There's no future for that place. It's just decaying old concrete. They can't do anything with that except let it rot away or demolish it. I'm surprised any of it's still standing. Concrete usually doesn't last that long before breaking down. If there was going to be something done with it, they'd have done it long ago instead of waiting for the concrete to weaken over time.
What makes your videos so special ( besides your voice), is that there is so much to the places you explore in terms of history and understanding the past. The concrete city was basically a last gasp of the company town, where it was built by the company to house the workers and their families. That this originally was built for higher level employees is interesting, because despite having some amenities outside, these units were bare bones, no kitchens, no running water. Obviously it didn't work, so the DLW sold it to a mining company, where this kind of housing had been common, bare bones housing, often at inflated prices. Knowing the history of the times, these likely failed because the times had changed. The DLW ppl likely wanted what we would call more a middle class life , including decent housing. Likewise by this time organized labor was gaining strength, and they would resist substandard housing. Likely, too, by this time local towns likely has started passing ordinances about housing, and these likely would fail ( I inferred this from when you said that the company figured out the cost of trying to bring in plumbing and electricity would have been prohibitive, which it would have been). Sometimes a failure like this, like abandoned resorts or amusement parks or towns, tell a much broader story. Thanks again for what you do!
Took a small break from urban exploration videos and since I've been away you've definitely improved your production quality. I'm impressed and look forward to seeing more.
Awesome paranormal story, it seems your shadow person is still there and standing in front of your camera. Cool history, thanks for bringing us along and sharing your experience and your knowledge of this place. Great video an cinematography as always.
I've seen every video you've made of this area and I'm amazed: 1) there's no homeless encampment, 2) no evidence of arson, and 3) there are some really talented artists out there. Thanks for taking us along. I bet it was cold in those cement buildings.
I've got family in Nanticoke and know the area well - 1 is primarily because it's too far from food, restaurants to dumpster dive, supplies, etc (at least a 2 mile walk to the business district, at least a mile to the community college) - but also it's too commonly visited and a regular hangout for teens etc that would harass homeless if they did stay there. 2 - there's nothing left to burn - you can see the ceilings in most of the buildings are black and covered with soot - people often have campfires in the buildings, and fire departments even fill them with wood, light it, and practice putting them out, the buildings are fireproof. And 3- yeah - I can't believe how much time some people must put into some of those building-size paintings out there knowing they may just get painted right over by the next person.
Fascinating history! I really like your idea, Jay, of restoring one unit as an example of what is was like in its original form, as a history lesson, like a museum. The paranormal event that occurred had me absolutely glued to the screen, eyes wide open!👀 Might want to pick a different unit for restoration and not use that one. Lots of really great artwork here and there, too. I agree, this historical place should be preserved. Great video!!💙
Another great video. The history of this place is really interesting and kind of spooky. Videos that display ‘before and after’ pictures really intrigue me, trying to imagine what life used to be. It would be so cool to see the future of this place become as you imagine.
Thank you for telling the history like your idea of preserving one into a museum! Be careful I think it’s definitely haunted it’s been around long enough! Happy New Year! ❤❤😊
Awesome place JP! Would've been a safe place to live during tornado season! Amazing how well its lasted for 100 years, but then again it also proves nature eventually reclaims everything, even concrete! Thanks for bringing us along for the revisit and adventure!👍
Your first video at concrete city was the first I heard of it. They looked cute in the picture with the awnings and flower boxes. I agree with you that they should restore one of them as a museum. One side could be furnished as it would have been, and the other could be a museum about the lives of the people who lived there. Display the clothing and tools they would have used in the mines. It could include information on the railroad company. Some basic site maintenance and security would stop the human damage to the others. That was really creepy when your shot went dark. I thought it could be the camera adjusting to the light off the snow. When it came back on its own, that was ruled out. Thanks for taking us along. PS when you asked what could go wrong, I thought you could land wrong and break your ankle. I worry about your choices sometimes when you are alone.
You made some good suggestions for a museum type setting. I also appreciate your concern, but I'm pretty confident in my abilities and would never do something if I think I have a high chance of injury.
That’s wild J I’ve heard of places like this but it’s my first time seeing one. I think its future, if left relatively alone, will be a reclamation by nature. Really. Thanks for having me along to see it,
Oh yes!! I’ve seen a video of “Post 10” going through this!! Wild to think this was a whole community! They seem so unlivable… but I can imagine it was buzzing with 100’s of children playing all around there!!
