I'd assume she already knew English but wasn't able to speak well or had heavy accent which is a real common thing in Japan where they will be able to understand you and form responses but refuse to speak in English because they are hesitant and it was quite a common experience for me personally back there. She's likely doing a ton of practice and stuff to get better with this stuff I'd say
Its actually really nice that she learned english considering that her getting involved with asmongold gave her a lot of overseas viewers who probably aren't fluent in japanese I think she studied english really hard so she can talk to her overseas viewers This is probably not it but its endearing and cute to think about if this is the case
