These are some of the most tragic zombies out there. If you really think about it, the Green Flu is a sort of rabies disease. The zombies are still living humans although be it very, very sick. They can't sleep only stop and rest for brief moments, they see anyone who doesn't share their affliction as a monster and they are in a constant stage of rage - which is probably why they are so prone to infighting when idle. When they are idle you can see how they seem as if they want to be left alone. I believe their infection kicks in every time they come in contact with a healthy survivor and their system pushes them to their boundaries in order to infect or kill them. Something in them pushes them to keep going even if they suffer some very fatal injuries, for example some zombies will keep running with holes in their stomachs that let their intestines splatter out. Their existence is pure suffering, so do them one favor and aim for the head.
I love how L4D2 is both charismatic, fun and funny, while it's at the same time atmospheric, depressing and tragic. Which means you can fit whatever you want in it and it wouldn't go wrong. Memes as special infected audios? Great! Milsim mods that make your game look like CSGO and CODMW? Awesome! K-On characters, audio, posters, songs and sprays? Sign me in! My L4D2 mod folder is literally a mix of these 3
I feel the L4D1 theme does a better job of capturing the feeling of the story in the L4D universe. The L4D2 aims to achieve that as well, and is reminiscent of it, but it seems to miss the original dark themes that L4D1 portrayed. We can see it in the l4d2 trailer, the characters seem to have a fun time time, somehow, in contrast to the l4d1 group, who seemed more in line with the atmosphere around them
I love how l4d2's soundtrack is a play on traditional southern music like jazz but is played in out of tune, almost broken sound that gives it a very depressing sound and perfectly sets the mood.
Fun fact: The lack of high notes in this song has sense in this universe since every time we turn loud music in this game like rock, a horde comes right away , so its probably far more useful to just do music with only low and long notes.
Played this during covid... I had the same feelings that I had when I first played it, a strange feeling of depression and hopelessness, something I've never experienced in any other videogame. Timeless masterpiece.
the fact that the infected are still aware of what's happening and can still feel pain genuinely makes LFD2 so much harder for me to play, i swear to god
That game just got that special atmosphere that make it unique unlike others zombies games and that's why it's my favourite zombie game ever and will stay my favourite forever probably, back 4 blood look good but eh i can already see that's it's not the same thing ( when we compare l4d2 zombies and back for blood per example )
When song starts u think its a spooky shit then that legendary loop comes its amazing that its really making u feel sad and its giving you the feeling that almost everyone became a mf zombie in earth and god died u can feel the darkness but also its making u enjoy this amazing melody
This song sounds like a last stand while in an environment of complete decimation and despair. I find this song relaxing and I just examine every zombie movement in this clip. Seeing how once a lively neighborhood is now conquered by an army of evil makea me feel sorry for those who died fighting these creatures but fascinated seeing the zombies go dormant in a place once occupied by people. This menu screen hits different since this area reminds me of my town with certain neighborhoods taken over by drugs, violence, and poverty.
once i started a campaign using hte console and i was in survival, it glitched the game by having the survival timer but i was in a campaign. When I walked inside the hotel there were no zombies, no guns, nothing at all.
Imagine if there were no any bots in this game, only you alone against hordes of infected and special ones I just feel sick when I imagine one character on the screen talking to empty places, like Imagine playing as Nick in the Dead Center and he just goes "Hey fat man!" or "Hey loud girl!" just making you realize that you are still alone and hopeless and may be getting crazy That's weird I know, but hey it's Left 4 Dead there's a lot of creepy shit in there
To yall saying bill is dead he actually isn't. Apparently he was taken by the entity a mysterious being from a game called dead by daylight. you can play as bill and it tells you when and how he got there
depressing the fact that they are still humans... but infected and out of their control... there is a line where a zombie says audible "run for your life". Like, there is clearly themselves inside some part of their brain, they just cant control... god thats so sad
I actually think this soundtrack doesn't really like, explain the infection, it sounds like humanity's fall. The trumpets are like humanity's last blair for help.
The scene here looks like its from a perspective of a dead survivor that unfortunately didn't make it out and this is the last thing they see before death finally envelops them
all i hear when i hear this song is dread. and not just one type of dread, every dread. all feeling of dread. hopelessness, death, hollowness. when i first heard this song on its own outside of the game i was in a bad mindset at the time. and all it made me feel was that my life was doomed, death was here, the sun was fading, both heaven and hell fell, vanished. all that awaited was oblivion. god was dead, people were falling, animals extinct and i am alone. thats how it felt. its notes, the droning, hellish out of tune notes graze ur ears whole the trumpets hit u like a failed war mission. it prefectly encapsulates that no matter what the situation is, when a song like this is playing, ur problem is unsolvable, ur are doomed.
Actually when im hearing it i imagine myself whit some friends standing on a pile of dead zombies watching another horde coming at us waiting to be slashed :D
