We just adopted an Aussie puppy. He's still within his 3 day adjustment period, and he already recalls (no distractions) and checks in while walking with me. He's going to be a great dog.
I just got my 8 week old Aussie on Tuesday. I've had her running around the back yard a few times a day. She's so tiny I don't want to take her on the gravel road and walking paths where I live quite yet. Not sure if I'm being over protective?
I grew up with these dogs. they are beautiful, smart, reserved and great with kids and guests. they can be trained to a high level and can be great family pets. they do need a lot of exercise because but they are great animals.
You can know everything but living it is different you have to naturally have a flow of authority and love. But trust me, I’m sure you’ll make a wonderful dog owner! Dogs will match your energy. Just don’t ever give up on a dog unless it’s super crazy or aggressive. But I hate when ppl get rid of their dogs bc they think it’s needs a bigger yard, etc…….. puppyhood is hard and lasts 3 years. If you think he needs a bigger yard like walk them a little more. I dk dogs are supposed to be your family and if anyone is willing to treat their dog like family, then I think that’s mostly what it takes to be a good dog owner. Enough of my ranting! I hope you get a dog someday!
I had some problems with my retriever like pulling not listening to me outdoors etc. But after watching your videos it really did help me out with her, its getting better now. Thanks and appreciate you taking time to help us out. 👏👏🙏
How was it bringing him into the home n how’s it goin now bout to pick up a 8 week old Aussie in 2 weeks, super excited but super nervous at the same time😭😂
The Australian Shepherd that I’m gonna get in in about six days now is his name is going to be theeb but that’s what my mom wants to name the puppy and me and my brother wants your name the puppy chewy. I’m And I am also very nervous to get the puppy because we have no idea how to potty train her well I think my brother and my mom does
The beauty of these animals is breathtaking. My friend’s Aussie loves me…..and I love her. I want my own……but can’t bring myself to replace the pup that I’m already in love with.
Im getting one on july 10th-20th and im so EXCITED!!!! thanks so much bro, im 13 this year on the 25th and this is my gift ig. I am so happy ive wanted one for years
We had one for 12 yrs. Best dog we ever had. Most of the time , we only had to tell him once, and he he got it. Good Luck, Great choice! We just bought a New Aussie pup. Very happy🎉
@michelebarnes4059 thank you. I named him maverick! I hope your doing well with your pup, he's a blue merle with one blue one brown eye and he's perfect. He sleeps alot
This is a great video on how to think like your dog. I have great success with positive reinforcement training like this. My Beagle/Aussie walks herself. I put her harness on, and she just acts like there's a leash connected to it.
I just bought an Aussie today she’s a cutie but I bought her off a very horrible breeder she’s only 4 weeks, already got a docked tail. So I’m gonna be spending lots of time working with her.
4 weeks is too early to be taking a dog away from it's mother. Docking is most often done on newborns. Why would you purchase a puppy from a bad breeder?
Thanks for showing this!! Have two 1yr old AS at home that choose not to eat until the did some work. Ask us what they need to do each day out of the gate. Awesome dogs. Got them moving sheep already. Kind and loving, catch routines quickly, yet have their own minds about everything...
I have a 2 month mini Aussiedoodle but he takes on a lot from his full bred Aussie Momma 😅 this is definitely helping me understand him better. My lil boy is very willful, strong and intelligent. Thanks for this video.
awesome! I'm thinking about getting an Aussie myself in the next few months or maybe year (whenever I feel ready) and I'm doing so much research haha-- this is by far one of my favorite channels! thanks dude
i have a 9 week old mini aussie now.. he is soo well behaved i have started with sit and down and he uses puppy pads for potty. he has only had 1 accident and it was my fault i forgot to put another pad down. we have a full size aussie and a mutt for him to play with.
I have an ausi shepherd mix supposedly her eyes are all brown and she has a full ? Tail. Very intelligent. The added meme is epic thank you so much I learned a lot
"And that his dinner right there", wow that makes a lot of sense actually. I didn't grasp that when you were talking about the free food in bowl thing until you said that. That seems like a good way to train a dog. Not just give them a bowl of food and instead feed them through the training. But what about the idea that the dog is only doing what you want for the food? Like using any treats for training? What happens when the dog decides it doesn't want to do it when you don't have the food?
You are so funny! " Dinner and a show", "Your Dog is on welfare".. you have me laughing. I don't have a dog, but I subscribed months ago after I watched a video. One day I hope to adopt another pup.
update on my aussie 14 weeks 17.4 pounds he still cant go too many places due to his shots not being done yet... i have been doing recalls and stuff with him and my almost 4yr old mutt i think he learns by watching her but he also does it just him. he is on partial welfare..lol he has to eat 3 times a day due to being underweight when we first got him but his 3rd meal is training so he sleeps good at night. i also use kong toys and fill it with food and let him earn alteast 1 other meal by playing. the clicker used to scare him he has gotten used to it but i make sure i have chicken or something to make sure he wants the treat instead of being scared. he is a typical male food wins lol
Can you show me how to train my 7 year old dog to walk on a treadmill. (Only for super bad weather days.). She’s prettified of the treadmill, but did very well on an underwater treadmill a few times after knee surgery.
I’m using your suggestions I have Australian shepherd beagle mix female who’s 6yr old I got from the humane society she was there about 4 months she’s a handful
Just got an 8 week old Aussie pup two days ago. She hasn't had one accident in the house so far. Goes outside or uses newspaper. Any tips teaching her to fetch? We have a small softish ball I got at pet store. Any tips as well to distract her from trying to eat her feces afyer she goes outside?
I am actually about to get my first Aussie and I was curious, what age would you start training different things? Also, how can I teach the pup to not herd my toddler? Lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂 just got one and my 1 yr old and 4 ur old just jump on the couch to avoid him. It’s hilarious due to as soon as they run he gets up and starts trying to move them😂 If they walk he doesn’t even bother😅
I have a 50/40 pit aussie she about the same size as the dog your trainer here. I was how to get her to drop the ball when we play fetch. She love’s running after the ball then running away from me when i call for it.
Did I understand correctly that the only food Paris gets is during training? So, to keep a dog in training "off welfare" they dont get a meal; there entire day's food comes during training? Great video!
What length of lead line do you recommend for this training? I have a 6 year old mix that needs recall training and we're getting an Australian shepherd puppy in a few weeks. I'd like to work with them both on this.
I have 2 month old Aussie and she is bad already, Im trying teach her how to not chew on everything and potty training its hard. I have treats but Im definitely scared for her eat out my hand she nibble allot. So I put it on ground(think I'm messing up)🤔☹
I have two beautiful aussie girls... One red merle with blue eyes, and blue merle with one brown eye and one blue eye. They both a much longer coat than this one.
We have a 1 year old and 2 mo old aussie, you talked about dogs being on welfare, how do you keep them “off of welfare” after they’re fully trained? Being “city folk” ours will not be herding dogs or really a working dog of any sort.
Simply put they still have to "Work" before each feeding. Can be easy commands after placing the food ... like sit, down/stay, then break or free when you're ready for them to eat.

