People who are over 18 that actually engage in tiktok trends with names like “the blackout challenge” should be put in retirement homes because I don’t think that mind is gonna amount to much
As someone who has lost a brother to the blackout challenge, it's devastating. But it was in 2018. He was only 13 and he was supposed to wake up but he didn't. I was so mad when I found out that it was an internet challenge. 2 other kids in my town got rushed to the ER and lived but Tony didn’t. RIP Tony ❤️
“Don’t be an Idiot” is a phrase I always say to myself before doing anything, like choosing if I want to laugh to this video, or feel bad about those who did these “trends”. (Turns out I do both)
yes it is exactly the same as I think it is a sad thing while also I engage with it as a humorous moment but also realize the sadness of this and because I realize the sad moment but also feel the humor moment I cannot help but to feel them in conjunction with each other leading to a humor sad which is in conflict with the other feeling and it leaves me confused as to what to think of it so the humor sad or as I like to call it an emotional brain shart is a great way to stay in shape as it promotes mental exercise. As the son of someone who was formerly in the dentistry field, I think it should be common knowledge that your teeth have a protective coating on the outside and when you file down your teeth like that, you're exposing the bottom to all the bacteria that is naturally in your mouth.
Man I can't believe this Black out challenge is bringing back stuff from my childhood. I remember teens catching highs from releasing themselves from suffocation right before blacking out. It was all those PSA commercials. History repeats.
If a platform allows dangerous challenges like this to be posted, liked and repeated into oblivion, they should be held accountable and the platform should be shut down for posing a serious risk to minors. Anyone else who try’s this after they’re 18 is just natural selection at this point
Why tf 9-13 year old kids are on TikTok in the first place?? Kids are dumb and parents should know what they see on social media not just TikTok it’s so sad honestly
Or perhaps parents shouldn't just put a phone in their children's hands and forget to parent. 🤷 A little parental responsibility would have gone a long way in many of the cases presented.
I remember the blackout challenge being popular when I was a young child, and my mom told me about it. 3 people in my school ended up in the hospital because of it, including my sister who luckily survived. If there ever are any trends that you think could cause harm to your body, don’t follow it. And any trends about digesting this “super cool and healthy” thing, that you have to buy as a product, don’t buy it. If doctors don’t recommend you it, don’t take it.

I'd love to blame Tiktok for starting the blackout challenge, but I saw it in my school when I was in grade 5. Now, Tiktok is still promoting this to many minors who never heard of it, so that's a lot of blame on them for that.
Love how oompa will talk like he's 20 years older than he is. I'll be sitting there like "yeah sure I'll probably work on changing the future after graduation" and then remember he's probably only 3-5 years older than me
It’s also sad because sometimes it’s all down to peer pressure of people thinking it’s “cool” and then making someone else doing it. So pick your friends correctly guys,
I can’t believe the blackout challenge is still a thing! 🙄 My friends and I used to do this for fun at parties when I was 16 and although we were lucky and nobody ever passed away from it. But that just goes to show you that the teens today aren’t doing anything new, only difference is now they’re filming it!
Some pre workouts, like Optimum Nutrition, aren't that intense. I used to triple scoop ON with no problem. However, there's also some that I can only take one scoop and my blood will be itchy. Just depends on the pre workout you use.

As someone who has a decent bit of experience with various types of hallucinogens, Benadryl is some heavy duty trip fuel, and almost always a bad trip at that. It's like a bad PSA from the 60's/70's about doing acid come to life. There might be spiders everywhere, you'll talk to people that aren't there just to turn your head for a second to find they've vanished, or any number of nonsensical hallucinations that you 100% believe are real *and are likely going to try and physically interact with*. Also if people are gonna keep doing the blackout challenge, they should go back to doing the buddy method variety where you inhale/exhale really deep as fast as you can and have your friend lift you up real quick in a bearhug from behind. I remember that being popular in high school well before online challenge videos were a thing. Better yet would just be for people to *not* trying to lose consciousness from oxygen deprivation, but you can't win 'em all.

