Thanks for the review. I own and use two HK 9mm USP handguns. I love their durability and reliability. I also like that they are ergonomically similar to my HK 45acp USP handgun.
HK's (USP) are on the expensive side but once you try it you will understand it's definitely not over priced and are class above Glocks, XD, M&P and CZ's. Try one before you pass judgement I for one think it's well worse the cost and now hooked on it after my first purchase of USP Expert 45. Just try one and you'll not regret it. FYI: P2000 are great handguns similarly priced to Glocks but have much better quality and craftsmanship.
I carried this pistol in the german airforce as a primary firearm. The USP is excellent, it is the pistol you want when you go to war, it may be bulky, oversized and looking like a lego brick, but it works flawless under any condition. Only the Glock might be better for the life or death kind of mission.
a little older of video but point of interest: Gaston Glock planned to sell pistols for much less, but it was suggested to him that if he did people would assume they're junk and not buy them. Hard to argue seeing as how people always say glocks are overpriced but they still buy them. lol
Yes. In academic marketing/economics technobabble, this is called a "Giffen Good", in that higher prices actually *increase* demand for that product. In some high-end products, an insanely high price tag can even be considered a product feature (i.e. "do you have any idea how much I *paid* for this?").
Superb sidearm through & through. Own USP 9mm V1. Over 2k rds down range, not a single malfunction. Fine piece of German Engineering, and its just plain fn sexy!
I happen to own the USP V1 9mm....I love it...that quality is that of a Swiss clock...yes their expensive but u get what pay for...you guys can go buy a $500 Canik..yes they shoot...yes they can be reliable...however comparison to any HK can be well noted...get watcha pay for indeed...highly doubt your gonna hand down a canik for an Heirloom..
I inherited a USP 9mm a few years ago and I really like it. I own another one just like it in .45acp and the 9mm just seems to run better/reliably for some reason. I wish I could find steel mags for it instead of polymer as the .45acp version has steel mags.
Its been my primary EDC for the last 6 years. Not much I can say that hasn't been said already. In my humble opinion its the finest combat handgun ever made. The harder you run her the better she gets: -)
I love this pretty much the first H&K that I feel that came out that was very reliable and very good felt great in the hands and I love them the USP 9 millimeter the USP in 40 Smith & Wesson is even great as well and I'm pretty sure that H&K USP comes in other variants but I only had the 40 caliper and 9 millimeter so basically I love H&K love all their weapons!... So to me it makes no difference but the USP is one of my favorite H&K other than the vp9.... Anyway I could go on for days about all the different guns that I love and like in the way that they should and everything but the most comfortable full size double stack weapon of choice would be the H&K USP 9 millimeter!... my next would be a Walther PPQ Gen 2 9 millimeter... Then of course my last would be a Glock 17.. But at a clock so I only like the Glock 19 truly that's a really like my last resort because I really don't other than the Glock 19 I really don't like clocks that much altogether but you know to each their own right?!?!
From internal part quality this is the one with least "cut corners" things, just look at the recoil system! second in detail is the pin holding main spring way better than the roller pins of new models!! the only thing feel not good is the magazine!!
Not really but ok... I picked up my first USP 9 in the mid-nineties when it was first released, at that time it was not offered in 40 caliber Smith & Wesson
Darrin Stoneking flat out wrong. Literally do a Google search - it was specifically built around .40 and released to the public in that caliber in January of 1993. Moron.
They are definitely not overpriced and the reason why they charge a little more is because it is actually a very high-quality weapon... I own Glocks, Berettas, and sigs and to me the H&K USP line Superior to all three of them
You are paying for QUALITY. & NOT overpriced and yes, THE USP is the flagship. No more reliable, durable gun ever made than the USP as well as the MARK23.....PERIOD. Read WikiPedia information about the tests & trials this platform has gone through.
