    The sad thing is-you can find a Richard Stanley interview where he talks about Weinstein (recorded before the Weinstein story blew up)...and he did actually target Stacy Travis.
    (Like, trying to get into her hotel room at some screening of Hardware). He pretty much told her he would end her career if she didn't let him into her room.
    She didn't let him in-her career hit the proverbial skids. And that's Richard Stanley who divulged that story.
    Great review btw.

      When Color just came out i rushed to watch it in cinema (yeah, i love Lovecraft) . While i think its moderately accurate translation of original story to screen (not much of inventing new things here), i still wasn't very impressed by movie. As many stated, its kinda too much aesthetically similar to previous Cage's movie Mandy. There is much earlier movie, Curse, its much more distant from original story-wise, but i think it more impressive adaptation, more true in terms of catching horror element of story.

  • @joesmoe71
    @joesmoe71 5 років тому +56

    This movie has a REALLY bad ass robot villain!
    Some trivia:
    Lemmy was given a real gun for that scene, but while playing around with it he dropped it in the bay. They hired divers to find it but it was never recovered.
    William Hootkins completely improvised his obscene call to Travis. I can only imagine how hard it was for him and the crew not to burst out laughing! He also made up his "wibbly wobbly" song on the spot.
    Stanley penned a script for a sequel with both Jill and Shades returning but unfortunately it was never made.
    Oh man, he's taking a crack at "The Colour out of Space" Lovecraft classic next?? If there was ever a director for that, it's HIM! He ought to do "The Dunwich Horror" after that!

    Fun fact, Kevin O’Neil who was the illustrator of the 2000 AD comic story “Shock!”. Received a phone call from lawyers telling him to either sign off on “Hardware” or be sued. Luckily director Richard Stanley lost the law suit and had to give screen credit to O’Neil and Steve MacManus; the writer of Shock!.