It’s not fun, it’s substance abuse and can lead to a nasty unnecessary addiction to allergy medicine. Thank you for saying something about that “trend”!
The whole blackout challenge has to be the most horrid trend to ever exist,,, I had a little brother that ended up passing away from it two months ago as of today, coming home from school on that day was not pleasant 🙃
Ok but on the real, that blackout challenge is terrible. I'm 23, and when I was 16-18 I did that, except (please, please don't do this) it was just pressing on both my jugular veins. Did it in school, church, literally did it while driving and would hit curbs, never hit cars or people or damaged anything but it was a real genuine addiction for 2 years that I eventually had to tell my parents about in order to stop me when they noticed

There has been research linking an obsession with clearing out potentially harmless parasites with a rise in potentially fatal autoimmune conditions. When children in a rural area were mass treated with anti-parasite medication, there was a spike in them reporting cases of asthma and skin conditions.
i’ve never heard about any of these challenges which is very interesting to me that you can be on two completely different sides of tik tok and never hear about certain things
My younger brother ODed on that in like 2007. It was actually terrifying to see him so removed from reality. He and his friends also did the choking game in the early Naughts. Again: Terrifying. Watched one have a possible seizure, say it had happened before, and refuse to tell his mom. They are all Wastes, now. It's so sad seeing people throw away their lives before they are even their own.
The blackout challenged caused so many injuries over the decades (yes-even when I was a kid) that it has its own medical code that the doctor can put on the insurance claim. Seriously-people need to stop.
I always used to wonder why besides liability content creators felt the need to tell people not to do dumb things as it seemed common sense buuuuuut these tik tok challenges and their aftermaths have cleared that up lol
Not only are most of these challenges dumb, They are Dangerous, the thought process behind even making these a challenge in the first place and trying to get others to follow blindly behind it is Baffling
I actually used to love tripping on Benadryl until one time I was walking around my house thinking I was stepping over dead bodies tripping that it was all real and very normal. I was also talking to a mysterious man in a suit who updated me on something I couldn’t remember over and over again. Terrifying experience. Would not recommend ever using Benadryl.
The fact tik tok allows these challenges to stay up on the platform and promote them too is disgusting And yet youtube deletes peoples channels, remove videos and demonotize videos just for being slightly funny is bizarre There is no in-between
Dont forget the tide pod challenge, planking in dangerous places selfies, cinnamon powder challenge, and rubbing alcohol on body while lighting it challenge
There's just been a massive case of a little boy in the uk that was in a coma after doing the blackout challenge and ended up passing away. It's such a shame that people post silly stuff like this online for impressionable kids to see

Oompa no matter how hard we try brother, we are Gen-z by definition (I'm around your age). There is just a big difference between early GenZ and late GenZ lol
I'm early GenZ and I do not relate whatsoever to late GenZ. I never go nor went on TikTok, I stopped going on Twitter 2 years ago, my only app now is UA-cam. But I do feel bad for late GenZ, they woke up in this disgusting state of the internet, and I feel like people hate on them too much when they're kids who grew up in this in a capitalist system and vile social media state.

