It's funny to me that there are such polar opposites on the spectrum on all music proficiency levels. I've met and played with people who absolutely despise anyone that takes their music seriously and thinks you always have to be able to distance yourself from your art and idols. And equally as many who are adamant about musicians having to dedicate their entire waken life to perfecting what they do and strive to be better and more of what they are, ridiculing anyone with any kind of lax or lighthearted attitude towards any piece of music.
Man, I say, you do your music your way and leave others to do theirs their own way, regardless of what that may be.
The one person I can think of aside from Prince who was like that was Frank Zappa. Zappa took everything too seriously despite his music being mostly silly and not very serious.