I remember our multiple trips here, sliding down where you slid down, R.J. doing Naruto Run, and the paranormal investigation. At time stamp 31:28, it appears the wading pool was toward the upper right hand corner based on the hillside behind the duplexes using the picture of the people at the wadingbpool for reference. The SUV was a Grand Cherokee. It's amazing how one building is disintegrating and right next to it is an intact build😢sinkingbin the ground with trees growing through the doorways and windows. I have to get Winnie over there again and do more revisiting .
I was thinking about RJ and his Naruto run and you guys on the "slide" when watching this. It's interesting to see the place again. Another paranormal visit would be cool.
Jason, I have always been fascinated with Concrete City. Don’t know why, I guess the history and so hard to imagine them ever looking like the pictures. Every time you guys went I always tagged along. I agree with you about rehabbing one like it used to be for historical purposes. That would be awesome to see!! Thanks for revisiting!! 💖💙💖💙💖💙💖
What an amazing video update. . I can sympathize with the inhabitants of those houses way back when. I live in a concrete house with a tin roof here in the Philippines. It's hotter-n he** in the spring and summer and very very warm even in the rest of the year. I use 6 fans all year-round! I imagine their winters were plenty cold. Did they have electricity? And I think you said they had outhouses? Oh that would make for frozen butt cheeks!! People had to have stamina to live there. These structures may still be standing long after we are gone!!!
I first saw this in a video some time ago by another UA-camr. It was interesting to see how the graffiti has changed. I don’t support it, but I can appreciate the quality of the art work. It leaves me hoping the kids that did these grew up to become professional artists. I really like that you showed some pics of how this place was originally. I wish your vision for it was possible. But that would mean staffing the area to stop the partying. Doubtful that this would ever happen. Still, one can hope. Great video!
I remember your past videos on this place, I don't remember you going into as much detail though. So thanks for a different view and more history. Central California watching
I had never heard of this place; thank you for the tour! Very interesting and informative. What happened to you was kind of creepy when you saw someone walking fast in the house. You have a great idea about restoring one of the homes! I hope that they do it. Much appreciated and I hope that you and the family have a blessed 2025……🌝
I truly loved seeing the history of these places that you show. Put on the outhouses they can show us lots of history in their pits... I know it's a little creepy to dig through something like that and sometimes in wet conditions like you said it had it's not the best thing to do but if it's a dry one you can dig through those pits and find lots and lots of different pieces of History.
These buildings were for the mining executives of the Loomis, Bliss and Truesdale collieries. The red brick houses currently at Loomis Park, adjacent to RT 29 are the replacement homes, being replicas (floor plans) of the Concrete City homes, with exception, there are no stairs to a third floor and they have conventional gabled shingled roofs. Check it out! Thanks for the video... Fantastic job!
You can see on the mini van that the fire department used the "jaws of life" on it. I believe about 5 times from what I could see. It may have been intentionally placed for training, and that is why certain things were removed. Another with fluids in them, engine just drained.
Great story about the paranormal, that dark shadow walking across the room must have spooked you out, some ghost is definitely living there, also hearing foot steps in the tape recorder, that means there is more than one ghost and something made them come out... bet you if you bring a psychic to this concrete city they will tell you who are the ghosts... if you can do some more paranormal invistigations that would be great 😊💙
Yep -- 'company town' that really didn't tick all of the boxes for satisfactory living conditions, because management didn't often have the employees best interests at heart. If nothing else the fact that it remains is a good reminder....
Woww this difference from last time to now. I remember the slide. It should better preserved than it is. It is a very important and interesting part of history.
It would be interesting to see at least one building redone. But it must have been hard for the families with no plumbing but like you said it was their home. Thanks for doing a another video on this location
I was wondering if it was haunted as soon as I saw the candles. You answered my question. Also, I hope you got new gloves for Christmas, Mr. JP. I'm going to get a pair soon hopefully.
It's something that you would never know if you didn't do any research on it on how they lived back in the day, Jay, but like you said, it wouldn't be livable for a long time there.
An interesting video and yes I remember you being here before. First I agree not the most ideal living conditions. No adequate plumbing or heating. Cramped quarters and a very isolated environment. Almost a prison like community. But yes one could exist here for a short time. Secondly your experience with super natural entity is definitely believable as I too experienced one as a small boy at my Grandparents home. As always a great video.
Just keep in mind that even through to mid-century out houses were the rule and not the exception throughout Appalachia. Running water was rare. Some folks didnt even get electric until the 1960s. I visited a friends uncle on a mountain in alabama in the early 90s that still had an outhouse, no running water and just got electric the previous decade. Life was night and day to what even the poorest of us have today.
Those are REALLY clean cuts in tbe sheet metal. You mentioned fire fighters used this for training, im thinking they placed that vehicle and used the jaws of life on it.
