Great job, you cover all my pet peeve topics that there is common misinformation about, and the list of your vids that I refer people to just continues to grow, keep it up! :)
Idk there are a few games I’ve played stretched, that I could never probably play native again. I’m working on going back to native, because i personally feel like stretched makes life easier for hitting targets
stretched resolution isnt about fps or fov for most people tho..... Its about stretching the image horizontally to make targets wider. if i played 90 fov in R6, and swapped from 1920x1080 to 1440x1080 im INCREASING the amount of pixels that represent my target from left to right, thus making the target LARGER
thanks, because of this i will only use streched res in games with an fov slider, so currently warzone and apex. Fortnite and valorant will not be streched
You should do an updated video because I have heard "GPU scaling" is different to "Display scaling" with "CRU" (Custom Resolution Utility). Also, I can notice a difference in delay when I use Display scaling with CRU on 1720x1080 as soon as I switch to it, but I can also notice that my fps is -50 then what it is on native 1920x1080, it's like even with -50 fps the input delay is still lower and feels more responsive. Please do a latency benchmark, if possible. I have looked around for so long to find the right answer between the two and I know your videos are really informative so it would be good to know which is actually better.
Stretched resolution has more noticeable effects in gpu-bound scenarios. Lower resolution means less pixels to render which lead to less gpu strain. This theoretically means more fps and less input latency. But this can have varied results for everybody because of their hardware configuration and whether they have a bottleneck, ect. Overall, just try stretched res out. If it works for you then consider sticking to it. If it doesnt then run native resolutions. Dont always listen to pros.
"Fundamentally, we seek to avoid potential settings which provide players with a significant gameplay advantage" So an FOV slider (which every game implements nowadays), is a no-no. But we are okay with every player needing to download keys2X or Wooting to stay competitive?
Can you make a video comparing it with Nvidia reflex low latency because i know that with that on it sends data to the gpu more than the CPU so wouldn't that mean even on high end builds you would get less delay?
im on 1060 3gb and i5 11400f do u think lower res will help me? ps. not all people use streach fro the fps some just prefer seeing wider player models makes it easier to hit them even if its a placebo effect
I dont know, I tried streched, and the game looks laggy asf, like someone pouring sand into my eyes. With a 75hz monitor I had more then 150 fps, but still it felt much worse then native 1080p.
As you say it's subjective/preference, so it definitely doesn't make it "objectively" easier to hit shots, since there's no logic to that. I think Jack was sticking to the facts. If you want wider targets you could, for example ... sit closer to your monitor, there's no reason making the enemy thicc is going to help, when your crosshair is just getting stretched too ...
@@hecksmith Stretched res helps you hit more shots because the character takes up more space on your screen. The hit box doesn’t change but it is still easier to hit shots. It’s like frame rate, having a higher frame rate makes it feel like your character is moving slower even though it isn’t. Sitting closer to your monitor doesn’t have the same effect because the character models still take up the same amount of space as they did before, you’re just more zoomed in and that is not the reason why stretched res is good, that’s actually the downside of stretched res, you are slightly more zoomed in giving you less fov which makes your awareness a bit worse. If you tried to sit closer to your monitor to get the same effect you would have to sit so close that it would be bad for your eyes and give you even worse awareness than stretched res.
@@hecksmith Try it, you can’t tell me it isn’t easier. You also just ignored the part about frame rate or the fact that the character models take up more space on your screen thus making it easier to hit shots. Try stretching the Y axis instead of the X axis and you’ll find that it is actually harder to hit your shots.
@@ryanfnm7666 You see the problem in the fact it makes your crosshair wider too? It's not just "easier to hit targets" since everything is scaled up, _including_ your crosshair. That's why it's entirely subjective. There's no objective benefit.
Hey man i have this bug when i put 1280x1080 or 1280x1024 its like normal res but i wanna use 1720 x 1080 and when i put the 1720 x1080 everything is so thin and like skinny so do u know how to get the normal res back?
I love 1680x1050 I hit way more shots and it's just more appealing the down fall is fov. Causing bad awareness. Will switching to the alternative resolution make everything back yo normal?? Not stretched at all?? If so I don't think I'd o ot because my aim will definitely be worse.

You must’ve been doing something incorrectly. It’s been 5 months obviously, but if you’re still having this issue, watch one of ItsJerian’s recent videos on it. That should definitely help
No dude, cpu bottleneck means the GPU is running at 90%. If the GPU is running at 99% it's fine Lower the resolution the more you get into cpu bottleneck They can't ban anything, the resolution is controlled by the GPU or monitor, it's like banning 21:9 or 32:9 resolution because it gives you a better FOV , complete rubbish
1280x720 would give you more FOV and *also* let you use that extra FOV in arena since it would bring your aspect ratio to the 16:9 standard, I'd give that a shot! Set your scaling mode to "aspect ratio" in NVCP if you don't want everything to look like a slim jim tho!
Great job, you cover all my pet peeve topics that there is common misinformation about, and the list of your vids that I refer people to just continues to grow, keep it up! :)
keep it up! your content is the best ❤️
I find that any other resolution that isn't native resolution ends up feeling more responsive, even with such a small decrease in resolution.
Smaller resolution = less pixels for your gpu to render
Less gpu strain = theoretical lower latency
on native I get 60-100 fps, on a streched rez like 1024x768 I get 160-200 fps

simple: use galaxy swapper to increase the fov and use streched for wider player models
galaxy swapper is a virus

so basicly if you have a better gpu than cpu use native and if you have a better cpu than gpu use a lower res
