In Wales at the time the culture was that while you'd have pen draig it was a druidic society and typically you'd have 2 druids who could overrule the pendraig as they were the principle advisers. This was during the time we were at war so it was likely that Merlin was a head druid potentially only being 1 instead of the standard 2 which is why he is so famous

In fate Gilgamesh actually does obtain one of those two mentioned forms of immortality (the herb of immortality) he goes back and gets more for his vault after the snake eats the first one he got hence why he is able to turn into child Gil in fate/hollow ataraxia. He simply decides not to use the herb and die as a mortal after the lesson he learned in the journey to obtain it
@@vali6025 They're the same person, class only applies when they're a servant. Archer gil is just Gil in his younger days when he was adventuring with enkidu anyways while caster is Gil post journey for immortality.
I cant wait to see more of Eresh in the anime :'D And thanks for making this video! More Fate explanations are always appreciated. I've played the game, but the lore and timeline confuses me sometimes
Something cool about Gil, he later manages to get the flower of immortality, which I don't really remember the name, but then he notices that there is beauty into being mortal, his own mortality up to certain point were what made him hate himself, that's the "angry" gilgamesh we see on other fate routes, after he learns the value of life (because of enkidu), he gets pretty benevolent, altho even at his past arrogance he actually never killed a single person from his realm, not a single! He says that even slaves had their value, some people say that his malevolent intetions on fate previous series are actually driven by corruption from the holy grail, some say that gilgamesh could not be corrupted by any means, anyway, he were never really CRUEL, at least, not with his people LOL
Just to clarify, currently in the anime Gilgamesh is not a heroic spirit. He is alive and just happens to take up magecraft to support the defense of Uruk. Technically not a spoiler, just to clarify if someone out there gets confused.
It's funny that there are so many version of Ishtar's story that every time I hear someone tell it, it's very different from the versions I had heard so far~
Funny story, in Nasuverse, Gil actually went back and got more of the Immortality herb for his Gate, but it doesn’t actually give him eternal life but restores youth, which is why he becomes a kid in hollow ataraxia
Which show how inconsistent and shitty Gil character is. In Nasu's lore, he refuse the herb of immortality because it woud take away his humanity. He refused it, yet took one anyway. Why? He don't want it's immortality yet losing it still affect his mentality tremendously. Why? He get another one anyway just for his collection. Then why would it affect him in the first place if he can do that? And didn't it would take away his humanity? Since when it become a mere revitalize drug? Shittiest character ever.
@@cynt4416 i just checked and no there isn't. The only conversation about the herb is just Ishtar's banter toward Gil that he is such a swimmer, he is so absorbed in swimming that a serpent stole the herb.

You forgot Quetzalcoatl (Kukulkan in Mayan myth) and perhaps explain why she kicked Ishtar/Rin's ass with little effort despite both are supposed to be divine Goddess
Quetzalcoatl has a resistance/immunity against good-aligned Servants, night Ishtar mentioned it to Fujimaru before they fight her and said not to rely on her powers. Quetz also has a higher divinity than Ishtar and Rin is while decent in close combat once she meets her match (Luvia suplexed Rin) it doesn't end well.
So I just wanted to point out that this Benkei in Fate is different from the one in real life mythology. In Fate, “Benkei” actually ran away and abandoned Ushiwakamaru in her final battle because he was afraid. The shame of abandoning her made him go around Japan to tell the tale of the brave Ushiwakamaru and her loyal attendant Benkei. That’s why in the game Ushiwakamaru’s interactions in events are sometimes kinda harsh because of him abandoning her.
At 5:05 you said we saw glimpses of Ereshkigal, but in Fate: Babylonia ep 6, at 9;35 Merlin states all Mesopotamian Gods are blonde, & that the black haired Ishtar is fusion of a black haired Mesopotamian girl & the blonde Ishtar, at least according to the anime so far.

One questions. Scenes of Merlin, Altria and another blonde girl pulling the sword. For example, 8:37, where are they from? I have not seem those scenes before.
Just so everybody knows, almost every single fighting character in the anime can be summoned in theory as a servant in the fate universe. The only one you can't summon is Solomon and there is a good reason why. I also have something that bothers me, in the game they never mentioned how Shirou Kotomine, Tomoe Gozen and Fuma Kotaro died, neither did they explain what happened to Ibaraki. I mean Ibaraki being the rogue is quite easy to understand but how the hell did Tomoe Gozen die??? I mean SHE'S A DEMON HERSELF. Shirou Kotomine is shown to have quite some skill and Fuma's noble phantasm would make him a good servant for siege battles. How on earth or who could have killed them??? Did Enkidu do it? If only people know how Merlin has a second name amongst the FGO mobile players... but nevermind that AniNews do you play FGO?
tWx faKe bEast4 The game stated that Tomoe and Amasake died while battling an enemy general of the demon beast. Their efforts in defeating the enemy general make it so the human can survive longer until Chaldea arrive.
Right so is actually Tomoe fought the demon general and they both died. Fuuma and Amasake went on a rescue mission to save the people of Eridu but they never return after enter the jungle so is presume to be dead. Idk about Ibaraki
@@physchee651 So you mean Fuuma and Amasake died by Jaguarman and Tomoe took the demon general with her. But it's still a little bit surprising that Tomoe died on a demon general.