I own four (4) HK's, VP9, P30, USP 9MM, and USP .45. Both USP's models are Tactical and cost < $1200.00 each including tax. You can often get a VP9 for less than $525.00 when they are on sale. Unlike the GLOCK, you don't have to drop $175.00 into it to get a better trigger and sights. As far as ergonomics the VP9 beats the GLOCK hands down, no pun intended. I still own a GLOCK 17 but got rid of my to 19, 21, 26, 42, and 43. I would consider owning a Walther PPQ but I can shoot my wife's. BTW, you think HK's are expensive look in to Sig's.
Tumi the USP is the cream of the crop, don't hesitate to get one shop around a little bit and you can save a lot of money on a used one... Check out sites like Armslist and Outdoor Trader but if you have to pay full price you will never feel like you overpaid... I really like the Sig P226 and the CZ 75 but in my opinion the H&K USP is superior to both of them...
I do not like this pistol all that much. I mean it is okay, but it is far too expensive for what you get. The bore axis is high, though I could live with it. The rail should had been changed to a standard rail a VERY long time ago. I dislike the magazine release as well. Either go with a button, or go with a paddle. Do not go with a paddle the size of a button. I do not mind the standard button, and I do not mine the Walther style paddle. My favorite is the Ruger P series pistols for magazine release. It technically is a push forward, but I can snag and push forward, or push down like a normal button and it works.
That's probably because the VP9 isn't publicly available in CA. It has to be special order for a cop. I think the only available HKs are USP, USPc, P2000 and P2000sk.
Ellijah Smith I had a USP9 back in the late 90's. I had one stovepipe in over 6000 rounds, primarily reloads. I was very happy with reliability and accuracy. It fitted me, but I do have big hands. I'm sad I lost it in the Australian buyback.
John Wires I'm pretty sure when they came out, there was a huge number of safety/decocker variants available. Maybe speak with a dealer or an armourer to see if they're still available in the version you'd like.
It was NOT the first handgun with an accessory rail, but in the 1980s, it was as good as any rail in use as none of them had really been standardized. That This pistol was introduced in 1989. They could have, and should had changed the rail since then to meet the standard. I would explain why, but H&K to my knowledge has never told anyone why they refuse to use a standard rail.
Oh, they were not available for commercial sales yet. H&K has the release date of the USP but you are right. That is not when commercial sales started. Glocks have proprietary rails? Since when? Every Glock I ever owned that had a rail (some do not) had a standard rail that fit any 1913 compatible accessory. The only problem I ever had with the Glock rail was the single notch not allowing me to move some accessories forward or backward. It only had one position. S&W had a proprietary rail, especially on their Sigma line but changed that with the newer version of that pistol. Hi-Point has a proprietary rail. They might want to consider a 1913, though most people do not hang anything off a Hi-Point. The thing is already a brick as it is.
Now that I think about it, I have had one or two items that could not attach to a Glock because they required two slots. That is slightly annoying as I do not think it costs Glock to add more slots. They might have a reason. I am not sure. I also had a flashlight that would not fit once because it was too long. The back would hit the trigger guard but it was just a hair off locking into the slot. Everything else fits. My Walther flashlight laser combo fits (even though it is a piece of garbage) the BSA fits (function light, but not great), The Glock light (it better), all the Sure Fires, the bayonets, and even that company that I can not think of that makes a thing that wraps around and gives you a rail over the slide.
Uh, I'd say the USP line is most definitely HK's flagship pistol model.
Exactly what I was going to put... Very far from a basic entry-level pistol
Thanks for the review.
I own and use two HK 9mm USP handguns.
I love their durability and reliability.
I also like that they are ergonomically similar to my HK 45acp USP handgun.
A to hell & back handgun. Hands down the best pistol ever made. Pure quality! Worth every penny.
i own this model in .40. this is one of few designs that was built for the 40. its recoil is soft and reliable. love hk
Also in .45 its softer than a 1911.

