Only 1.5 mill for the family?... thats a crime in itself. Bumble Bee owes that family a lot more than that.
At least 4 or 5 million.
@@LamontAtLarge Preach Lamont!
They also received 12,000 lbs. of free Tune all they could eat.
I can't even fathom what his family has gone through, knowing their loved one's fate?! Not to mention this poor, poor man! It's just beyond my comprehension.
No Amount of money or compensation will ever be enough you can't replace your loved one😢
What kind of a lawyer did the family have?? Someone fresh out of law school? 1.5 million is an insult.
They settled out of court maybe?
@@juliedepaolo9971 That would be even worse, they'd do so only on legal advice. If any lawyer advised an out of court settlement for that, they should be disbarred. Just doesn't make sense, their lawyer would be shorting themselves out of a larger fee as well. Almost looks as though a backroom deal was made between the lawyer and the company.
And the lawyers probably took half!
Bumble Bee Tuna makes that in half a day
It's sad that it takes death to get companies to make their facilities safe.
I think this is what they mean when they say that safety regulations are written in blood. It doesn't seem that they ever sit down and discuss "How many ways have we permitted in which a person might hurt themselves badly or fatally by mistake while using this device of ours, and how do we stop them from doing that?"
At my job we are told to ask ourselves “What’s the worst thing that can happen, and how do we prevent it?”
Well said
Yup nothing like a lawsuit
@@cafezo87934 yes
Jose’s grave is at Grant Hills Memorial Park. His family was awarded $1.5 million. Not enough for his pain and suffering.
Yes. Very sad
@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday They only got $53,443
Horrible!
Can you imagine the pain and suffering? 😧 OMG! May he rest in peace 🙏
A decent Go-Fund-Me can raise more than that these days. The insurance company should be ashamed of themselves but I bet they aren't.
I can’t even imagine. That poor man. May he RIP.🙏🏻
Safety violations!! The oven should have been disconnected from power completely.
Lol u can't just disconnect 1 of those. It's hardwired in to multiple breakers. Ud have to throw the main breakers and shut it all down. Get real climb outta that rock

That is so horrible Lamont.
This is so, so sad. That poor man just trying to do his job and some idiot comes along and kills him. RIP
IKR? How can that person sleep at night? 😢
He's the idiot for not following proper LOTO protocols
@@bradsanders407they might not be a company who follows LOTO safety rules. Should have at the very least had signage, stating he was working on it. There’s more companies that don’t follow safety regulations then do, this was definitely a sad preventable death.
In California if someone is working on a machine they put a Tag on the machine controls that says “lock out tag out”meaning it’s being worked on do not operate
@@BlueZombieMorphs the factory I worked at required it too, if you got caught not LOTO, they’d fire you. Sometimes the union could sometimes could get people back. In over 85 years, & quite awhile before I started there in 1980, there was only one death. It could have been prevented, had LOTO been a thing back then. Unfortunately some factories care more about production then, worker’s safety.
I can't imagine what he was going through and the pain so sad may he R.I.P
I don’t want to even think of the agony & Pain and what I don’t get is how no one heard him screaming.
I do believe God was gracious to simply "sleep" him and not go through such horrific ordeal.
@@davidwestley6752 he suffocated first bc of steam
It's just negligence the employee not checking the oven to make sure nobody was inside. That's common sense if someone gets inside to clean or fix ovens always check before you fill and start it just to be safe. Better safe than sorry. I bet the person felt like crap not checking afterwards
I couldn't live with the guilt, everyday would be hell
I totally agree! My first thought would be to make sure no one is inside before even thinking of turning it on. Especially when someone's job is clean the INSIDE of the oven. Then for anyone to assume he's in the restroom without checking the restroom? Moreover, you can't find him and it takes people hours to figure out that he's exactly in the spot where he was assigned to perform a task?? Geeze! The worst part is that other people suffer in the worst ways over stupidity and negligence that is incredibly beyond disbelief.
My husband was working there that day. Through a temp agency, that temp agency is no longer operable.
OMG! I’m so glad he’s ok! What a tragedy!
Must’ve been a temp worker
When was this???
@yunglamonica4504 it happened in 2015.
How did he escape
Only $1.5 million???😮
This is very similar to a case that happened in my City (Leicester) in the U.K. a number of years back when two guys got baked to death in a bread oven at
Harvest Time Bakeries.
Cannot think of a worser way to go.
May God bless them all!! 🙏😮
If he was under 12,000 pounds of tuna he didn't live long enough to get cooked alive. He was probably suffocated or crushed immediately.
I hope you're right, otherwise it was a horrible way to die
Crushed by 12,000 lbs of tuna. A horrific way to die.
He wasn’t under the tuna, the cans of tuna were layered in metal carts, & pushed into the cooker. More then likely either water or steam cooked, it’s not really like an oven. We have them where I used to work, I’m surprised the guy inside didn’t notice it was being filled, & yelled out or something. Though it could be very noisy, & wasn’t heard & unable to get out, very confined space.
Unreal. I can't even imagine that.
How did he get in there?
This makes me not want to ever eat tuna again
Hell
OMG what a tragedy. May he RIP.
Everytime I walk by the tuna aisle at the grocery store I will remember this video. Thanks Lamont great video
You would think the guy loading the oven would have heard Jose screaming or noticed the oven didn't fill to capacity due to Jose's body. This may sound cold but at his age hopefully Jose was already deceased from a heart attack or something. I can't imagine the pain and terror he suffered.
No, it doesn't sound cold. I was thinking the same- that something occured to make it less painful for him.
No kidding. U should always look inside a device such as that for safety purposes. Red tag for maintenance as well.
The ovens are very long and loaded from one side. Unfortunately the main wiring box was in the middle. Normally there would be 2 workers covering a maintenance operation. This day however they were shorthanded and went against the company rules. The ovens are loud. I have heard about this story and read it numerous times. This is how I know about what exactly happened
You probably never worked at a warehouse or manufacturing plant and experience on how it gets really loud in these places. I’m currently working in one and With the vents, fans and in this case, using a big machine to cook large quantities of tuna, it’s sometimes impossible to hear anything. Even a scream. Rip jose
@@ericacruz8261 I've worked as a production welder in a factory, worked in a factory that built ammo boxes for the military and other noisy places. I've never worked around cooking ovens. I know they use steam to do the cooking. I don't know but I wouldn't think they would be that noisy with the door standing open and not in operation but I could be wrong. And please next time, out of respect, capitalize Jose's name.

