Calling Gregg a muppet is disrespectful to muppets everywhere & I won't stand for it, Herc.
😂
At least muppets are timeless and wholesome.
LMFAOOOOO
@@TheRoseBoy11 I think Herc meant it in the sense of the British pejorative, but point taken nonetheless.
All the other former USMNT player commenters have been treating Greg with kid gloves. Love to see Herc call him out and not hold back.
Yes thank you!! I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed that
Yes I hate that I have to go to independent streamers and such to hear people go off on this egomaniac moron for the stuff he does wrong. It's all lies and ego from berhalter throwing a 20 year old under the bus is disgraceful and disgusting
Yeah they need a good coach and this guy isn't it
In general too, I feel like herc says it as it as
You think Berhalter's absence and the appearance of a hoped for miracle worker is going to take the US to the level of France, Argentina, Croatia, etc.? Berhalter may be a convenient scapegoat, but the lack of performance goes deeper than Berhalter.
Thank you Herculez Gomez for stating it like it is!! Finally someone in the mainstream media is speaking like a fan, like one of us!
Thank you Herc! Glad someone in the mainstream media said this because it’s 100% true!!
Herc is the Truth. The most honest American soccer pundit. I knew something was up when after the Netherlands game there was a shot of the players with their families and most of their players were devastated, but Reyna had a big beaming smile.
My favorite American soccer commentator calling G.B. a muppet is awesome 😂 get ‘em Herc 💪🏼
This is the type of football media we need in the states! Pundits, journalist ,ex players holding coaches and the managements FEET TO THE FIRE on these type of issues.
Berhalter pick his lineup based on whoever texts him "Good morning Coach :)" on the day of a match
Whoever said he had drip was first on the team sheet
If Gregg’s “performance “ at the WC wasn’t enough for everyone to want him out, this has to be the last straw.
Gregg and Tata have to be worst coaches at this year's world cup. That includes Rob Page.
Don't let Southgate off the hook.
@@MrFakNo he's cr@p too. But a tiny bit better than those forementioned
@@encorefootball It's all about being politicians now, rather than being proper football managers.
US needs to get Gus hidink
YES coming down hard, thank you Herc! This is so NEEDED from mainstream soccer media in this country. Gregg needs to GO
"He is not a good leader" Says it all.
He tells Gio he isn't going to play much in the biggest games of his life then is upset that he doesn't have the effort in training after?????
Herc is for the people
Hercules speaking facts 🗣️
Greg’s never used the bench , he has LDLT and Gio to come in to create chances. Instead he put in Morris???? Ask yourself why did the team looked tired in each game in the 2nd half. As well vs Netherlands some of the players didn’t look sharp which is from fatigue
Herc still keeping it honest. Still one of my favorites.
He is speaking truth. GGG needs to go.
I'm not a coach and never have been but i feel like I would never tell a player they will have a limited role in the team because it risks what happened here, leads to affecting the players behavior and motivation in a negative way. Was Berhalter hoping it would do the opposite and motivate the player to do prove him wrong? Was the intention to be transparent? Either way i don't see a benefit to doing it. If i was a coach id make it clear spots on the team are up for grabs and whoever proves they deserve them in training and friendlies will earn them, level playing field for all and would motivate players in a positive way.
I’m guessing he knows Reyna would be pissed by not playing, so he was trying to manage his expectations… ? I think. Clearly it backfired spectacularly.
I’d argue that you end up in the same situation after the first game when he doesn’t start. Why not just be transparent from the start? I think you make some great points and at the end of the day it’s a balance
Always leave it open. Gregg saying this to Roldon is totally different than saying this to Gio Reyna. Imagine if he said this to Pulisic before the cup?
He didn't say thay he said youe not starting the Wales match
@@wally8338 The problem is he deserved to be playing
This is almost 100% Greg’s fault. But not for the reasons being discussed on this video.
He NEVER should have told Gio that he wasn’t going to play in the WC. I realize that Gio didn’t not respond as a professional should have. But Greg knew he was dealing with a young player. He should have known that Gio might react badly, which he did. Greg should have told Gio this: “Christian, Tyler, Weston, and Tim are ahead of you in the depth chart. I will try to get you into the game as much as I can, but there are no guarantees. So I need you to be ready to go at any moment. You are important to this team, so I’ll do my best to get into the WC.”
