People still constantly overlook the Kuhn wrapper is not only the fastest, but also one the few that support square bales. What was omitted was the Anderson Xtractor. I have no idea why, as it is part of the Anderson DLC pack, but nowhere near as fast, and more difficult to use, despite being self-propelled.
My findings in FS17 - using follow me: - Round baler with Ursus wrapper was slow, I never really paid much attention to the issues I was having with it, and as soon as the farm made a bit of spare cash I upgraded. - Kuhn round baler/wrapper (with on/off switch mod), this was quicker, but I did find that the baler unit was losing the follow me track, because it had to stop to transfer the bale from the chamber to the wrapper, then stop again when the wrapping was done. I never had the swath density to a point where the bale was created before the wrapping was done. But those two stops were a problem. Obviously 100% of the bales got wrapped. But then I got to the point where I could afford to update my entire baling operation to square bales... - Square baler with Kuhn square bale wrapper, this is the fastest on-field option, it's about 50% quicker than the combo baler/wrapper, but still not up to the mowers maximum of 12mph (9mph seemed to be optimum), obviously the baler doesn't have to stop, and the wrapper can sprint to catch up between each stop-to-drop. Depending upon swath density you can miss about 5-10% of the bales for wrapping, but a lower density will result in 100% wrapped. And of course playing with seasons, having to go back and wrap the skipped bales resulted in under 4kl bales due to rot (not an issue for vanilla FS or FS19 seasons). I would think that a round baler with the square wrapper should not see much of a slow down from the square bale option, sure the baler is stopping, but it doesn't seem to be a problem with your current operation, having the baler keep up with the mower - primarily because the baler can sprint to catch up between drops.
I don't think there's a perfect solution and the issues you've mentioned I'm sure to run into again but it was fun to see if there was much of a difference.
@@KlutchSimulationsI think the issue with the static test, is that you cannot guage the ability of the wrapper to keep up with the rest of the mowing train. And to do such a test would take time to perform each test - same field, same fert, weed, plow, lime levels. Then the telling stat would be how fast can the mower run, with the rest of the train remaining in the follow-me track. As I noted the separate bale & wrapper (using the square wrapper) was around 9mph, the Kuhn combo bale/wrapper was only about 6mph. Your static test showed that the square wrapper was the fastest of the 4 on trial.
Totally agree with ya, this was a simplified test just to see if there were any advantages to any of these balers and I think we have a couple answers now. Things will chance once we get in the field for sure but for now we at least know what equipment does that particular task the fastest...now the time to consider, well all the rest of the things that need to happen for the task to be completed and seeing if there are any other efficiencies we can find.
I hate to say it, yet I have pretty much given up on this. I have found a few mods, listed as silos, that will take the raw ingredients, such as grass, straw, canola, and chaff, and turn it into silage, pig & bio fuel, and Total Mixed Rations. For me in the past it is either working on a hillside with round bales ending up across the road in a ditch or tree line, or the square bales that can't be automated as much - separate baling and wrapping operations. The math suggests that with square bales you can transport about 128 kilo litters per truck load (32 bales x 4 tons per bale using an auto-loading 32 bale wagon), as apposed to just 80 tons or so using a loading wagon. So more trips from the field, yet the reduction in headaches, the convenience factor, and not finding the arcade feel to it a big letdown (hay, already the magic of auto-loading, why not this?), makes this alternative a real winner for me. Just to many problems no matter which way you go, even with CoursePlay and Follow Me helping out.
I love testing things like this. Efficiency is key. Would be interesting to see how the square wrappers timing stacks up alongside these numbers. (My guess is that they would be close to the 20s mark.) I know there were some speed modded wrappers out at one point... might be worth considering if they can knock the time in half.
It's on my list of things to do at some point but I'm pretty heavily invested in round bales on this Let's play. We'll see where we go. The balers are certainly faster!!!
the combination baler and rapper does work with follow me mod so you wouldn't have to rap separate at all saving alot of time, the other kuhn rapper is fast and also does square bales so you could upgrade to a square baler in the future and not need a new rapper, thwe mc hale are commonly seen in the UK tho. on my save game i have the kuhn rapper and a round and a square baler
I would probably use the Kuhn bale rapper combo last that way you could bale more while rapping at same time and not spending xtra money for 2 equipments
I've thought of this as well but I do still need the standard baler for just hay then. Not a big deal since I already own it of course but just something else to consider.
CJ do you have any other modded balers. For example a john deere over sized bale wrapper. I had that issue at one point and it was just a modded baler that was causing it.
When you buy a bale wrapper you must pay attention to the types of bales it can wrap, I had this problem at 1st myself until I noticed that the round baler I purchased was for yellow bales or straw bales, you want to look for a wrapper that shows green bales if trying to do silage, will show bottom center of screen when looking at shop equipment menu type of bales round or square, and be colored green for silage/grass or yellow for straw and hay... Hope this helps...
Yeah if you want pure realism i would take the mc hale, since i noticed it starts slowly then it gets some speed,in real life you should do that just to make sure its wrapping correctly but since you are all impatient dipshits go for the baler-wrapper combo
Yeah I’m using advanced cruise and I forget to fire it up pretty much all the time....then not to mention I’m a hand talker so well now you can understand the problems I have while making videos! ;)

Big fan of the Kuhn Bale and wrap combo. Awesome vid. 💥👍🏼👍🏼
It's a piece of equipment I haven't used much but I can see why you'd like it now after this test!

There's a stationary one for round bales from the Anderson pack that I prefer.

Really hope they put in the baling/wrapper mchale like the kuhn
There's a modded Kuhn bailer/wrapper that has a wider swath and improved wrapping speed that I use regularly. A must have!
Oh man, I need to find that one
I would probably use the Kuhn bale rapper combo last that way you could bale more while rapping at same time and not spending xtra money for 2 equipments

If I'm gonna wrap bales I always use the baler/ wrapper
@Klutch Simulations can you compare with new CLAAS wrapper?
Thanks :)
How do you make this
I think you should visit the mod hub and get a speed wrapper lol
Krone makes a baler and wrapper
none of the bale wrappers work for me,they all say bale not supported when its a grass bale, help me pls

I can’t get my bail wrapper to wrap them once they pop out onto the unit, any ideas to why it’s not automatically wrapping?
Same
Same
The giants terraforming tool is poor tbh. Needs a lot of work

Love that class tractor! Where is that mod available?
I post all the mods I use on my websites mod list www.klutchsimulations.com
@@KlutchSimulations Thanks man! Keep up the great vids!