What a fascinating place and it has so much awesome history. In my opinion, your experience was definitely paranormal and just maybe it was back to visit you at the point where the camera went dark. That gave me goosebumps. For the future of this place, I am thinking your idea of restoring one of the buildings is great, and maybe they could maintain the site better for people to enjoy, if they won't or can't do that, I hope they don't do anything and just leave it. I think it is a fantastic piece of history that will continue to be reclaimed by nature and a great place to explore. The views from above are amazing and even though I don't like when people do it, unless if it is organized, some of those pieces of graffiti art are amazing too! This was such an enjoyable video JP, thank you! 💙
Could make it into state park. For families enjoy nature. Have benches and tables. Have a place to have outdoor cooking. The darkness in the video. I believe is paranormal. In South Florida there are concrete houses built in the 1920's. They aren't very big. We looked at living in one 1970's. They are Hallandale, Florida in Dade County.
Maybe there was something messing with your camera at that moment . I have seen other paranormal investigations conducted in this area, and odd things have happened during these investigations.
1. While i like to listen to ghost like stories and humor the thought of em, I don't actually believe in em, does not mean i'm not open to the idea of em actually existing as it would make life a lot more interesting, that being said I don't know much about cameras but feels like it was focusing on you as you were close to it then it lost sight of you as you backed off and then decided to sharpen or focus on the light outside the window, then later it refocused on you again while the outside lighting lost focus and went back to bright and blurry. 2. While i would agree and want to see one of em restored to how it was... It just makes me think how long are they willing to keep it in said condition until it too gets abandoned again or some other complication occurs.
awesome video jp :D it`s awesome how old these building are wow.. that was so weried the camera want black like that you should return to do Paranormal..
I believe in paranormal 100% based on my personal experiences, but, in your case on this video, I think the camera was auto correcting for the brightness of the snow outside, then 'came back' when it refocused on you. Just my 2 cents. Interesting video, much appreciated!
I thought the same exact thing, but I've filmed in similar lighting conditions with this camera and although the exposure fluctuates, never to this extent. Thanks for your input.
Numerous rumors on those steps upstairs, rumor 1. it was a bathroom with a pot in it. rumor 2. It was a place for Religious ceremonies. Rumor 3 it was a closet. Rumor 4 it was used by different families for different things.
Got a feeling the darkening effect here, at least, is just the camera getting confused by having dark interior and bright sunlight in the same frame without a contiguous light source, but. I'm a hobbyist not a pro. Note when you walk back towards the camera and it knows what it's focusing on again, the outside goes out of focus but the lighting returns to 'normal'.
The only issue is it took a significant amount of time from when I moved back closer to the camera until it corrected the exposure. As someone who works with this camera weekly for over a year, it's never behaved like this. Not saying it's paranormal, but is strange.
So your camera (Pocket 3?) shifted it's autoexposure from the building interior and you, to the exterior outside of the window -- that ended up having perfect exposure, but of course meant that the interior got quite dim. The Pocket 3 shouldn't have done that -- especially since you were moving, it should have stayed with optimizing the exposure around you. Very odd.
After having the pocket 3 for a year now, it's never behaved like this. It always fluctuates with lighting conditions and always puts emphasis on a human face. Even when I got closer to the camera, it took a significant amout of time for the exposure to correct itself. Kinda left me scratching my head on this one...
@@JPVideos81 -- I agree -- very odd. But it's not like a complete failure of the autoexposure -- it's like the Pocket 3 was paying more attention to the window, and what was outside, then to you -- but there was no one out there.... But that is a cool/sad place.
I agree JP, those structures look very sturdy. I think they will be there for a long time, and the dark figure you sent. That could be paranormal, that is really bizarre. And the camera going dark, I could see what looked like a head, and maybe an arm reaching out. Very Bizarre
Willd that these were built for high level employees ( that there was a plsyground and the like indicates that), cant imagine how miserable it was living without plumbing or electricuty. Plain concrete like this is cold..these days they 3d print houses but they are well insulated for summer and winter. Funny stury, there is a concrete house in Hopatcong NJ that was the home of the president of the DL snd W. There are all kinds of urban myths around it, it was demonic, etc. real.reason was they were building the morris and essex line, and he used concrete because they had it available from the railroad line construction. When these were mineworkers homes likely they were typical company houses, miners paid a lot of money in rent, this along w the company store kept them in debt to the mine company. I wonder if they were abandoned bc the local jurisdiction required the homes have indoor plumbing and electricity and it was just too expensive.
Hope you enjoyed the 100 year anniversary of concrete city being abandoned. What are your thoughts on the possible future of this place?
There's no future for that place. It's just decaying old concrete. They can't do anything with that except let it rot away or demolish it. I'm surprised any of it's still standing. Concrete usually doesn't last that long before breaking down. If there was going to be something done with it, they'd have done it long ago instead of waiting for the concrete to weaken over time.
Ahh...mold & mildew..you said in the video... run a dehumidifier?
@NoNORADon911 no electricity at these homes.
@ Yeah I know