He should have kept his confidence high and his attitude positive. But Greg did just the opposite. And it looks really bad. Greg has to go. Gio will do more for this team in the future than Greg ever will.
Do you know anything about Berhalter? He is the most jacked up on copium person on the planet. Do you really think when he went over with each and every player pre tournament about their role he was not telling them how important he was to the team and what he wanted to see from him? The people dogpilling on Berhalter for reasons that don't even make sense.
Finally someone has the stones to say what has needed to be said on the airways. Gregg just doesn't have it...
Hercules speaks the fact that mainstream media is scare of we want to grow sport. We have to question these type of issues this how you grow fans and soccer culture in states.
Greg talking to a group and making an example of a player is down right DUMB. They would fire him in any other environment.
Hopefully this is the last we hear from Gregg.
Berhalter should have never been hired in the first place. Nepotism at its finest
Herc is the only person in the MSM of US soccer that talks for the people!!!
Who respects a coach obsessed with his sneaker collection, bounce passes, refuses to wear anything on the sideline besides a tshirt, and thinks he dominates games he loses comprehensively
We need more people like Gomez. Honesty is key to longevity and actually speaking your mind and being critical of the USSF is absolutely critical for making the federation fix their wrongdoings and actually trying to make the sport more accessible to more impoverished kids around the country. And let the marketing of soccer go crazy. I want people to know not just the MLS but European & other continental football worldwide. And let the kids choose a path of either football academy or scholarship/recruitment college like what other sports do for other star recruitments. I'm someone who's been a fan of the USMNT since I was around 7-9 (I'm 19 now) and I've seen the highs and lows of the team and how much of a mess it's been and seeing that people now more than ever have been worried about concussions/CTE in the NFL and other more "physical" sports, soccer/football is the way to go and it starts with making the game more obtainable to poorer kids and telling how wonderful the game is internationally. And people actually being critical about it makes me happy that there are others who are as passionate about this team as I am. And with 2026 taking place in US/Canada/Mexico, it's the perfect time to fix these said problems. The US MSM needs to think critically.
I never understand why they have this pay to play system in United States where it costs money to play(soccer) football. There is so much land in United States surely the kids can play in the field and the schools can put up temporary 🥅 in the playground so the kids can play in an organised environment especially for kids from poorer backgrounds. You got the Latin comnunity the poor white kids from the deep south Louisiana etc and the black kids are you telling me you can't nuture talent in the USA over a ten to fifteen year cycle. The average soccer player career last longer than the average American football player career due to the nature of both sports one being based on mainly physicality and soccer being physical but not as brutal as the NFL. It's time for administrators to do their job set up a national programme and delegate it state by state to find young talented sports star and develop their soccer skills from an early age ideally from five years old as a starting base. Now is the time. Parents are scared of their kids playing American football and Hockey due to CTE and concussions
@@199019852007 pay to play is pretty much only with soccer I’ve literally met kids that had pulsic and Reyna talent but couldn’t stay on the team because their parents couldn’t afford heck even Zlatan called the us out on it and they got pissed
@@stanleywatson6115 they got pissed off because deep down they knew Zlatan was right and those who advocate pay to play soccer are only interested in making 💵 not encouraging kids to play soccer. It is just wrong. I agree with you
What European team will want to give Berhalter a job after this drama he created?
Welcome back to MLS Greg
It's where he belongs..,zero pressure and nobody clamoring to get you fired. He can play bad players and lose by example in MLS instead of the USMNT.
This is the same manager who was called out by CP because he lacked ideas and needed to try something fresh during WCQ that had to be the moment where Berfalter had to go
If he’s not going, he needs to. Has to.
Gregg is stupid he shouldn’t of said something like that. Especially knowing how much unnecessary drama this will cause. He picks low quality players and drags Gio after we got eliminated to make himself look good. He still didn’t give a good reason why Gio has a limited role in the World Cup.
Glad someone is telling it like it is, showing our absolute disgust with this coach, proud of our boys they deserve better
Ex-usmnt national team player told me that all the players dislike Gregg and the whole coaching staff. I think Herc knows this, but cannot say it on record.
I love their takes because its spot on. I like how Seb tries to keep it objective but Herc keeps it real. Gregg handled this all the wrong ways. Its almost like hes done with the job and has other plans. If so, more power to him because the US team deserves a much better coach. Players like Gio is the future not Gregg. Hes had his chance and was mediocre at best. This team is young and talented, they can go much further with a different coach with experience and better leadership. Its the key to the whole thing for 2026, leadership.
