Some wonderful memories of these spectacular moments - and you can look back further prior to 1990 in the VFL era and there are hundreds of iconic marks to treasure, too.
I was there, second level, Ponsford Stand, behind the goal for the Allison mark. I will never forget it. When I am senile can’t remember a thing, I reckon I will still remember that one.
Not sure his mark was the best of that year, I liked Dale Kickett's specky against the Swans myself. The goal, however, is a genuine contender for the greatest goal ever kicked.
@@peterking7165 slow it down. It hit his hands and landed on his stomach as he was falling to the ground. I don't believe that's control....of course it's all arbitrary now.

How the hell did Andrew Walker not win MotY in 2011. Seriously. 12 years later I’m still bewildered.
Easily the worst MOTY has to go Abletts in 94 what a joke!!! 2011 was a close second as Walker was robbed 😡
Moorcrofts mark though, i cant think of a bigger reaction from the commentators. Screaming like someone got murdered haha. GOAT mark imo
Unfortunately, Moorcroft was never the same after that
@@pillwolak he got immortalised though as one of the greatest marks of all time
@@pillwolak He's still playing club footy. Kicked 7 the other day.
still cant believe the Krakouer mark got MotY over Andrew Walker's
affirmative action
@@mikeoxlong1483 nah Collingwood nuffies
Still can't believe dud a her was better than Howes in 2017 ....oh wait I can afl rigged it as always

Brad Ottens' was my favourite. What a hang!
Abraham flew in from the next postcode for that grab in '98' Reiwoldt at SCG was a true screamer, but didn't get MOTY.

Bruce, Dennis and Sandy calling was just the best
B.T.s call of Ryan's mark is one of the best bits of commentary of all time!!
Can't stand BT most of the time but he nailed that one. Ryan planned that screamer 3 business days in advance!
Nick Reiwoldts mark at the SCG would better any of the marks taken since 2016, but it didn't make it in its year.
Jimmy Bartel took an absolute screamer about a half hour after Reiwoldt took his too.
That Shaun Smith mark though!! God dam
God bless AFL iam best fan all time Aussie Aussie ❤🎉
i want to see the photo from the guy in the crowd behind shaun smith. Perfect timing
Modra's 2nd grab was awesome, the other 2 not so much. Must've been slim pickings for speckies those years
Not a Crows fan by any stretch but Modra's MOTY in 1993 still makes me smile. That mark was insane.
Was right there for that Heeney grab. Was a beauty.
Glen Archer features in two MOTY 14 years apart- 1993 and 2007
Tim O’Brien should’ve won in 2021. One of the best marks I’ve ever seen live
love Brett Burton 09 the birdman!
Huge drop off in quality as it gets closer to today
1990 Mitchel got mark and goal of the year
1990 Micheal Mitchell got the mark of the year and the goal the year, what a year for him
Not sure his mark was the best of that year, I liked Dale Kickett's specky against the Swans myself. The goal, however, is a genuine contender for the greatest goal ever kicked.
They dropped some 🤣🤣🤣
Not a Melbourne supporter but Shaun Smith's was best ,he got the ride the went again .The double banger
Maybe Ablett’s was jump on the year rather than mark of the year.
Nah. Mark of the century, and you’re a muppet.
Gary M... That should've been mark of the decade, oh wait, it was mark of the century!
Shaun Smith for elevation and Jonathon Brown for courage Chris Tarrants was a ripper too
This guy is underrated
Not saying Sampi’s was the best but it was perfection. Timing, height, in the hands and perfect landing. Ablett’s should be struck from the records.
Nick Riewoldt's was the best
i thought the bird man would feature more than he did
There was one at Footy Park & he actually stood on the blokes shoulders, didn't get MoTY tho.
brown's mark wins.
Guts!! Absolutely no concern for his or others safety...he did it a fair bit.
i dont watch afl, can anyone explain how its still a mark when they drop it?
just don't worry bout it
They've controlled the ball long enough for the maggot...umm umpire to deem it a mark.
6:39 That's a CAH!
2015 - Looked like Nic played for Hawthorn🤥
I cant believe nick riewoldts didnt get mark of the year. Honestly i would take that over most of these basic marks
Pretty much all the indigenous players’ marks. They just have that extra flair
Still maintain Gary Ablett's wasn't a mark.
He controlled it to the ground.

If the umpire pays it, it's a mark. Simple
94 Ablett didn’t have control of the ball at any stage, should not have been paid the mark!
No way the Ablett Sr mark got paid
Moorcroft is the goat 🐐
Good to see all the salty Ablett haters out in force.
Garry Abblet's wasn't even a mark. Spectacular yes, but no way does he control the ball.
That Ablett one in ‘94 was not a mark. Touching it onec, and then tapping it to your thigh before it hits the ground is not a mark. Just saying.
Go eagles 🎉
Always will question how Daniher won that..
Sam Walsh mark seemed out of place
Can't believe afl rigged 2017 and gave it to dud a her
no one remember Jarrod Roughead's specky and marks it with one hand?
Ablett's "mark", is not a mark
Old druggy Ablett's wasn't a mark
No way abletts was a mark. Never handled it
only hitting the ground made it spill.
He juggled the bloody thing...look at the SLO mo.
An over representation of Western Australians 🤫..... legends 😏
