working the way it first did. So, in this video, we are looking for problems and found them. Are the solvable? Possibly... I just have to try each solution. As I said, if I do not get the automated things to work, I shall just run the cars in a big circle. The smoothness issues are not a problem, it is getting the motors to work with the sensors. Once that is working, I can smooth out the track and cover it with the road kits I have. Thank you for the support and kind words! Anthony
Hey Anthony, fix the easy things first. Get the blue tape and throw it in the bin / trash. Get yourself some decent tape for your requirements but obviously not too tacky. You can do this! You have the ability, knowledge and skill. Sometimes we have to walk away and go back and just do half an hour at a time. Please don’t let it get you down. All the best buddy
Hello, Anthony. The blue tape is not an issue. I was just explaining why a bus might stop on it. It was there to mimic the adhesive road tape I will be using. I am not surprised that the outer motors did not work, as I had expectations that this would be the challenging spot on the hybrid system I am using. I have a few ideas as to what that problem is. On the interior stop motor issue, it is just a spacing issue, and I will have to decide to shave some mms off the kerb of the bus island or make a subtle ramp. Thank you for the support and good vibes! Cheers!
The surface being smoothed out will see it running , but the big issues are 1) the reed sensors activating on the outer turnouts (probably just need to move them closer to the magnetic line. Secondly, adapting the bus stop curb. With the bus 3 mm lower than before, the front bumper is hit the curb and not getting the motor over the EMP.
Yeah it’s not there YET, key word is yet. The magnetic tape seems to be working well. Could you move one set of working sensors to the outside loop, so they might send the bus to the other set of sensors that make the bus pull into the station and stop. Then you might have one side working. I don’t know, just spitballing ideas. It looks like when the road tape is over the magnetic strip it will help. Even if you don’t get it working like you did before, it will still add a lot of character to your layout 😊. And remember if it was easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing. I don’t know to many layouts in our community that have a car system. As always my friend, thanks for sharing.
Hiya, Eric! Thanks for the vibes! I have a couple strong ideas on why the outer motors are not working. It is not about the motor, but the reed sensor and the magnetic tape. There are two potential solutions which should be easy fixes. Next week, when time allows, I will work on the adjustments I need to make! Take care and see you somewhere!
Those come preset. It is the reed sensor going into the table that is the issue. I just need to move it a bit, I think. As far as the stop motors, those are working, but the change in how I went from the Faller Track to the embedded design has the truck's front bumper hitting the bus station curb before getting over the spot that shuts the motor off.
I am not beating myself up. Definitely some positives, but problem solving, which could take a LONG time to explain, but I have to get these reed sensors just right and figure out how to adjust the bus stop with the "should have been seen" problem. Just keep trying adjustments until I hit a point and decide to just let the cars circle, if that is what has to happen.
Absolutely. That is part of the bus stop arrangement. I had it working in 2020, then tried to make it all digital... Now I am trying to go back to the basic set up, which did do diverging paths.
@@thesheq5023 At the time, I sued their road track kits. The motors placed at branch-off locations activate the cars with a special magnet you attach to them, if the car doesn't have the magnet, it just keeps going.
@@ModelTrainOutsider so you cant have different motors to make different cars interact? Like a fire station, bus station, drive through and have different cars for each location?
It is frustrating with most products now days, I blame it on poor engineering and just a over-all lack of common sense with most humans, the last couple of decades! (Dave).

I really like the vehicles on the Railroad .Very interesting
It adds an element to the layout. If I can get it working.
You will figure it out Anthony 😊 We have faith you can do it
Well, I think I can figure it out, but making it work will be... we... work.

The FCS has definitely been a roller coaster. Hoping I can get it to a happy ending.

Hi Anthony, looking promising, I'm sure once you smooth it all out with the top layer of road, it will run just fine. 👍
It's the outer reed sensors and space for the stop that seem to be the big issues.
awesome video thx looks good i like.😊😊👍👍👍

Great stuff Anthony..nice to see the bus and van running round. Almost there. All the best.

you have to fit the reed switch in the vehicle for the electrom magnet to cut power to the motor

It really is not the product, other than the reed sensors require very specific location and adjustments. I just have to do it.
