You have to respect the fact that HBCU bands can play a variety of songs without any music sheets while other schools are limited to three or four songs with a music sheet and most of them march with music sheets. Much respect to our HBCU's
HBCU bands roll in with a stack of music and are prepared to play before, during and after the game. If you aren't ready for that, don't hang out in the stands. You will get dragged.
I loved that florida state did did the fifth quarter with them bc most universities wouldn't have done that. So much respect to my Noles for doing that and the person who said bcu destroyed us. Yes in the stands but on that Field.....we destroyed them. Go Noles
We march a different show each week, so the directors make us use lyres so that we don't kill ourselves memorizing music each week. Plus, that tune we played was a couple weeks old, so they made us use lyres in the stands so there weren't any people half-assing the music because they couldn't remember it.
For Stewart its a marching band not concert band so music selection is different, they have tons of what we call stand music, usually play it when we battle other bands in 5th qtr. Or during games
The juggernaut of historically black college and university bands. However there are some others who are just as talented. Tennessee State University ,Norfolk State University, Jackson State University Southern University and Alabama State University just to name a few. And no I did not forget North Carolina A & T State University. To me Bethune in the band are like the Patriots in the NFL always on top of their game. Once FAMU took a bow THE PRIDE SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT! However there is always a band on the come up. Wonder who that band could be. Great job Wildcats.
Bethune Cookman's Band is outstanding with a lot of class and plays without overplaying. The only gripe I have is please get some stand music. You would be untouchable. Also, you guys used to kill "stairway to heaven". Change it up a little and hit everybody up with " a coupe of For evers" Chrisette Michelle
Watch "Ice cream man" by BCU on you tube. Tone and Quality....you are kidding..right?. I'ts like you just picked two things out of thin air to throw shade on BCU. BCU,, like all HBCU bands, are "show bands". They are musically good....and they are very entertaining. The Marching Chefs are your typical boring big college band. They can't compete against HBCU bands.
Mac Ross tone and sound quality? Did you even listen to BCUs first song? They had just as much time and sound quality. But they also had soul. Something that tone and sound quality just wont equate with
it actually wasn't a rude gesture at all... I was there all they did was left put their instruments up and came back to watch the band... they were taking pictures, dancing, all kinda stuff
I disagree: extremely RUDE FOR SURE..my best explanation the director of band of BCU vs the young kids at FSU this was sad. Yet BCU kept it classy that first song I can listen to all day them they rock the house. Stay safe
