Roger E Mosley from Magnum PI said the same thing. We were at a party and someone asked him how to get into acting and be successful. He said, “Talent.” True story.
One of the most thoughtful conversations/interviews I've ever seen on acting and the acting business. Karen's questions and overall conducting of the conversation and responsive yet uninterrupting listening is always brilliant. Thank you so much, Karen and Michael.
I’m not even in the biz, am a blogger / writer-for-self in Florida… but 5:30 am every day at Stbx… I use Film Courage to get me into my own skin to write. ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Thank u on prefection. I had to let go of burden of prefect and how much time u losses with this mind set. I appreciate that and ur work. Branching out now letting go of prefetion. Bless ur day
I’m a school counselor for K-6, and the piece about how the strategy for the scene, project, career, and life is all the same thing is totally relevant. You kind of go in and out of being a director and an actor, and the kids know it and love you for it-if you respect the life force and embrace it.
At 8:27 I really don’t think Seinfeld was laughing at you. He’s laughing at his own joke, playing out in his head that he wrote and what is funny is George’s character because the thought that they are picking him is BS. He’s laughing at George’s character, I believe.
The reason why make then laugh I think it’s our thoughts get stuck in a way, our faces make it funny it’s a natural thing. It’s just happens it’s annoys me when I try do serious at times I come off funny not wanting etc
12:44 How "they" reconcile that? I guess he is part of the ones with talent... And ppl with lots ambition and little talent... are alien to him. I say... Madonna is a great example of that. Used to be a fan...
I couldn’t disagree more about his comments on “talent”. In fact he contradicts himself on the topic . Says talent is inherent in only some people yet when talking about children says all of us are hardwired to play as other characters. Then says acting is just the process of getting back to that time when we played as children. So which is it? We’re all hardwired to pretend authentically or acting talent is only bestowed upon a lucky few? I think the whole “born with talent” schtick is just a form of gatekeeping. Don’t let anyone tell you if you can be an actor or not. If you want to be an actor then go do it. Train, learn, practice, create, collaborate, improve, etc. Ignore the people who say you can’t do it!

This is going to be a good one
Good question, that's a really good question..... great question 😂😂😂
I definitely agree with instincts
You still have to develop your talent. you could have had the talent inside you all along, but it was buried underneath fear and insecurities, etc..
The reason why make then laugh I think it’s our thoughts get stuck in a way, our faces make it funny it’s a natural thing. It’s just happens it’s annoys me when I try do serious at times I come off funny not wanting etc
It need help on weird stuff I pretty figure those out cause I did a I nerd stuff. So I get it
I agree, not that I think that I have any kind of talent, but I really think you just cannot teach something like that. Yet you can learn it.
That “talent” needs a push, plot practice, to let out. You also need many opportunities to try your roles
That explains why I am the way. I am open. Lol

Aim high to hit in the middle? That does not sound as success at all. How about realistic expectations? Yet ego for sure is the fuel of the genius....
Define "realistic".
