    I'd like to understand the affiliation with either of these countries. Why do we need to get involved? We can hardly govern our internal matters, surely opposing ANY conflict outside of our borders would be sufficient. How does this conflict affect our country? Is this perhaps a personal matter rather than a national one?

    Every party has members with many slightly differing and nuanced views which he accepted for many years. Yet when it came to this issue, all commonality is discarded and it becomes THE deal-breaker. Tells me more about Ghaleb, than the DA. He is more committed to his personal stance on the Israeli / Palestinian issue, than he is to resolving SA' problems. He is entitled to his views, but so is the DA leadership. I do, however, disagree with the DA trying to gag one of it's members, but then he needs to make these opinions in his private capacity.

      No he is right and you are wrong. The public needs to know these things. Support for The DA that sympathise with known racists and carrying out atrocities and genocide shows us the real face of the DA, in that it is the home 🏠 of the old diehard racists , especially the colonial settlers with their settler colonialism mentality who holds the view that their values and morality is better and higher than the ondigineous people. But the interference of the old order has to give way to as Ghalib mentions people that has more transformative and inclusive and nation and team building policies. Whether you mask it or not we know the make up of white people and we know their fears they harbour, but they must get away from this paternalistic way of saying and doing things as if they are of higher moral fiber. This man 👨 is just echoing the feeling if many South Africans that the DA is worse than the Governing party 🎉 and tries to hold onto the uncivilised West with their Colonialist mentality. But please stay away from Vorster and Botha style politics. If you are not racists then show us and don't exploit us.

    Selfish, lily-livered character. I don't believe he was just "fired" like that. This became a battle of egos at the expense of liberty. Being a politician has responsibilities, Ghaleb has hang-ups about aspects of the DA. As a senior member he should have known better that this would have consequences.

      That "flippant" & disrespectful part caught my attention too. One can understand a Muslim or leftist radical siding with Palestine, but by the same token one should understand that a Christian will side with Israel. We DO need to also attend as priority to our OWN unexceptable high murder, crime & corruption rates. Did he ever stand up to ban the song: "Kill the Boer/Kill the Farmer" ...shoot to kill?...which smacks similar to Kristalnacht, just from another racial perspective.

    • @deanchapman2302
      @deanchapman2302 9 місяців тому +5

      I knew John personally in his Durban North days. He is one of the more pragmatic politicians and actually went a long way in attracting me back to the DA, which I never supported from inception. Patricia de Lille and her equally self-serving partner Helen Zille showed a disproportionate anti-Semitic behavior that I couldn't tolerate. I preferred other parties with a more reasonable approach. John brought back reason, but there are too many within the party with their own objectives and the strong stance of John, at last, on this issue will earn him more respect than his predecessors.

I am not interested in Geopolitics and Israel and Gaza, If Israel wants to commit genocide thats on their conscience not mine. Not my business what other countries are doing. America vs Iraq and vietnam, russia vs ukraine, Congo's hutu vs tutsis. People do atrocities all the time. But in South Africa we need a political party to fix the country after being ravaged by crime and corruption, and i think the DA will sort it out.
