Over 130.000 people watching! Yay! Congratulations! That said, is anyone else missing DAVE? I know this is a group project and he's probably happy that he doesn't have to do all the explaining himself anymore and I don't want to sound clingy (nice try), but I've so gotten used to him. Thank god there's the Ridgeback. It's a joy to watch the doggo get acquainted to all the new people/noises/smells and finally go to sleep on the veranda. Still love the editing! Well done, y'all.

I'm glad you took some of the feedback and applied it to this video. I had to go back and watch one of the older episodes #37 in order to see what made me enjoy this so much. I too miss the drone shots showing the layout of the place shown and what others stated.

Tip for the next tree you need to cut: trim its limbs but leave a good bit of the main trunk so that you can use it as a lever to loosen the roots by moving it back and forth.

This is a great series. I love the personality inside of the videos although I miss Dave's calm narration. One thing I don't get is why people say it is too long. Personally it could be an hour long and I would still watch it. The style changed from last year, but you have to expect that. I respect the community for the work they put into the project and people should take that into account. Good-luck with future videos from your friend here in the States.

I have some unsolicited advice. Stumps will be a problem for you for years. There is a much easier way to remove them completely. Please search on UA-cam "spare tire stump extraction". It will save so much time and energy and be invaluable when you get to the mimosa forest. Thank you for all the hard work and I look forward to every new episode. I'm so happy you are back!

You can help plants that might struggle to survive winter temperatures by planting them on the south side of warm buildings. Adding a wind break can help too. Maybe a hardy ever green to either side to keep the cold wind off. Like a rosemary bush. I imagine your kitchen is warmer than the surrounding area. Planting the lemon grass close to the south side of that, with a little protection from wind, it might survive your winter.

I guess I do have to agree with most everyone else. The filming is much different from last year and in some ways, yes, it is better. (No offense about your cinematography skills 😁) the filming does seem to be more professional. But like others mentioned, I don't feel like I am really seeing as much of what is going on as we did last season and it feels less personal. Like we are less apart of the process. I am sure y'all can find a way to incorporate the new style of filming with the old and find a happy medium that everyone (or well, almost everyone, bc u can't please them all) is satisfied with.
Also change of topic and my random thoughts typed out as well :
Loquat is the name of the fruit. Google said the fruits are used to make herbal tea? Sounds very tasty. I absolutely LOVE lemongrass! I had actually never heard of it before I met my Pakistani husband. Also had a hard time trying to find it or any good herbal tea on the shelves if regular stores (like, not a specialty tea store) in North Carolina, but New York provides a whole range of herbal teas in their grocery stores. (I moved to NY 3 yr ago) though they are mostly the bagged variety. I find whole camomile & hibiscus leaf & mix of other things in a local Mediterranean grocery & kebab shop. I am lucky enough to get bags of lemongrass from Pakistan since I cannot grow my own like you are trying to do.

Your videos last season were really really awesome. From the content to the music, everything was spot on.

    • @kameljoe21
      @kameljoe21 2 роки тому +2

      Yep same here.
I think a lot of this has to do with spreading out the content to make it last longer. Trying to do an episode for each task. I mean what else did they do all week? This leads me to think that they are spreading it out. Though that does not really matter, its a great way to fill the whole year with content for when you only spend a few months at the place. Breaking up the daily tasks and mixing in some of the other things for a week will help.

Burning the surface of wood is a good way to make it rot-proof. The thin layer of carbon can't be reach by almost all microorganisms exept when a gash is made through the layer.
And this method is one of the most ecofriendly possible because you just need to repurpose a fire camp to made a rot-proof beam or post without adding chemicals or loosing properties of wood.

Firstly congrats on reaching 100K! And counting. I subscribed to Patreon today to hopefully get my opinion noticed more than if I just commented on the normal youtube videos.
This project stands out on youtube because it's following a narrative of rejuvenating a piece of unused land which is cool, but in the last episode it lost sight a bit. Both there and in this video, there are people who haven't been introduced which loses some of the storytelling. Also, I agree with another comment that subtitles are needed for the non-English conversation.
A couple of thoughts on the video - I loved last season how drone shots were used to show where new buildings were going/how different pieces of the Kamp fit together. I think that's something that the past couple of videos are missing. I appreciate the close-up videos of wildlife and what is being done, but having that without a wider perspective risks losing focus. I think this could have especially been done with the yoga place - flying a drone out and viewing the platforms from above would be a great shot.
Finally, I think there could be more timelapses, especially for repetitive tasks like cutting down hedges, or in this video I think having a time lapse showing all the plants being placed in the garden would have been good.
having said that, I'm liking the editing in these videos and it's clear that Felix is putting a lot of time and effort into them. I'm excited to see what's ahead and look forward to next week's video!

