  • With nearly 300,000 units sold in 2022, the #ToyotaCamry is still the best-selling midsize sedan in America. The #CamryHybrid continues to be the fuel-efficient leader in the family with up to 52 MPG on the LE trim, this #ToyotaCamryHybrid is still one of the best family sedans you can buy, especially if you need the efficiency of a #Hybrid powertrain.

    Happy Monday everyone! We filmed this video at the end of 2022, so the 313,000 units sold was what Toyota did in 2021. The numbers are in for 2022 and the company moved about 295,000 Camry's last year, making this the best-selling family sedan in the US! While the segment continues to shrink, we don't think will abandon this class anytime soon and we will be driving the redesigned Accord in about 3 weeks. Stay tuned!

    I bought a 23 XSE V6 model in December. It now has just over 1,200 miles on it and I can confirm the seats have softened up quite a bit. Also, the V6 gets surprisingly good gas mileage! I've been getting about 25 city and 35 highway in a mix between normal and eco modes. I don't usually stomp on it or push it much because it makes enough low end power for normal acceleration.

    Got the wifey a 2022 Silver Camry Hybrid SE Nightshade Edition. She absolutely loves it. She consistently gets around 45 miles to the gallon. We test drove the new 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid & she still preferred her Camry Hybrid… even though you get the extra trunk space with the ‘23 Honda CRV Hybrid. She felt her Camry was a smoother ride than the CRV Hybrid. If you can swing it, go hybrid instead of the regular Camry. You’ll feel the savings and at the gas station for sure.

    Good review. These are very nice cars. We currently have two of the Camry Hybrids. The first is a 2021 Camry Hybrid LE. I’ve driven it 39K miles. I get 51 MPG with it if the weather is above 45 degrees. Unfortunately in May it was rear ended on the interstate and has been in the repair shop since. We have since purchased a 2023 Camry Hybrid SE. So far it is very nice but only gets around 45 MPG. The wider tires on the SE trim causes more rolling resistance which decrease the MPG’s. The Camry is just a great all around car.

    A few corrections are in order:
    This vehicle can go down the road well above 25mph on electric power alone, mine does it all the time. If the road is level, or downhill and you use light throttle I’ve seen it cruise at 45mph, even on the highway sometimes at even higher speeds.
    The SE comes with paddle shifters, not just the XSE.
    About that gas mileage… Driving from the Phoenix area to Sedona at 75mph and uphill I will get 43mpg, and coming back I will get 52. Usually, I get 47 when driven in town only, no freeway.
    Vibration from the engine: well, I guess if you are really using the throttle all the time while achieving 38mpg you will hear the engine, but driven like an adult you will not even notice it.
    Zero steering feel: I don’t test drive many vehicles like this tester so I will have to submit to his opinion, but what he doesn’t mention is the handling is pretty good. If you compare the handling to almost any SUV it’s outstanding, which is one of the things I like best about my Camry. Driven through the mountains on curvy roads this car is rock solid and gives complete confidence, at least when driven at sane speeds.
    Hard seats: I’ve driven to California and back and never even noticed the seats.
    This vehicle is kinda low, so getting in and out could be an issue if you are used to what sedans used to be, or if you’re coming from a pick-up or SUV.
    The reach to the front door handles are pretty far if the door is open all the way, it almost seems coupe like. (Two door)

    We have a 2022 Camry XSE Hybrid. Seats are pretty comfortable but the seats in our 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy are much more comfortable. We have taken our Camry on trips of 8 hours of continuous driving and the seats were comfortable enough to not be fatigued at the end of our trip. Gas mileage has been fantastic. Suburbs to mild city driving gives us 45-53 MPG and sometimes low 60’s. 75-85 MPH freeway driving gives us low 40’s. 14,000 miles in 7 months and we are VERY happy with our Camry Hybrid. I’m interested to see what the next generation will bring to the table.

    I have the 2023 LE Hybrid, which, I assume, has the same seat padding as the XLE Hybrid. Cloth instead of leather, but I think the shape and padding are identical. I've taken two 800-mile trips so far, and seat comfort was absolutely never an issue. Never thought about them at all, which is the best thing you can say about a car seat. In terms of the ride quality, the LE's 16" wheels with taller sidewalls gives the smoothest, quietest, plushest ride of any Camry.

I have 5000 miles on it and have the lumbar support on “max,” and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s torture when I drive long distances (300 plus miles) to visit friends and family. I was curious if the XLE would have better seats, so big THANK YOU for the review! I’ve driven both the 2022 Sienna and Highlander hybrids - my uncle has both- and the seats are much better. When looking for a 2023 hybrid, obviously the Prius is a totally different class of vehicle. However with the updated interior, driving dynamics (compared to prior gen), and power, how would you rate this compared to the new Prius? Or would it be best, if one is considering a Camry, to just wait for 2024 where the Camry will likely benefit from Toyota's newfound styling language and performance philosophy.

    • @ayushmalpeddi2793
      @ayushmalpeddi2793 Рік тому +2

      I think the Prius is the better option all around. Especially because of its hatch, better performance, tech/style, mpg, and price.
      I will say if you frequently carry passenger or commute on the highway a ton, the Camry will likely be smoother and has more rear passenger space.

    • @joshuab1707
      @joshuab1707 Рік тому

      @@ayushmalpeddi2793 yeah as a solo driver and potentially sleep-in-car-roadtripper the Prius is a no brainer. I'm actually thinking of leasing the new Prius for a couple years to leave my options open for a redesigned Camry though. I do enjoy the handling and driving dynamics of a larger midsize sedan, but I am more interested in a plug in hybrid which there is currently no word on in the Camry.

    • @slscamg
      @slscamg Рік тому +3

      The biggest downside to the Prius will be the skinny tires that hamper handling and braking performance along with less sound insulation. So if you do a lot of highway the Camry is the way to go.