"Spoiler warning about Anna"
Well... I kinda expected that one... in fact 5 minutes in her first appearance (which I saw last Monday).
The god who posseses Taiga body is called Tezcatlipoca, god of shadows and darkness, with the Nahual form of a jaguar from the Aztec mythology
I hate how tomoe gozen was robbed of a tv appearence. But i can live with it.
there probably wasn't a concept Art for her during Babylonia's release in game and I don't think I even ever saw her as a flashback from the storymode itself. but since she's already in game currently, I'm pretty sure the anime would eventually show her, Amakusa and Fuuma in some flashbacks at some point . . and also maybe Ibaraki(I didn't even know she was in Babylonia tbh lol)
@@AJLaz000 Tomoe was teased during a mission in babylonia, when you fight against a giant skeleton ghost its named Tomoe Gozen, ofc it wasnt a shadow servant cause as you said, no concept art
For Ibaraki you fight her on mt Ebih on a Free Mission
Stephen Choi I thought Ereshikgal was the giant Skeleton, not Tomoe?
2:27 correct me if I'm wrong but what I've read on them is the fight ended in a draw cus they were both exhausted and Gil wasted so many of his weapons that he nearly run out and Enkidu used 90% of his clay.
I want to know more about Ishtar!!!!!And I love this channel is freaking amazing keep up with the good work
Wow. taiga and Rin as servants...my my..how the tables have turned.
Am just a casual Fate anime watcher. This puts a smile on my face.
The whole emiya family are servants! Papa emiya is Assassin, mama Iri is a caster, little sister Illya is a maho shojo caster, the other perverse sister is a mini archer.
Man I loved this caster Gil! Huge huge character development.
In fate Gilgamesh actually does obtain one of those two mentioned forms of immortality (the herb of immortality) he goes back and gets more for his vault after the snake eats the first one he got hence why he is able to turn into child Gil in fate/hollow ataraxia. He simply decides not to use the herb and die as a mortal after the lesson he learned in the journey to obtain it
CrowbarExcalibur That was the Archer Gilgamesh, I believe he was talking about Caster Gilgamesh.
@@vali6025 They're the same person, class only applies when they're a servant. Archer gil is just Gil in his younger days when he was adventuring with enkidu anyways while caster is Gil post journey for immortality.
@@CrowbarExcalibur actually archer gil is before his journey with enkidu, while caster gil is after the journey .
Gramps: _I came, I saw, I bought Death even to the Immortal ones._
He has shown up in the anime, it pleased me greatly
Everyone: Tiamat literally can't die.
Gramps: hold my Azrael.
4:22 I got a weird ad...
"let's talk ishtar..."
"The boneless, wingless wing stack"
I honestly thought Leonidas was a lancer class, he just doesn’t seem like a berserker
He is a lancer. He got it wrong
I cant wait to see more of Eresh in the anime :'D
And thanks for making this video! More Fate explanations are always appreciated. I've played the game, but the lore and timeline confuses me sometimes
10:22 The serial killer part of her character is what I liked about her
Something cool about Gil, he later manages to get the flower of immortality, which I don't really remember the name, but then he notices that there is beauty into being mortal, his own mortality up to certain point were what made him hate himself, that's the "angry" gilgamesh we see on other fate routes, after he learns the value of life (because of enkidu), he gets pretty benevolent, altho even at his past arrogance he actually never killed a single person from his realm, not a single!
Those SMITE images though XD, in all seriousness though, nice vid.
Slight correction Enkidu and Gil got into a stalemate neither beat each other Gil emptied GOB completely and Enkidu was still standing
AniNews:Merlin has been noted to a Prophet,a Tutor,a Bard and most importantly....

AniNews: An Advisor.

