  • Total laryngectomy is life altering and impacts most basic functions including communication, breathing, taste, smell and swallowing. Swallowing problems historically have been overlooked or underreported because individuals were safely eating and able to resume oral intake. However, swallowing function and quality of life are drastically altered given the anatomical changes rendered by surgery and other etiologies.
This course will provide participants with a thorough understanding of the surgical management of laryngeal cancer, etiologies of dysphagia, clinical and instrumental assessment during the pre- and post-operative periods, and methods of interventions. Additionally, participants will view a comprehensive library of post-laryngectomy radiographic images and case studies.
Course is offered for 0.2 ASHA CEUs - 2 contact hours.
