    Profound and reflective piece to come out of such an early mind! Wolfgang's genius is palpable throughout: this is a superior product even to the work of other (older!) masters of the time. Its brevity only raises the impact of the music. Thank you for the sheet music!

      Have you listened to Michael Haydn's Requiem (1771) or Missa Sancti Nicolai Tolentini (1768)? The use of harmony is more dissonant than even later Mozart.

    It's good that it has parts for violins, violas, cellos, double basses, trumpets, French horns, trombones, and tubas.

      Mozart tenía profundos sentimientos arraigados a cada tonalidad. A pesar de estar compuesta a una temprana edad (12) esta obra demuestra que el músico ya tenía una conexión con Re menor: oscura, pesada y reflexiva. Sin duda una tonalidad que le quedaría marcada como para escogerla para su Opus Ultimum.

      @@DanielFahimi: It was the custom in Salzburg to have trombones doubling the bass, tenor, and alto choral parts. Mozart didn't usually write out their parts into his score; he simply wrote next to those voice parts "coi tromboni" when he wanted them to double the voice parts, or "senza tromboni" when he didn't want them to play. Occasionally, would write parts for the trombones when the voices were resting, using the same staves that the voice parts were notated on.

    • @friedrichanton4280
      @friedrichanton4280 Рік тому

      Colla-Parte Trombones were very much usual.
      So even when there were no sources, it would be quite ok to put them in the critical Edition.
      And heaven their sound fits greatly to the sadly minor tune.

    LOL, and somehow people dare to say Mendelsohn's early output is superior to Mozart's. Ignorants who never heard this early sacred works!

      I personally think Mendelssohn's early output is possibly very slightly superior in terms of beauty and musical quality, but they are on pretty similar levels. Just my personal opinion.