5:28 this Archaion from the warhammer lore (total warn warhammer leder of the chaos faction) probably not the guy she was at war with
It's funny that there are so many version of Ishtar's story that every time I hear someone tell it, it's very different from the versions I had heard so far~
It’s unfortunate you didn’t do a spoiler warning for the Ereshkigal bit. “Blonde Ishtar”’s identity has yet to be revealed in the anime.
00:10 Now hold up, is that Artoria vs Gilgamesh within Unlimited Blade Works? Even if not, still a badass image to think of
I think it's a picture of Arturia and Mordred's final fight
This is incorrect. Leonidas is a Lancer servant, not Berserker.
I always forget how calming your voice is
Funny story, in Nasuverse, Gil actually went back and got more of the Immortality herb for his Gate, but it doesn’t actually give him eternal life but restores youth, which is why he becomes a kid in hollow ataraxia
@@cynt4416 huh, when did they said Gil refusing the herb of immortality?
@@dennis9584 According to the wiki: FGO, the 7th singularity, chapter 14
@@cynt4416 i just checked and no there isn't. The only conversation about the herb is just Ishtar's banter toward Gil that he is such a swimmer, he is so absorbed in swimming that a serpent stole the herb.
@@dennis9584
Guess it's another lie from Gil's fan to redeem him, lol.
There still the thing about how it affect Gil that much when he just can get another one? The event that affect him heavily because it's irriversible. Enkidu death, losing the herb. If they are reversible then it shouldn't affect him at all. He would not wise up and stay as the bratty stupid Gil from before.
You have no idea how much I love these intensely studied history lessons in anime
it still sadden me that Tomoe greatness can't be seen as she die before the master got to Babylonia
well we have Shimousa man. I even have troubles with her and cannot finish Chiyome.
@@ousamadearudesuwa the problem with shimousa is that it is a different version of her and the conversation we (as master) have with tomoe, she will apologize to servents who were in shimousa about the other version of her
@@fanglor5438 yeah.
@@ousamadearudesuwa it does make the tomoe a more enjoyable character as it shows that most servants are actual characters and not just cardboard cut out waifus/husbandos
@@fanglor5438 well wasn't it all of them in game? Oh wait yeah I forget about Jeanne and Boudicca.
Can’t wait for you to do one on Camelot when it comes out
it took the combined effort of gil and enkidu to take down the divine bull.
I took it down with one assassin. Carmilla
Hahaha
(7:20) Might I add another important information, the provider of the peenus to the King... let's not forget that
You forgot Quetzalcoatl (Kukulkan in Mayan myth) and perhaps explain why she kicked Ishtar/Rin's ass with little effort despite both are supposed to be divine Goddess
That’s why in the game Ushiwakamaru’s interactions in events are sometimes kinda harsh because of him abandoning her.
after watching this I feel like he’s my history teacher but way cooler 😂
At 5:05 you said we saw glimpses of Ereshkigal, but in Fate: Babylonia ep 6, at 9;35 Merlin states all Mesopotamian Gods are blonde, & that the black haired Ishtar is fusion of a black haired Mesopotamian girl & the blonde Ishtar, at least according to the anime so far.
Do I hear more fate videos?
Hopefully he will make a video about old man Hassan and Tiamat in the future since they appear too

after you finish with every servant you should do a honorable mention video for the other servants who were there but did not get screen time because they were dead or selfish.
tomoe gozen, fuuma kotaro, and ibaraki douji. I left out amakusa shirou since you already have a video about him.

Quetzalcoatl.

Tomoe was the Archer CasGil called?! woah... also Bad banana oni. bad. bully her.
Tomoe was teased during a mission in babylonia, when you fight against a giant skeleton ghost its named Tomoe Gozen, ofc it wasnt a shadow servant cause concept art for her wasnt a thing during Babylonia
It's a cute gimmick that some characters posses old Emiya era fate characters

14:38 Leonidas looks like a combo between Leonidas from 300 and Spawn.
Dude I hope they show ibaraki going apeshit in the coming battles
She’s not in the show.
8:31 in Fate lore, the one who taught Arthur how to use sword is Sir Kay. not Merlin.
No.. Merlin said he taught artoria
@@MrThecrazyzombie and you believed him? lol he's one character with the most bullshit in Fate lore. The wiki even says it, that she was trained by Sir Kay. They said it too in Garden of Avalon.
But even in wiki they said that Merlin taught her:
Merlin is proficient in swordplay and is allegedly Artoria's swordsmanship instructor. He was shown in possession of Excalibur, saying that he prefers using it in combat over magic because he bites his tongue during long incantations and that "it's a lot easier to smack things around with a Holy Sword, you know?"
It could be both of them tho
@@amonielsadaigulo3474 it's a bit late but while Artoria slept, Merlin trained her in swordplay and other stuff stated by Sir Kay on the drama cd [Garden of Avalon] so both Sir Kay, his father and Merlin trained her
Enkidu - takes the form of a lancer servant
Also Enkidu - *Dies*
That E rank luck again huh?
Ishtar husband didn't mourn her death as he was surrounded by other women at the time, ishtar got mad but still didn't entirelly want to leave him there, and eventually he left because of her.
Talking about Merlin without saying dickwizard or troll, clearly heresy to all FGO.

Fate Apocrypha. I forget which episode. I think 21 tho. The one where mordred fights semiramis
@@AniNews Ohh thank you. I watched Apocrypha, but can't remember that scene..
@@physchee651 Enemy general and they still died? I don't remember it but what kind of beast? I mean 2 heroic spirits losing to an demonic beast?
Right so is actually Tomoe fought the demon general and they both died. Fuuma and Amasake went on a rescue mission to save the people of Eridu but they never return after enter the jungle so is presume to be dead. Idk about Ibaraki

@@Flamelance_Accendo Well thats because back then Merlin gave Arthoria a dick because she was a woman.

@@Flamelance_Accendo In Nasuverse version, he gave Artoria ... a penis, so she oculd have a child.