GB got to the round of sixteen, which has already happened many times and this was the most talented WC team we’ve ever had. We need to raise our standards and get us a well known European or South American coach.
But they say no foreign coach won WQ.
@@maxmaxie1328 United States is different. We're all a little foreign haha!
I would takw the 2002 team way more experience and bettee depth
@@maxmaxie1328 only a few countries have actually won the World Cup and they’re all soccer super powers with deep pools of good to great coaches, which is something we don’t have. We need to import one.
@@adkads27 Alexi Lalas put this argument forward when ever some one question about Berhalter as head coach.
Keeping it real, Herc!
Mexican soccer needs more people keeping it 100 like Herc
Bare minimum Berhalter has to go but ussf likely wants to keep him.
His brother is his hiring manager. He’s not going anywhere.
@@carsonbaird7407 his brother is no longer in USSF
Thank you Herc.
I’ve said this many times. GB was never big enough to coach USMNT. He lacks experience and seems either a liar or naive. He took the golden generation and got some average results. He was also so stubborn thinking taking a super young team can go and challenge teams in World Cup. This team was never prepared enough to beat teams like Netherlands.
Love Hector and how fired up he gets
It’s ironic that GB was invited to Speak on leadership. Considering he did not show any examples of that himself
Thank you Herc!!!!
How many times more does Gregg have to prove how HIGHLY INCOMPETENT he is. There’s is a Golden generation of players and why would the corrupt USS and the media try so hard every time to protect a mediocre coach like him. Get a world class coach and the US will win the WC in 2026
A better coach is needed for sure but don’t expect to win the WC in 4 years time!
Herc is real man
Seb - if he used "this situtation" as his example for being a great leader... he is a worse manager than I thought. How does that story show that he is a great leader????? It shows that he is afraid of making tough decisions. He put the decision on the USSF, the other coaches, and the players.
YES Herc.... he is not a great leader.
NOTHING BUT FACTS STATED. GET GREGG OUT OF HERE
I think Herc is right about maybe the lack of respect for Greg. When you become the buddy buddy type it’s very difficult to be authoritarian when the situation calls for it.
I love when Yanks use British lexicon; it’s genuinely hilarious.
Because your lexicon is kid-friendly. Americans would have thrown F-bombs and worse obscenities.
Love your lexicon bruv.
@@ichigo2012hollowmask you’ve never been to the UK then, we call people we like cunts 😂
I think it’s great 💪 He’s talking about football, and we in the states just don’t have those terminologies for this sport so it shows he’s been learning, probably from the FC guys.
that lexicon is fire bruh
like Messi would say GGG is a "Bobo"
Beerholder says one thing and then does another..thats basically a definition of someone who cannot be trusted
Berhalter has some kind of stupid royalty to MLS. Let’s face it; the MLS guys were not up to the challenge in this World Cup. Why did Berhalter chose to go with MLS guys ahead of Reyna in the first place? And then telling Reyna to lie to cover up his poor coaching decisions!!!?? Berhalter must go. Hit the road jack ….
What word did "Muppet" replace 😂
Giovanna is 20 years old and probably the biggest prospect in American soccer. Even if he had done the things that are claimed that he had done, Burkhalter broke the rule by bringing out the dirty laundry out in public. You keep it in the house and you deal with it.
hilarious that Beerholder, attending a moral leadership council, demonstrates a clear lack of any kind of leadership by throwing his player under the bus and has the nerve to say he said it off the record
Futbol Americas is a great show, I truly enjoy it a lot.
Berhalter is a spoiled, naive, child who plays favorites and puts theory over reality. Even if he's right about Reyna, he's the Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Thank you HERC!
its the ultimate betrayel.
SHAMEFUL
Herc earned a lot of respect and authority with his honest takes on Berhalter. Finally, someone is calling him out at ESPN for his VERY questionable decisions on and off the pitch.
I honestly don’t know what the USMNT federation thought about appointing Gregg as our coach. He wasn’t even a superb coach in his MLS days. The U.S. deserves a coach with a bigger name n more experience. This team with big players deserve a coach with a big name, someone that has seen it all. There’s now a lot of coaches out there with big names that have no teams. Roberto Martinez, Luis Enrique, Joachim Löw, Mauricio Pochettino, etc. if we want this team to be the team we’re expecting with all this potential we need someone like those coaches. Not MLS coaches.
