Unboxing PRE-RELEASE Halloween Horse BEOWULF! NEW Breyer Traditional Model Horse

Today, I am unboxing the new Breyer model horse release, Beowulf! He is a pre-release for the 2024 Halloween horses, and I was so glad I was able to find him at BreyerFest!

I want to bring attention to the issue regarding the new Halloween Breyer for 2024, as I found out about a concern after I had filmed the unboxing. It was originally brought to my attention from ​⁠@learobinson4450‬ in the comments section of my video.
After seeing their comment informing me that the design of the horse was stolen by another artist, I went into a bit of a search myself and found several links, where I will post two here.

It really aggravates me that Breyer would allow one of their artists to steal artwork from another who does not even work for Breyer, from what I know of (Supposedly, the one who designed Beowulf taught a workshop on Sunday, but I won’t list any names in case they are incorrect. The wolf designs was taken by the model artist from another artist). Despite the original artist of the wolf designs getting a form of compensation for her work, as an artist myself, I would still be very frustrated with the company for allowing that to happen in the first place.
I also want to state I don’t believe it’s a “coincidence” because many of the designs are extremely similar for it to simply be up to chance, which goes into detail on the first link above.
I just wanted to bring attention to this, I love the model but am very sorry for the original artist of the design. There is a chance Beowulf may not officially be released due to this, however I believe that’s unlikely as they’ve made many of these by now and Breyer feels as though they covered their bases with the artist.

Breyer finally released a statement regarding this model. They said the original artist of the images was paid, which is a back door way of acknowledging that they were stolen by the person who was originally credited with the design. It’s also interesting to note that the person who “borrowed” the images taught a workshop at BF. She taught the Etching Decos workshop on Sunday.

Wow, thank you for informing me on this. I did a bit of research myself, and I’m disappointed in the company and the artist for allowing this to happen. I have brought attention to this on my community posts tab on my channel, thank you.

It wasn’t much of a statement. Just a response to a question on FB. It said:
“An agreement was reached with the original artist and the release is proceeding as scheduled.”
Since the original artist hasn’t said anything publicly it’s a safe bet there’s a confidentiality clause.

Dang. That’s upsetting. I honestly don’t know what to say. Thanks for doing some research about it. He’s really beautiful and I hope it’s all worked out. It’s not okay to be stealing art. I would be very upset if that happened to me

@@learobinson4450 I did see a post where the artist had responded to one one informing her on this, I’d have to go back and find it somewhere. She seemed pretty annoyed regardless 😬
