    These two matched up to create some of the most beautiful tennis I've ever seen. It was never an even match but James Blake always held his own to whatever extent is possible against a player of such other-worldly skill as Federer was.

    See how efficient Federer’s movement is. He’s always balanced and rarely wrong-footed. He had a rough start but quickly gained his exposure, unleashing his all around power. He’s got the most elegant game in tennis, bar none.

    • @apolloaxis
      @apolloaxis 12 днів тому

      It wasn't a rough start, it was a strategy, he let his opponent take all his chances so he can read his game real good and then block him in all positions. Plus also his opponent was giving his best on the first set so he knew he was going to lose his stamina on the second one

    This kind of level, the variety in his shots, the technique, the elegence, calmness... All converge in one, making it joyful to watch.
    But only one community deny this dominance in this year by the concept of weak era. How ridiculous and comedic as they are!!

    As entertaining as Federer/Blake matches always were, this was just a bad matchup for Blake. His style of play just doesn’t work against Federer. Federer enjoys playing hard hitters because he can blunt their power with his anticipation, chip returns, slices, and drop shots. Blake can hit the ball harder than Federer, but it doesn’t matter because all he’s doing is wasting energy. Blake was also a very fast player when it came to raw foot speed and changing direction, but Federer’s footwork and overall court positioning was superior. Federer was just way better at managing how much effort he put into rallies. Footwork makes a huge difference in matches like these. The other big difference between them is of course mental. Blake was a streaky player that could catch lightning in a bottle at any given time, or make 4 unforced errors in a row when serving for the set. And Federer was able to capitalize on this weakness many times. I really think a lack of coaching held Blake back from achieving his maximum potential. He only know one speed in tennis and never had an alternative game plan when things weren’t working. The only technical weakness I really see in Blake’s game is his serve, especially his second serve which is very predictable and exploitable.

    Blake started brilliantly, hitting so hard, but RF stayed calm and upped his game, and Blake couldn't keep up - serving errors etc. Exciting stuff, thank you Raz. Love Wushtheel's comment, keep them coming.

    Fed maybe got surprised by Blake's power / early game energy but once Fed cracked his movements, and once Blake got a bit tired it was game over. That's the thing - people underestimate how fit the Big 3 were and how long they could play at max intensity without their level dipping or surviving the opponent's onslaught when the opponent has the momentum, only to turn it around and snatch the game.

    • @RazOls
      @RazOls  Місяць тому

      @AstroPatel Tough question. TennisTV has a pretty big archive I’d say, but if you’re a devote tennis fan you’ve probably already seen most things that is on TennisTv. There are still torrents etc of old matches out there that is NOT on TennisTV. I guess it kind of depends which players you follow as well. I mean if it’s the current generation, they have replays of pretty much every match they’ve played on the ATP tour. If you’re talking about Fed, Nadal and Djokovic, what you find on TennisTV you’ll likely find on UA-cam as well (not full matches though).
      I’d rate their archive of replays of 7/10. They have A LOT but lacking many older matches. They have most finals though.
      TennisTV also have highlights and compilations, although to be fair you’ll these on their UA-cam channel as well.
