Dose is a can, like a can of soup. Tondose is a can of tones
How does a SPU As and an EMT 015 compare sound wise? Which one do you prefer and why? Thanks!
Original SPU A is a truly lovely sounding cartridge, but I've always preferred the TSD-15 as a near-perfect all-around cartridge. A bit more transparent and dynamic.
Love the video, finally someone explained the tondoses so nicely on a video
TMD : Tondose Mono
TSD: Tondose stereo
I have so much fun interchanging the different current production tondose cartridges. They are all of the same geometry, just plug n play!
You have the SPU Century as well, absolutely love that cartridge too!
A year ago it was a similar shipment from EMT. hmd - 025 and a hsd - 006 Munich
Wow! You and I are ahead of the curve! I'll be ordering an EMT Tondose "MRB" with the boron cantilever! I've never heard one, so it's a sight unseen purchase! Thanks for the overview! I have a better understanding of what I'm getting myself into! I hope it sounds good! Thanks!
I'm fascinated by the cartridge, but haven't heard it yet.
@DeVOREFIDELITY You haven't heard the Tondose MRB? Ok, once I receive it and get settled in with it, I'll keep you posted! I must add, John, on your channel, you are the first to bring light to these obscure broadcast cartridges! Thanks 😊
Great video, it would be another great one if you could make listening compares of both SPU,s and TD,s. I wonder if EMT or Ortofon have ever thought about making newer versions with adjustable azymuth.
Interesting comparisons. Is your zenith (or equivalently your overhang) right here? Looks off but could just be the angle of sight.
Great video thanks John. I would love for you to do a video on your thoughts with regards to cables, I know it is often a controversial subject but you've always struck me as giving your honest opinion with a distinct lack of bull, I would be very interested in your opinion, thanks for your wonderful channel and as always I look forward to your next showing
Thanks for playing another 78rpm record!
You're welcome!
I just love learning about this stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Jonny is that a new haircut?
John, what was the opening music selection?
Take The "A" Train & Perdido
Chico Hamilton Quintet: Ellington Suite on World Pacific Records. First recorded in August 1958 (with Eric Dolphy), again in January 1959 (with different musicians). The first recording stayed unissued for years.
