Watch how shipping containers are loaded at the depot onto the delivery trucks. Tilt bed (roll off) trucks place the container down just like you see in the video. Flat bed trucks will require a crane or a forklift on site to unload the container.

What is the height clearance if download under the awning?

+TN H (htn43fishburn) Clearance will vary with delivery method (I don't work for the poster but I did build my shop from a couple of High Cubes.) If you have low clearance you could, and I would, place the container just outside any overhead obstacles then drag it into position. A forty-foot High Cube weighs about 10.000 lbs empty which isn't too bad. I positioned mine using scrap 6 and 8-inch pipe rollers in my sand yard. The trick is to cut dragging resistance. I used a Wyeth-Scott cast comealong (I don't work for them either but learned about them from the Pirate 4x4 forums), hydraulic bottle jacks and lots of 6x6, 4x4 and 2x4 cribbing along with steel shims to place mine on my steel beam foundation. You can move large objects with basic tools if you are patient and thoughtful.
A good railroad tie under each end is ample foundation depending on your soil. My location is a bit low so I had a load of railroad gravel dumped on the spot. I graded that by hand since I like exercise but the only comfortable base material I've found to rake is crushed asphalt. Crusher run concrete is worthless when it rains. Crushed asphalt packs hard, grass can grow through it but it stays hard, and it drains decently. Not being taxed for a paved driveway is nice too.