In the US, Southern yellow pines and Douglas-firs are used to make toilet paper strong. The shorter fibers of hardwood trees like oaks and maples give toilet paper its soft texture. These trees are farmed. They cut them down, and immediately replant because they will need those trees in the future to make paper. It is the papers companies best interest to re-grow their forest.

Congratulations on the 100k subscribers! There is something about the pace of the new videos that I have trouble with. Sometimes less is more. I don’t think there is a need to make a cut every couple seconds like in a music video. As a viewer it makes me feel rushed. I prefer the more relaxed approach to the editing. It is ok to film one thing a bit longer, it won’t get boring. I always enjoy the time-lapses. There can never be too many if those. 😊

Just wanted to point out that the paper production in Portugal goes well beyond toilet paper products like from the better known Renova brand, there's hundreds of factories, the biggest ones from big multinationals like Navigator and Xerox. The native forest in the country is actually under 1/3 of forest area, while the monocultures of eucalyptus cover over 1/3 and pine around another 1/3. The slow growing species like oak were a bit abandoned after Portugal stopped producing the big sailing boats from the times of empire and slave trade.
Both these pine and eucalyptus trees are not native, the pine started being planted way earlier and more spaced out to be used for wood furnaces of industries like glass and ceramics, sap and pine nuts. They are now well established mature trees in most part. On the other hand, eucalyptus have become an even bigger problem, they are "over-planted" so that no other species or weeds grow in-between, which just creates these fast-growing highly flammable walls that dry completely the soil around them. All this speeds up soil erosion, diminishing water absorption in the soil. It's a plant and forget easy investment, if it burns it's still sold... The cherry on top is that riparian and watershed ecosystems in Portugal are some of the worst preserved in Europe, making it also the number 1 on wildfires per area in Europe. Meanwhile there are plans for more big dam projects!
    *end long rant* 🙃

Nespera in English is Lowquat a small orange yellow fruit , thin skin similar to an Apricot though very different flavor and with four shiny dark brown seeds inside. Excellent fresh and very easy to preserve or make into jams or sauces.

For the people joining in Season 2, or for those who forget... maybe put a little bubble with the people's name the first time they show up on screen.
Lots of people at Project Kamp these days.
But it's also fine without this, I just want to see WHAT you do, not who is doing it.

I am excited with everything that is going on. It is cool that you guys are not just thinking about the basics of the Kamp, but making life there better, more enjoyable too!
I wanted to say that not only is this entertaining, but you guys showed me the wonderful tool that is the field hoe. I have seen it being used in almost every video and searched out where to get one. It is amazing to have and I use it so much in my outside projects.

Snelle tip!
    Haar puppy was hieraan overleden.

It is different. This vlog is different. That chill, layback, home made feeling is gone. That's the feeling that I got when watching Dave's video. I like the narration, the scene and view of the kamp while trying to achieve the small goal of the day. This one at the other hand is like an action movie, which is not my preference.. I find myself skipping almost 90% of the video..

Love the new season content! And love the focus on people who had a little less screen time the past season and getting to see them more!
Watching the garden planting, it might be helpful to break up the root balls a little more and spread out the roots so that the plant doesn't stay root bound in that small area!

Just discovered this channel with the first year recap video (6.2m views 👌😲) and then the next video with the plans for year 2. The family and I loved it and instantly subscribed. Thought we'd continue from the start of year 2 instead of watching from the beginning as we saw the year recap.
We were then really disheartened to see a total change in feel and style of the next 2 videos.....and no Dave! 😕 Thankfully reading all the comments it looks like Dave and his style is coming back. I think when income for the project development is directly linked to the videos you really need to play to your strengths and make the videos the priority; and Dave is a major asset. A great host and presenting style. I loved Felix's videography so hopefully between them they can come up with something even better still. 💪 Can't wait to see how it progresses.

A suggestion would be to look into aeroponics towers. It could save you a lot of room and allow you to grow different varieties of food. Even converting the large ruin into a greenhouse would be a cool idea, to help certain plants/trees survive the winter. Also, I feel that a lawnmower would do wonders in helping y'all keep the grass tamed and make places more accessible.

Thanks for your regulary updates! So interesting to see Project Kamp growing. We have one Problem since the beginning with the videos... The background sounds and the music is often too loud compared to the speaking people (also because of missing microfones near the people). We always have to change the volume which is really exhausting...