I agree on the talented artists! Everything from Beetlejuice to Nightmare Before Christmas!
Its hard to arson concrete. Maybe these should be in California.

Crazy effect on the camera and it even "corrected" itself!! Great video! Thanks, as always, for taking us along!! ❤
Still don't know what caused it. Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for giving us this update!! I hope somebody takes your advice about saving this piece of history!! Great video!!! 👍🙏🏻♥️
Thanks for watching, I hope so too.

You made some good suggestions for a museum type setting. I also appreciate your concern, but I'm pretty confident in my abilities and would never do something if I think I have a high chance of injury.
It was fascinating to see the structures and then the photos. Thanks for another interesting history journal.
This was my basically my backyard growing up. Thanks for this!
I remember being here with you before. Fascinating place. I enjoyed the revisit. Thank you JP.
Great video. We'll get here one day hopefully before it's too late. Also, the vehicle looks like a Chevy Trailblazer or some variation
That’s wild J I’ve heard of places like this but it’s my first time seeing one. I think its future, if left relatively alone, will be a reclamation by nature. Really. Thanks for having me along to see it,
My pleasure greg
Oh yes!! I’ve seen a video of “Post 10” going through this!! Wild to think this was a whole community! They seem so unlivable… but I can imagine it was buzzing with 100’s of children playing all around there!!
Thanks for the before photos, it was really nice to see them
I remember our multiple trips here, sliding down where you slid down, R.J. doing Naruto Run, and the paranormal investigation.
Yes sir, we've made plenty of memories again and thanks for the clarification of the vehicle. I'll definitely be back again for another visit.
I was thinking about RJ and his Naruto run and you guys on the "slide" when watching this. It's interesting to see the place again. Another paranormal visit would be cool.
Great video, JP. I can't believe how much this place has changed. I agree with your idea of preserving the area.

Thanks for checking this one out
This was a great video and the change in the camera as you’re talking about the shadow figure was very interesting!
@jpvideos great video on concrete city bud and I’m digging the 2 tone beard
It would appear that the burnt vehicle was a practice for the fire dept. to use the jaws of life judging by the torn up roof columns.
Agree. Who else haul saws that cut through those pillars? 100% practice
Oh wow, the video got dark and then lighter. Creepy, great video
I spent several hours exploring there a few years ago - it is a very unique location, and well worth preserving in some capacity.
I dont think they had electricity and I wouldn't survive without air conditioning.
Oh oh oh, i know this place! Post 10 did a few videos here as well! This place is amazing!
It definitely it amazing
That was awesome. Loved the slide music😅. Those are definitely well built compared to today's standards. Hope you have a good New year.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I remember your past videos on this place, I don't remember you going into as much detail though. So thanks for a different view and more history.
Central California watching
I took a different approach and wanted to focus more on the history as it's equally as important as the buildings themselves.
Love your update videos❤❤❤❤
💙💙😊😊
I had never heard of this place; thank you for the tour! Very interesting and informative. What happened to you was kind of creepy when you saw someone walking fast in the house. It sure is nice to know someone else thinks like me. It would be great to see what they disposed of. It too is part of history.
Maybe someone has possibly already done that, but I dont know how close they were.
Great place for adventure great video thanks Jay

