So years after this was posted I used this great video as a guide and I pulled the coil out not realizing that the coil wires remained attached to the brushes via a coiled 26ga wire. I stretched all of the coils out of the wire connector NOW WHAT???

HiRick I don't quite understand how that spring loaded pin on the end of the armature works. The end that goes against the armature is square. Is it supposed to lock into a square hole because It won't depress or spring back after being run in the mixer which seems to me would defeat the purpose of the spring but now it won't move either direction.Thanks.

Hi Jim, Im not sure which spring loaded pin your talking about. Front or back?

@@vintagemixersandmore1666 The one in the back that goes into that little plastic piece on the governor. I'm not aware of one in the front? There is not one in the worm gear,

@@JimWatsonTheframingMagician There is a plastic piece in the front that pushes against the worm gear and of the armature by pressure from a spring, but the one your referring to is attached to the governor and when the armature spins, centrifugal force makes the weights on the governor want to push the pin up against the speed control, if ti doesnt move at all, the speed control will not function. If it seems stuck, it could have melted its way through the plastic piece on the back of the speed control, and fused to it which means you will have to replace the speed control.

@@vintagemixersandmore1666 Hi Rick. I'm aware of that tiny plastic piece I've heard you call a "thrust bearing". Am I supposed to be able to depress the pin while it's in the governor or or is it supposed to lock in place place and not move in or out? I can make it either way Thanks..

@@JimWatsonTheframingMagician You should be able to depress the pin that goes off center int eh back that fits into a hole in the speed control and the exposed end rides against the ramp inside the speed dial. It has a square end and a round end, the round end faces out and it has a hole where you can insert a small allen wrench to adjust the speed. The pin on the end of the armature that contacts the speed control assembly you shouldnt be able to get to at all once everything is put together.

I am trying to find a replacement resistor for my mother's vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster Model 10. Do you have any guidance on how many ohms the resistor is - apparently I need to know that to get a replacement resistor.

The resistor you need for your MixMaster model 10 is the same a resistor used by models 7, 9, 11 or 12. I would replace the capacitor too unless it was changed recently.