I’m getting an Aussie on Friday. This is 100% what I’m following in training her. This video hyped me up and got me motivated as can be! Thank you!
I grew up with these dogs. they are beautiful, smart, reserved and great with kids and guests. they can be trained to a high level and can be great family pets. they do need a lot of exercise because but they are great animals.
I love the personality of shepherd dogs. My aussie is very playful and he loves other people (a little too much)
I'll be adopting an aussie in a few months. This guy was so smart right off the bat. I'm very excited.
i don't have a dog, never owned one but I am enjoying your videos. Someday, if i do get a dog at least i won't be so clueless.
I wish I was in your shoes and watched these videos before I got a dog lol

Great video. Thank you.

My Mini Texas Heeler( Australian Shepherd x Australian Cattle dog)is a joy😊.
My girl is so dang smart. I love watching her outsmart her GSD brother (younger) and my husband. It’s hilarious.
I just bought an Aussie today she’s a cutie but I bought her off a very horrible breeder she’s only 4 weeks, already got a docked tail. So I’m gonna be spending lots of time working with her.
Aussies are born without tails. They aren’t always docked

Planning to get a Collie sometime soon, and I hope I can teach her to help with the cows.
Any recommendations on vids how to teach herding dogs?
Thank you, helped so much with my Collie. Every dog is different but great video.

I do the recall game with my daughter and our Aussie he loves it!
Outstanding! Thank you!
Thank you
Omg ! I didn’t know you guys knew each other I love both of your videos 😂
Thanks for this video. I’m getting an AS puppy soon and this is a very unique way to train.
Awesome content as always!
Thank you

I just adopted a 5 yrs old Australian Shepherd, ACD, Beagle
I have an ausi shepherd mix supposedly her eyes are all brown and she has a full ? Tail. Very intelligent. The added meme is epic thank you so much I learned a lot
A.U.S.S.I.E. When is your Aussie shepherd mixes name?
My Aussie also has a full tail
My Aussie was born without a tail.
Thank You.
That dog is unbelievably smart, it blows my mind