i'm fellow USP fan. fantastic pistol. often overlooked. your video provides good summary of the USP. one of the best on youtube. strong work. thanks.
I have one for many years in 40. Not one malfunction I like the cocked and locked for carry
I carried this pistol in the german airforce as a primary firearm. The USP is excellent, it is the pistol you want when you go to war, it may be bulky, oversized and looking like a lego brick, but it works flawless under any condition.

I'd go ppq before glock
There is a long list I'd go for before Glock.
Im getting this very model on Friday. I can't wait!

Great review I have a USP40 and a USP45 and I’m very satisfied with H&K but I do want the USP9 compact however I wouldn’t mind a full size USP9

I know your comment is from 2 years ago but they do make steel magazines for the USP 9...
have you ever thought of making videos showing proper form/stance/techniques while running firearms? you have real smooth skills and run great drills
Its been my primary EDC for the last 6 years. Not much I can say that hasn't been said already. In my humble opinion its the finest combat handgun ever made. The harder you run her the better she gets: -)

For the size go with 45 ACP, if you are going 9mm go with the Glock19
Nice video! Appreciate your effort for this more detailed video. ^^
Its designed for 40 S&W thats why its a little overbuilt for 9mm.
Not really but ok... I picked up my first USP 9 in the mid-nineties when it was first released, at that time it was not offered in 40 caliber Smith & Wesson

I had one of these and it was a good gun. It's outrageous what h&k charges for their magazines.
CDNN sales and centerfire systems usually are reasonable on mags.
I'll get one when I cand find one
I got lucky, found one used but brand new. Very very nice. Tack driver all day. Love the light recoil. Hk fan for life now.
@@lkmiii5619 I found one. Yes very low recoil and very accurate. It's my new nightstand gun.
Missed these types of videos

Over charged I think not. Get what u pay for. Great video tho
Anyone care to share an opinion on how this compares to a P226 or CZ?

Man the usp may be heavy and built like a tank, but because of this it has very little recoil.
USP is not heavy. It is 27 oz unloaded. Glock 17 unloaded is 22 oz. M9 is 34 oz unloaded.
In agreement with you... I feel HK over charges for their guns... I mean 1200.00 bucks or more?? It better acquire targets on its own...
Rifles First Los Angeles!!... My cousin just purchased a vp9 for 1200... Lol and that's with a police officer discount... 🙈🙈
That's probably because the VP9 isn't publicly available in CA. It has to be special order for a cop. I think the only available HKs are USP, USPc, P2000 and P2000sk.
Marcus Hui makes sense👍🏼
lol time to move. Gunjoker has USP 9's for 600-700 all day.
I agree with you. Four years ago i pay 995 dollars for my H&K usp yet if you want the best you pay for the best.
But how does it compare to the Hi-Point 9c. LOL
USP or VP9 ?
Chris Hannah USP however I will gladly take a VP9 or VP40 if I can get it.
Keep up good work!
I recommend HKusp to 9mm to anyone buying their first handgun.
You have any ejection issues with your gun?
Ellijah Smith I had a USP9 back in the late 90's. I had one stovepipe in over 6000 rounds, primarily reloads. I was very happy with reliability and accuracy. It fitted me, but I do have big hands. I'm sad I lost it in the Australian buyback.
Got some Dodge Dirty in the background!!
Make yhe famn thing decocker only
Pretty sure they do make a version like that
Interesting....
Thanks man will look into it
John Wires I'm pretty sure when they came out, there was a huge number of safety/decocker variants available. Maybe speak with a dealer or an armourer to see if they're still available in the version you'd like.
Absolutely over engineered. Most durable handgun on earth
I put more than 2 rounds in my mag.s
Phenomenal Pistol
I love the design but it's too big for 9mm
>proprietary rail
No way, Jose.
Right? They should had changed that a long time ago.
Then look at the HK P30 or P2000

Because of H&K's past attitude toward the civilian market I am not a fan.
Dislike safety no need
Well, then Bob's your uncle; get a Glock.
This is over price, old school gun. There are better guns in the market like CZ , TP9 . Ruger S&W M&P and more ....
