It looks like a really nice kit. I cannot wait for the two I have pre-ordered to arrive. Looking forward to seeing you build this one. Thanks for sharing.
Cool kit. Fine video. In the mid 70s I was operating a 71 F350 2wd wrecker for Pierson Towing in Encino, CA. Other than the 4wd/2wd, and the wrecker body was a very similar Lamb body from LA, the whole rig was very much like what Moebius has created here. My truck was Ford Wimbledon White with navy blue trim on the top edges of the bed, the floor, the A-frame and boom. It had markings for 24 hr. Service, National Auto Club, AAA, and a couple of others. Phone number on the sides of the hood. After the other driver quit, it was just the boss and me, plus another driver who operated out of another garage across the valley. He was an 8-5 guy. The boss worked nights for the OPG (Official Police Garage) in the area where Rodney King had his s uffle with the LA cops. So any night calls came to me. I worked out of a Texaco station on Ventura Blvd at the Encino/Sherman Oaks border. You know...Land of Valley Girls. That was 7AM until 8PM. Then I worked out of my home 15 miles away in San Fernando. Nights, I would often finish a tow or service call, go home, take off my shoes, lay down on my bed, fall asleep, get a phone call 15 .minutes after I laid down, throw my shoes back on and hit the road. The area I covered included all of the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Pasadena, downtown LA,Hollywood, West LA, Santa Monica, into the surrounding mountains. Quite a large area. Sometimes the calls involved towing a car across LA to near the customer's home. I technically had 12 hours off on Sundays, from 6AM to 6PM. ALWAYS got calls during that time though. I was making good money. But could not use any of it except on fast food. I ate most of my meals in the cab on the road. I kept asking the boss to hire another driver. He would ask if I was allergic to money. I would respond, "No, I'm allergic to falling asleep at the wheel. It causes crash rash." He would laugh but would not hire anyone else. Then one afternoon, I was on the 405 freeway northbound in fairly heavy 55mph traffic, with a brand new Cadillac on the hook. I woke with a start. 3 miles north of where I remembered. Having just gone through an S-bend. Now in a different lane than I had been. I finished the tow, went to a shop that made and sold accessories for Toyota Land Cruiser 4WDs. The owner had made a job offer when I went to jump start his wife's car. I accepted his offer. Then went to my house and hooked my Baja Bug on the tow truck. I hadn't driven my personal car in over 2 months. I drove to the Texaco station. Unhooked my Baja Bug. Walked to the office where my boss was BSing with the owner of the station. I tossed the keys to the tow truck on the desk and told the boss to call his wife to tell her to cut me a check because I quit. He wa dumbfounded. Sputtering. Asked me who was gonna take the calls. I told him I don't work for the company anymore and didn't care. I went to my Bug and drove to the boss's house to get my final check. Had to listen to his wife pleading me to stay on for another month. Told her I'd been warning him for months. Drove away. Last time I drove a wrecker. Wow. 50 years ago. I want a pair of these. 1 to build with front suspension from a 2wd version of the Ford pickup and custom decals for Pierson'sTowing. And one to build 4wd per the kit.
Looks awesome! Can’t wait for the build vid I’m going to order me one we can’t buy model cars around me anymore so now I get the good stuff since I have to order everything on the net we never really have had anything but I’m 52 and remember mom and pop stores had a good selection as a kid but they have been gone for years but we have a hobby lobby and they always have the same thing for years and no new kits or anything like supplies I want, luckily I have over 1000 unbuilt kits I’ve bought through the years that was 5 to 10 bucks then to always fall back on