I’m going to get a Aussie shepherd in 7 days.🐶
Ours just got here 4 days ago! She is Aurora. Hows your addition?!
What a remarkable dog !
this method worked!!!! Thankyou!!!!:)
instead of using the clicker can I use a word of affirmation like a high pitched yes? or does the clicker have more benefits than verbal praise?
We have a 2 - or 3 months old Australian shepherd pitbull mix. Do you have any suggestions on how to train that breed?
Awesome video- just wondering about the purpose of the clicker?
My left ear loved this video
Thank you. For real
Very nice, thanks for sharing!
Awsome video 📹. I'm about to get a australian shepherd border collie mix and excited for the training and companionship
Thank you
Love your work thanks for sharing!
The co-host is a 🦝 for this.
Do you need a clicker to be effective or can the session be as effective without it?
Can you explain when you prefer clicker and when verbal marker?
And also why you sometimes use one click and double click?
Great video idea
@@AmericanStandardK9 Awesome idea. I'll be pleasure to watch it.

Don't have a dog right now, can't even get a dog right now but I had to click because pupper.
Oh how I wish you fellas were in NYC
Incredible Contant how many times per day can you do this type of training and for what types of durations?

What if mine still gets distracted and doesn’t care for the treat anymore
I’m using your suggestions I have Australian shepherd beagle mix female who’s 6yr old I got from the humane society she was there about 4 months she’s a handful
He's so cute fast learner.
What a great video!
Wow thank you for making these so easy to understand I truly appreciate the knowledge
this is beautiful to watch!
Amazing video as always! One quick question? How many sessions per day do you recomend? Thank you!!!

OK this is a very different training method then I've seen. How will the dog associate the actions you want without verbal cue?
I love your food analogies. Lol😂😂😂
You guys should have made the left and right Chanels stereo
Dang you guys are genius and hilarious
My aussie is a year old should i stop givin him food and start doin this?
I'm the first 1 again... True fan lol
Thank you sir
Did I understand correctly that the only food Paris gets is during training? So, to keep a dog in training "off welfare" they dont get a meal; there entire day's food comes during training? Great video!
Does anyone know what finger clicker they use? I looked in their training items page and I couldn't find the clicker
Wondering the same. Can’t find it.
That Supra in the back tho
Confident dogs are easier to train. My mini Aussie is one. She learned to use dog door under 5 mins
What do the clickers do?
Don’t drop food on the floor”
Instantly says “free” and throws food on the floor.
Recall is always confusing to me. This simplifies it so much!
🙏🏼
What length of lead line do you recommend for this training? I have a 6 year old mix that needs recall training and we're getting an Australian shepherd puppy in a few weeks. I'd like to work with them both on this.
What leash are you useing, where can I find it?
all of our training products are listed here www.amazon.com/shop/americanstandarddogtraining
Hello I just got my 8 weeks old mini Australian shepherd and I wanted to know if my dog is not food motivated how do I train him?
so that means we dont feed unless training?
Curious on this as well.
No, what you can do is a basic sit stay free thing with the meals that works too
Yes, it also helps create a better bond with you and your dog. You need to be the most important thing to your dog over everything else.
Anyway to get my dog used to other dog if you don't know anyone with friendly dogs
Mine won't do anything unless he gets a treat. I want him to listen without one. So what's the point here.
I have 2 month old Aussie and she is bad already, Im trying teach her how to not chew on everything and potty training its hard. I have treats but Im definitely scared for her eat out my hand she nibble allot. So I put it on ground(think I'm messing up)🤔☹
Use the word "yes" instead of the clicker
👍❤️
How old was the Aussie there?
nice , but my aussie das not take anny food when we are training
Helps Border for a leave it the walk with you.
I have two beautiful aussie girls... One red merle with blue eyes, and blue merle with one brown eye and one blue eye. They both a much longer coat than this one.
Why did you say, "Don't drop food on the ground", then proceed to drop food on the ground?
Aussies are super smart loyal dogs…. Be careful or they will train you.😂
Why do people dock aussies tails?
We have a 1 year old and 2 mo old aussie, you talked about dogs being on welfare, how do you keep them “off of welfare” after they’re fully trained? Being “city folk” ours will not be herding dogs or really a working dog of any sort.
Simply put they still have to "Work" before each feeding. Can be easy commands after placing the food ... like sit, down/stay, then break or free when you're ready for them to eat.
Thank you 😊...when is your next one? 📌 📍
Thank you. Stay tuned. We're shooting for 3 videos per week
I don't like the click thing , is better to talk with the dog
I have a huge Australian black lab shes so cute dumb and smart at the same time she is like 11 months old and 130-140 pounds