Had your band pictures taken here. Our band is OZ!
I can imagine this being a dope 420 and kegger spot back in the 70s,80s,and 90s.

The beard is kicking! That is how us Mountaineers do it 👍👍🇺🇸
I was wondering if it was haunted as soon as I saw the candles. You answered my question. Also, I hope you got new gloves for Christmas, Mr. JP. I'm going to get a pair soon hopefully.
My gloves are good. I have the index finger cut off so I use the touch screen.
Oh wow the darkness, and then it gets lighter. I’m creeped out. Great video
Love this place the .history of it
I remember that place and what looked like a long pool, water tank of some sort, possible a colliery was there?
It looks like an older grand Cherokee when they still had inline-six engines.
Hopefully its left alone. Thanks for the great video!
It's something that you would never know if you didn't do any research on it on how they lived back in the day, Jay, but like you said, it wouldn't be livable for a long time there.
Exactly true. Lots of details not often shared.
In Indiana there is a development of Thomas Edison’s concrete homes. They are quite interesting also.

Would be awesome to be able to stand there in the middle of the buildings and see everything at its most alive.
Awesome video! Where is this located in PA?
Nanticoke
Used to play paintball there in the 90’s. Good times.
I bet that place is very popular with the kids as a good party location, back in the day you definitely would have found me there.
It is
Where did they get their water from? (For washing, cooking, etc.) Loved the vid! 🙂
That's honestly a good question that I don't have a definite answer on. Possibly a well?
That is a lot of land & possible homes that could be lived in again. Needs TLC! & some imagination but would make for some great outdoor space too. 😊
Great video 💚👻
I would love to see that to.

I didn't take the time to scroll through the comments but I know for sure that is a early to mid 2000s model Chevy trailblazer
That suv looks like a Chevy trailblazer
At time marker 21:00 you can see where the outhouses were in the 1939 aerial photo
Love that place. Was that you that seen the ghost there? Sorry JP i have a horrible memory.
Yes, I did witness one.
No plumbing.Yikes!
Those are REALLY clean cuts in tbe sheet metal. You mentioned fire fighters used this for training, im thinking they placed that vehicle and used the jaws of life on it.
That's a possibility that I didn't consider. Thanks for sharing.

That camera issue was so strange and unplanned and hasn't happened since. Hope some of my recommendations will come to fruition.
Nothing is a coincidence...scientifically speaking.By the way.I got chills when your camera dimmed😮🎉
I got lots of mice in my barn and I stopped feeding them ... have to go outside and get some bird feed that I brought for the birds
Wow ! I bet living in a concrete house was cold.
What was that noise at 6 minutes and 43 seconds in the video whenever you said there is a basement sounds like to me somebody had burritos for lunch💩🤣
It better than my great grandpaps company house his was just a shanty
Was that place built on wetlands or something, your descriptions make it seem that way.
Love to buy that place and refurbish it
Numerous rumors on those steps upstairs, rumor 1. it was a bathroom with a pot in it.
The car looks like a Chevy Trailblazer.
Fingers crossed 1st to comment and watch😊
Where was the bathroom?
How did they bath and wash clothes? Thats crazy.I wouldn't want to like there.
I've never been there but even I know it's haunted
Where is this place?
Nanticoke, Pennsylvania
Bizarre indeed
I try to find it
There's one in Donora Pa! South Western Pa. Not abandoned. Lol. In Donora there's 30-40 concrete homes they actually call concrete city! 🤷
i made a cool video about this place too. it is one of the coolest place I've been to.
Nice. Thanks for checking out the video.
Just becareful with things like that .
The county will not do any thing with it!
