Was almost completely unfamiliar with Beck, prior to last night. I had some kind of pre-conceived idea about him, based only on my age/his age, and simply never having really tried to learn anything about him. I tuned in to ACL last night, knowing that there must be something to him, given that not only has be been on ACL before, but that they would choose him for the opening show of their 40th season! I was absolutely blown away how much I loved his performance! I'm sorry now that I did not record it. Better late than never for me!
greasywrench jones Yes! I am also 61! The full episode is still up on PBS. I would imagine they will re-run it at some point. I will definitely be keeping up with ACL's schedule each week, even more than before! And I will not be so quick to "rule out" somebody, just because I don't recognize the name, or because I have a pre-conceived notion. ;)
MissAstorDancer I have been a huge Beck fan ever since his indie recordings (Mighty Good Leader and Stereopathic Soul Manure) - for more than 20 years. I encourage you to look up this songs and albums on youtube (and even to itunes if thats your thing), leave your pre-existing notions of specific music genres "at the door" and get to know his music. Beck's songs are a good companion, and you'll not regret doing it.
i like him back when he was backed by the flaming lips! The best was when he was on lollapalooza 95 before odelay came out he played a few of the tunes from that album and it was great!
SonicRave1 Yeeees! I was volunteering at a university radio station ta the time and was fortunate enough to be able to catch both the Chicago and Detroit Lollapalooza shows that year. It was pretty unforgettable.
I like the way that the band plays the samples live. Also, he really took offense at the media claiming that he was embodying the "slacker" stereotype, as he worked really, really hard to find success and have this hit single.
this prooves the biggest problem with rap music. It does not translate well into live performances. It is so cleaned up, edited, and enhanced in studio to make it sound easier to understand, then when the artist performs it live it is all mumble jumble
Beck is plain awesome.
Things are gonna change! I can feel it!
Beck has been on ACL a few times. always rocks the house, if you're a fan seek those performances out. Beck, the voice of a generation!
This is a great performance
When Rap and Rock combined for an awesome song !!

To me, this is the best live performance of the song he’s done. The energy is so vibrant

The Lawyers at Kraft would be all over it. Copyright claims galore
a tip : you can watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Zachary Imran Definitely, I've been using flixzone for months myself =)
love the old silvertone amp! if it's good enough for Jack White and Beck it's good for everyone!

I Would like to dedicate this song to Kanye

貝克就是帥❤
beck is awsome..fav song.loser
I swear that riff is lifted from Midnight Rider
Yeah, it's quite similar..
“I got tofu the size of texas”
Only Devils Heir Cut beats this!
May i ask is the bass player the nine inch nail drummer cuz he looks like it
Can we get a vinyl of this recording please
This is his best performance for this song lol
I'm a big ol Beck fan .... but still I gotta say ... Cocaine is a hell of a drug!
Crack Is Better!
The Shyyt fr.
The only good live version of this song as far as I've seen. By far my second favorite Beck song, the first being Where It's At.
Whats up with all the amps
There are multiple string instruments. Keyboards usually go right into the PA, but the band might use the amps anyway as monitors.
Beck looks like Dean Ambrose
I get the " Soy un Perdedor" but what is: Tofu the Size of Texas??
That's just a side note about how much tofu he had. What?
Too bad he didn't put on the bear costume for this one
what is beefcake pantyhose?
Common fucking sense compared to some of his lyrics tbh
who's the drummer?

Oh he can do it perfectly when he wants to. He just doesn't want to.
I love the way the band plays the samples live.
What a dead crowd ..
@got ruut indeed
Scientologist? WTF?
Wow, _that_ was disappointing. Still a creative genius, but here he is just channeling Justin Bieber.
Yes, he is channeling Bieber, who was a week old when this song was released back in 1994.
It sounded fine to me.
one of the gayest band s ever
???
