Infest is it’s own genre
Like Discharge to D Beat-Infest was the prototype for West Coast Power Violence!
I was 17 when this came out. Fuckin floored.

I can't find any other band that can touch what Infest did. Nothing can match the energy and angst. closest thing is UK hardcore but even then this is a breed of its own.
There are a few American HC punk bands circa '85-'93 that I consider "contemporaries" of Infest:
Demise - From Santa Clarita / Valencia, CA, these guys played ultra fast HC punk with similar influences and ideas as Infest, but in their own unique style. Both Demise and Infest formed, released records and were active as a band during the same time period: mid 80s and early 90s.

Citzen's Arrest - From N.Y., this band is the East Coast version of Infest and Demise. They are one of those bands that played HC punk at ridiculous speeds heard in grindcore bands. What separates them from Infest, is that Citizen's Arrest has a few slower parts like moshing breakdowns that remind me a bit of Cro-Mags. They're different than Infest breakdowns, which draw more from 'My War' LP and sludge / doom metal versus NYHC.
Although these two bands may or may not answer your question of finding a band that matches the energy and angst of Infest, to me they certainly have a lot of musical similarities.
You should check out Joe's new band Exit Unit.
Siege is pretty close.
@@HardcoreMusicOrDie Siege is much better than Infest!
Neos from Canada.

My favorite punk band
More Infest material is always a treat. I imagine their shows where off the fucking wall similar to something like blackflag playing a single note and having the place explode without ever even playing a song.
cool ouvi muito a caminho da escola
Why is the last song on here a Melvin’s song
Weird right?I was thinking the same...
Life just sucks unless your high
That fucking snare
Does anyone have any stories about Infest? What were their shows like?
+zargmatt Two words: Meth, stabbings
And that's not an over exaggeration.
+Swaggy Bickford i have an inkling of a concept of what you are telling me, but alas i didnt do meth and never understood the culture. Does infest represent that dichotomy of meth abuse and youth culture?
zargmatt The powerviolence scene was full of crazy drugged up fucks. Lots of stabbings at gigs
+Swaggy Bickford The closest to a powerviolence band that ive seen live was the locusts but it was so long ago all i remember was running around in a little circle smashing into people lol
zargmatt Locust are a pretty good band but they came a little bit after the PV scene