I don't remember where I first heard this but the internet is like a giant sign everyone can see that not only highlights the bright and brilliant along with the average but also the village idiots. Like every village has at least one idiot and the internet has become a place where everyone can find everyone so of course that also means you'll see everyone's village idiot and how many there actually are. I mean, not every gen z person is the exact same, I'm gen z but I also think all of these are very dumb. tho maybe I'm a bit different just because I've never installed tiktok.
These types of challenges have been around for 100s of years. During the 1920s, there was a challenge called the "goldfish eating" challenge, who ever ate the most goldfish(ALIVE) is the winner.
Growing up in the early 2000's we use to take turns making each other blackout. We'd hyper ventilate for a minute or two, then hold our breathes with a bunch of chest and compression until we black out. Typically end up hitting our heads on the way out. I probably could have been a Walmart manager or an Amazon delivery driver if not for all that
These kids would have been the lady at the post office with a bad attitude making you wait in line for 30 minutes to get a a package and then indignantly telling you “sir you gots to go go to the other line” while she goes 15 minutes early to her lunch break…… Are we really that “sad” when you think about the type of person it takes to not “make it” past a social media application?
10:40 tylenol is an anti inflammatory drug. The active ingredient in nyquil is DXM and although some solutions have an anti inflammatory drug, DXM is a dissociative hallucinogenic and antitussive drug and a stereoisomer of levomethorphan (a morphinian about 4x stronger than morphine)
A lot of pre workouts say you can use 2 scoops it’s only if there is a really high amount of caffeine per scoop 400mg a day is the recommended total daily amount for a full grown adult. never have dry scooped myself but I believe the only danger is inhaling it although it’s not going to be effective because most of the ingredients use water as a mechanism of delivery to your blood stream.
The benadryl throws your balance off(I forgot what you call it to where your body knows which way is up and which way is down)which causes you to literally run into everything even though you can clearly see it, it's invert controls in real life, super scary, did research and wrote about this in psychology class actually.
I once took 2 Benadryl (it calls for 1 or 2 so it wasn't anything overdosey) and I literally couldn't move at all, after that, I just continued to do just one, I mean it wasn't bad but it really freaked me out
it’s horrible how this ”trends” have been many of these a thing long before tiktok and before internet it was like in schools you heard from someone and they told your friend. I tried the ”blackout challenge” like 15? years ago, luckily just passed out for like a minute or two. But in my school the teachers told the parents and we were warned but no one listened. Thanks Caleb for informative video, will have a talk about these ”trends” with my younger cousins and that they really can/will led to death.
The danger isn't really from trying to hold your breath til you pass out - under typical circumstances, your body will involuntarily force you to breathe when it senses too much CO2 and fresh oxygen will be pumped to your brain... it's impossible to suppress the urge to breathe long enough to induce hypoxia. The reason people have died from it is using some sort of ligature to blackout, which _is_ super dangerous because it compresses blood vessels in your neck: the carotid arteries & the jugular veins namely - this means the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain is disrupted, so even if you can still technically breathe, the blood carrying the oxygen your brain needs is physically blocked... if that external pressure isn't removed promptly and you fall unconscious, your brain continues being starved of oxygen and there's no way for a reflex to wake you back up since your brain is dying and can only lose function if nobody else steps in and removes the ligature.
What I don’t think people realize about those teeth videos, those people are getting their teeth shaved down and having veneers put in. They don’t have those sharp teeth to begin with
Making yourself black out isn't a new thing, my gen x father tells me stories about all the dumb things him and his friends used to do to make themselves black out

Love your videos oompah been watching ya for years now and your content never ceases to amaze me

The guy that died from the milk crate challenge was hilarious... imagine being that person
How is someone dying, funny?
Someone losing their life isnt funny at all. That was someones son, brother, cousin, friend....
Him dying isn't funny but the way he did was
A lot of pre workouts say you can use 2 scoops it’s only if there is a really high amount of caffeine per scoop 400mg a day is the recommended total daily amount for a full grown adult. never have dry scooped myself but I believe the only danger is inhaling it although it’s not going to be effective because most of the ingredients use water as a mechanism of delivery to your blood stream.
It's always amazing to see what new ridiculous trend blows up on TikTok
Me: not making TikToks and still am on the rabbit holes of many kinds
Ompaville: brings happiness

The benadryl throws your balance off(I forgot what you call it to where your body knows which way is up and which way is down)which causes you to literally run into everything even though you can clearly see it, it's invert controls in real life, super scary, did research and wrote about this in psychology class actually.
Another example of how I’m well within my right to say that TikTok deserves to be shut down.
I did the black out challenge as a kid but couldn't hold my breath long enough to actually black out. never knew how deadly it is till now
The danger isn't really from trying to hold your breath til you pass out - under typical circumstances, your body will involuntarily force you to breathe when it senses too much CO2 and fresh oxygen will be pumped to your brain... it's impossible to suppress the urge to breathe long enough to induce hypoxia.
A 9th grader at my school died from the Benadryl challenge last summer 💀
What I don’t think people realize about those teeth videos, those people are getting their teeth shaved down and having veneers put in. They don’t have those sharp teeth to begin with
The fact that all of this might be put in a documentary or history books years from now is kinda sad
Making yourself black out isn't a new thing, my gen x father tells me stories about all the dumb things him and his friends used to do to make themselves black out
about the double scooping its relatively safe if you are SEVERELY OVERWEIGHT
