      Thailand sounds like it was really tough for you and your husband. That bite on your toe and the swelling in his leg must have been so painful. It's great that you learned about citronella from the locals. Making your own stronger version with neat citronella oil sounds like a brilliant idea.
      Crazy enough, I didn’t have any problems with mosquitoes while I was in Thailand. I wonder if it was because of the time of year I went-it was definitely the dry season. Thanks for the tip, and take care!

    The joys 🎉😂. It does take your attention away for a moment from pain but sometimes it just adds to it ugh. Nature allows you to breathe until you swallow a fly and so on. It’s part of the process of realigning your perspective. We camped for four weeks every summer in Queensland near some of the most beautiful beaches and it was magical but always we lived with guests from nature. And black flies loved the humidity. But I was very young and always looking for the next adventure. I have the ocean five minutes from home now and an area still more village than bustling city as home and five minutes in the other direction a beautiful gem - a national park with stunning views over the countryside in all directions. A very spiritual place for Indigenous people and those who cherish nature. My hubby is a New Zealander and if you ever get the chance to visit, it’s breathtaking. We lived near the blue lake, pink, emerald lakes and hot springs used by Maori to enjoy all year. Our first time together in a kayak and we flipped it into very cold water. What fun. Black flies are my partner’s pet peeve about the Aussie experience poor darling. The little gems in life that welcome you back to an expansiveness that is Australia, our home now is humbling and still takes one’s breath away in a good way. We camped in the desert in Saudi Arabia and that was just incredibly soothing after the craziness that was Riyadh but wow what an experience. Our wedding was in South Africa in Kruger National park - so much like Australia - the bush I mean. I was the fearless Aussie right at home, no fear - camped over night on a raised platform overlooking water hole with so much life - that we trekked to on foot❤. Packing up the tent a green mamba stared directly at us and left unimpressed lol. Our wedding was in a dry riverbed guarded for everyone’s protection. A Reuters photographer was with us on our trek so enjoyed the occasion as well. A leopard stalked us every night back to our bungalow which had a bathroom overlooking baboons and more. My partner surprised me with the wedding ceremony. I never asked how much it cost to stay at the lodge and it was worth it. So many fabulous experiences. And so blessed. And so grateful. Thank you for sharing your adventures. ❤ and allowing me to reminisce. 🙏

      Wow, what an incredible journey you’ve had! Your adventures sound absolutely magical. From camping near beautiful beaches in Queensland to living so close to the ocean and national parks now, you’ve really embraced nature’s beauty and challenges.
      I had to laugh at the part about swallowing a fly, nature always has a way of humbling us, doesn’t it? Your stories about New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa are so inspiring. The green mamba encounter and the leopard stalking are the kind of experiences that make memories unforgettable. Your wedding sounds like a dream, so unique and filled with the spirit of adventure!
      Thank you for sharing your amazing experiences and for letting me be a part of your reminiscing. It’s stories like yours that remind us how vast and beautiful the world is, even with the pesky black flies. Stay blessed and keep enjoying those breathtaking moments! 🌍❤️🙏

      You too. I feel your pain and the new diagnosis. It is overwhelming to receive such news but you are on a journey where we can choose to make the best of it. Easier said than done. How are you? And thank you for your thoughtful and caring replies. I look forward to hearing from you and through the looking glass is an apt name clearly lol. I think people are looking for what can help them through the especially hard times. Your channel deserves thousands of views. Your camera work and editing is far beyond so many other channels. When in pain it’s difficult to concentrate. I’m a writer and that’s just not happening. I’ve embraced painting. If you are into painting maybe share painting for therapy for pain. Get one’s feelings out. It does help and in a way heal. Thank you for all you do xo

      Thank you so much for your kind words and support. It truly means a lot to me. Receiving a new diagnosis is indeed overwhelming, but you're right, we have to make the best of it, even though it's easier said than done. I'm hanging in there and taking things one day at a time.
      I'm so glad you find my replies thoughtful and caring. Sometimes it takes me a while to get to them, like this one. Sorry about that. But I do read them all. It’s wonderful to hear that you think my channel and its content are helpful. Your encouragement about my camera work and editing is so appreciated, especially when dealing with pain makes concentration difficult.
      It's inspiring to hear that you've embraced painting as a form of therapy. It’s amazing how creative outlets can help in healing. Thank you for all your support and for sharing your experience. Take care and keep creating!

    Are you okay with your HR range when go for such hikes ?? After how long you would require to catch your breath before you trek further.

    • @tt_looking_glass
      @tt_looking_glass  26 днів тому

      It really depends on the day. Some days, I can't even go for a walk, much less a hike. Other days, I have to stop every few minutes to catch my breath. If there's no incline, I do much better, but as soon as there’s an incline, I actually need the help of my husband either pushing or pulling me, and we have to take several stops. It’s definitely a mixed bag, but we make it work!