Herc, Thank You! One of the very few that will say they are not a fan of Gregg Berhalter. I really hope for the good of the USMNT, they replace Gregg with a new coach
"Muppet". 😂😂😂
It appears to me that Belharter, does not have the human social skills necessary to manage a big team. He crossed the line by singling out one player. My suspicion is there is a lot more to the story and that there’s probably cliques inside the locker room as well, some of home may be anti Gio.
Thankfully, Herc is being completely honest and I agree with everything he is saying about the substandard Gregg Berhalter!!!
Why? What type of Muppet does this? 🤣🤣🤣 you gotta love herc
He ain’t wrong tho there is a reason why he got sacked in Europe due to lack of attack
Thank you Herc for be honest and not suck up to USSF.
00:05
Herc being amazed about how 'US Soccer' thinks Football works
Thank u Herc
Way too many personnel issues under Berhalter, way too many questionable and inconsistent roster choices. And way too many Dutch players running free in the box. Never should’ve hired him, never should’ve extended him.
Seb just loves the drama 😂
The Gio thing is not the reason I would have fired him already. Starting Walkerzimmerman over Carter-Vickers is why. Versus Netherlands Ream didn't pass it back one time with the Orange guys backed in. Ream jammed it in to Pulisic on the left side. Netherlands countered and scored. Ream didn't pull it back because of Walkerzimmerman.
He was speaking at a leadership council, not to the New York Times. "Off the record" is a journalism thing.
The reason Greg got this job in the first place is because of his brother. He is so done.
Berhalter out
He said "muppet" hahahahahahahaha
Berhalter knew this would get out in his stupid mind he was correct about all this and wanted an excuse for his downfalls he is a liar and if the federation bring him back we deserve to never win another Gio is not even close to only player to have an issue with him
Berhalter is a poor coach on the field and this proves he isn’t fit for purpose off the field either. Fire him.
Berhalters coaching job a wc2022 was not just one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of soccer/futbol, but one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of any sport
GB needs to explain why he wanted to limit Gio in the first place?
And... this calls into question other players he's, if not flat out lied, hasn't told the truth about. His leaving Jordan Pefok home. His favoritism towards players who don't belong on the team.
You put it best and simplest - he's not a good leader. Beyond that, he's untrustworthy. Buhbye Gregggggg
Gregg really had to do one better and couldn’t just let Tata be known as the worst concacaf coach
Perfectly said... bonehead is so perfectly...
Honestly, Futbol Americas is the best soccer show out there right now.
A bit cheeky, tearing up your National Manager like this.
Greg made things personal. Period. He played his favorites and it cost the USA. It seems US managers have a problem picking their best players.
Well he made the next coach for USMNT easy
I guess when Gregg said Roldan and Long bring unity, he meant players that are his stooges
If I’m Claudio Reyna, Berhalter and I will have to go have ourselves a ‘straightner out on the cobbles’.
I agree with Herc.
Sebastian is such a Gregg fan boy. It's quite disgusting to see him constantly deflect any sort of warranted criticism toward Berhalter and disguise it as unbiased reporting. What a hack. And as always, Herculez is spot on with his canny analysis.
Gio kid just being honest said he was ready to play and berhalter gone crazy created all this drama and wasted this world cup
It feels like GGG said it to protect himself from criticism... which is just bad
The press was responsible from the beginning.
From what I have seen
GGG nut swingers : charlie Davies, heath Pierce, Lalas
Herc: huge pair
Apparently the Athletic article was coming out no matter what, is it possible that Berhalter tried to take all the heat before the article came out?
Gregg Berhalter really messed up
Herc speaks the truth.
The problem is that Gregg doesn't have enough coaching experience at a high level to even have material to discuss. He resorted to the most recent example. He seems to lack man management skills for difficult players and big egos...but more importantly....game management skills. His second half adjustments were absolutely horrendous. He will be perfect in the MLS coaching the Earthquakes or whoever.
Just when you think no coach could say something as stupid as John Herdman's "eff Croatia" comment, Gregg Berhalter says hold my beer.
Why they playing upbeat music while herc was going in
This is crazy, I actually agree with Herc for once