Blows my mind with these big companies that makes millions of dollars couldn’t have upgraded those ovens in the first place. Not only did they have to replace the ovens but paying the family for his death and other fines that could have been avoided.

Always good content and you are always very respectful.
Sometimes when I hear stories like this I wonder if this was an “accident”. Imagine how a co-worker could hold a grudge and shut the door and start this machine, especially if there’s no one around.
I remember this story! Yikes! Poor man!
A woman froze to death in a machine doing cryotherapy. All these type machines should be able to detect human presence and shut off. Even if someone accidentally falls in, it shouldn’t start

Hey Lamont, around the corner from here is an old cemetery between 2 warehouses. There used to be a church next to it but been torn down many yers ago. Check it out. It has maybe 100 deceased there.
Sounds like the proper Lockout Tagout procedures were not followed which caused his death. When you shut a machine down for maintenance, you're supposed to shut off the power on the machine, make sure there's no power that will go to the machine and lock the controls with a lock. I know because I used to work maintenance at a Honda plant.
That is just sad 😢
Bumble Bee is worth BILLIONS and all the family got was 1.5 Million? Lawyers did an ABSOLUTE SHIT JOB!
Billions? I doubt that. Many millions maybe. It's just a tuna company. They don't own the ships or crews, that's contracted out.
I heard of a similar story to this. I think it happened in the UK or somewhere in Europe where two workers for a bread company were accidentally baked in the oven. The company didn’t want to spend the money and hire a professional to fix a broken oven so the boss had these two employees crawl into the oven and try to fix it themselves. It wasn’t part of their job description. I forget how it turned on but the conveyer belt that runs into the oven only goes in but doesn’t go in reverse. It only runs forward. The company lost its business because of the incident I believe.
Lamont, not sure if you are still in Los Angeles but check out LAC/USC Hospital, aka General Hospital. A maintenance man some years ago fell into a giant fan part of the A/C system and died. He was essentially chopped up. I used to work at that hospital and was told this by other workers. This happened before I worked there.
Also a man jumped to his death at the Arco Tower in LA about 1998. Look this up. I didn't mention his name but you can find it. I didn't mention his name because if you wanna do a video on it I don't wanna spoil it for the fans. I used to work at DTLA then. Don't know if this is true but his head was not found on the ground but days later some pedestrian was walking and looked up and saw his head in a tree. His head got decapitated as he plummeted through the tree to the ground. Got stuck in the tree but body went thru.
"a Los Angeles waiter, leaped to his death Monday from the 36th floor of the Bank of America Tower. "
SoCal is so beautiful. I miss it.
Thanks Lamont!❤
Thank you for sharing this poor man story I pray for his family❤
I'd be curious to know what they did with the tuna that was cooked with the dude...
Being steamed alive is one the worst ways to die. The steam does not cook you like open flame, it slowly boils through the layers of skin and lung tissue, it can take a while to finally stop your heart.
