I am not a collector but has always loved history. The older mans story about the coin his father found moved me. It also remined me about the time my father found a piece of amber along the beach in Sweden. I had just read about how important amber was during the nordic broze age and then i held a piece of the real deal. Those moments connect you througth time. I have no idea how I got this video in my feed but im glad to be reminded of that day. I wish you all the best.
As a recent novice stacker, I'm so glad I found this channel. My stack is only 11 ounces so far, but, I've learned so much over the last few months. I love these Harry's Coin Shop episodes & the Stack Like a Pro series with Yankee Stacker. I can't get enough!
I agree too. I love how wholesome these videos are and I think the only thing that would have topped the video off is if@@SilverDragons47 brought his 3 favourite coins along :)
In 1845, he was able to produce small pieces of the metal and described some physical properties of this metal. For many years thereafter, Wöhler was credited as the discoverer of aluminium. As Wöhler's method could not yield great quantities of aluminium, the metal remained rare; its cost exceeded that of gold…..I was curious so I looked up the history of aluminum.
Harry is obviously a successful coin dealer/professional numismatist, but he is also a true collector. Some coins are worth more than money. Congratulations for each collection shown and thank you for sharing.
I agree. I enjoy collecting foreign currency(coins). Got all of it from people either spending the coins or putting them through a coin machine (ie., Coinstar) and leaving them behind.
The color on that $20.00 gold note was pretty stellar. Most historical notes I'm not too big of a fan of, but that was very cool.. and so was the $500.00 note. Woof. The bronze Roman coin is really cool as well. I have a Byzantine coin with an icon of Christ on it, graded and slabbed by NGC. I didn't pay very much for it, but glad to have it. There's a few other NGC "Ancients" that are on my bucket list with icons of Christ on them, mostly gold. That magenta colored Morgan was fantastic as well! Dare I ask what that went for?? I mostly collect US coinage. My favorite is the 1901 MS65 NGC slabbed $20.00 Gold Liberty. I have an MS63 1907 as well. I don't really "like" silver per se, but I do have several in my collection. Lots of Morgans (mostly toned), and several Peace dollars. The Peace dollars are probably my favorite of silver coins (aside from the crimson/purple toned Morgan) out of the bunch, because it inspired the Two Face silver dollar in the Batman movies. Too bad I live on the East coast; otherwise, I'd probably be down at your shop... every day. :))
My grandpa had some really interesting currency in his collection. I know he had some confederate money from the civil war. I seem to remember him also having a $500 bill. Was there ever a $1000 bill? I think he might have had one.
@@yankees29 yes, they used to have $1000 bills in the mid/late 1970s. My best friend worked all summer in 1975, saved up his money, then took out a $1000 bill, went to a motorcycle shop and bought a brand new Suzuki RM125 with it.
IVE BEEN A COIN COLLECTOR ALL MY LIFE AND EVEN THOUGH IM NOT JEWISH,I THINK YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST,WISH I HAD ACCESS TO YOUR SHOP,BUT I LIVE IN THE PHILIPPINES NOW,I SPENT LOTS OF TIME IN OREGON,IDAHO AND NEVADA,IN THE 1900S
Cool series of videos with this shop . I hope you'll be able to continue. There is always something educational and interesting. The staff at the shop comes across very well on vid.
It was wonderful to hear Harry and the others talk so enthusiastically about their coins and currency. You can tell they aren’t just sellers but appreciate the hobby.
Around 1970 I worked at the Navy Exchange mail order warehouse in Yokohama, Japan. I was told the building had housed the first modern mint in Japan. The area had been developed in the 1860-90 era. So I think the 1 yen coins may have been minted there.
Loved this video.I enjoyed seeing the other side of the guys. Harry's coin stories moved me the most, but I did see the passion the others had also for their special coins too.
A great video! Things like an aluminum sample coin from the times when that metal was expensive are really fascinating! Please do more videos about collecting, you know some fantastic people to cooperate with on that topic.
Today I finished my first roll of silver and now own 25 Krugerrands! Thanks for your help SD. I've also managed a little gold and even some platinum! I like watching some of these videos but I know me all too well - I'm not a collector either and have found it impossible to save money via other methods yet I love to shop and buy stuff. Stacking and I were meant to be together. ❤️
The Japanese dragon silver coin from the 3rd year of the Meiji era has the most beautiful layout. The dragon and the sun are realized on the silver coin at the same time. AU92 is about 190~250 usd. But this is the market price in Taiwan
I could watch a weekly show-n-tell at Harry's... I think that would be a fun series! Thank you for your suggestion to the Whatnot store although it's addicting 🤦♂️ lol
What a great video! Very interesting. It's true that what some don't value, you might value a great deal. Also, you never know who might value an item as much as you do. Buy what you love.
Great stories. Very interesting and amazing! Can't top Harry's story, though. For his Dad to find that in the sand is mindblowing. I bet it means everything to him. A connection to his beloved father. Great great stuff 😭
I’m currently shopping for a t1 standing. Absolutely beautiful image and a great back story. Not to mention, my wife embodies everything that is lady liberty
Awesome video! That Dude Harry seems great, Was expecting a monster collection and he pulls three sub $400 coins due to sentimental and personal value! What it's all about. Great idea for a video.

yeah it was touching I think Harry teared up a bit. great memories! 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 yeah that was definitely a special moment.
Where did it move you too?
Rigth behind you. I see all the weird stuff that you dont want other people to know, And I judge you for it.@@billsmith130
Collecting isn’t always about value sometimes it’s about sentimental or personal value. It’s important to remember that
Well said man!
That is correct! I have a nice collection and my favorite coin is an 1853 Large Cent my grandfather gave me over 30 years ago.
@@rogerbarker2231 What you collect is not price, it’s true love
And important to know a collection is much different than an investment..
but you know Harry's got some WILD stuff at home. Very humble of him

My grandmother told me about the old 20 dollar bills, they used to call them horse blanket notes, now I see why I never saw one in person before.
yeah they are super big! 🔥🐉
@silverdragon47 i have something to ask if ther is a legit $500 million dollar coins in department of treasury in america that has a series of 1789
This is one of my favorite episodes! Such fun hearing about treasure hunting & the glee. THANK YOU to ALL.
it was one of my favorites as well! 🔥🐉
Yes.....Great Episode!!!!!❤❤❤
Great episode guys! Harry's story about the Roman coin brought a tear to my eye. Thank you all for sharing your treasures.
All I can say is wow! Thanks so much all of you at Harry’s for showing us this. What a great collection you guys!
Loved the "show and tell". Interesting that aluminum was rare and a precious metal back in the 1860's.
