I've wandered into my most secret desire for a hobby. Quilting. Oh my goodness. I'm a 45 yr old former Marine (guy). I've only slightly dabbled with a sowing machine. I'm also a tradesman ( handyman) and I also am an avid horticulturist. But I sometimes dream of sitting down and joyfully sowing, making something that mysteriously and wonderfully becomes something that keeps me warm. I'm laughing out loud because this is completely anonymous. I believe the desire comes from having used antique quilts stuffed with rags we bought at an auction in southern Pennsylvania. I remember the weight and how it took 10 minutes to get warm but once it warmed it was the best sleep I've ever had. I remember the quilts were hand stitched with crows feet stitches. I learned that from my best friends Nanna who would sit and hand stitch for hours. I wonder if I'll ever make the leap to give it a try. Thanks for the video.

You should definitely give it a go! Have you ever looked at The Quilting Marine? It's another quilting-related UA-cam channel and, as the name implies, the quilter is a former Marine! Donna's patterns and tutorials here (Jordan Fabrics) are easy to follow -- she's a great teacher!

I like your tutorials the best because of how thorough it is. You're detail oriented like me so I appreciate even showing us where to go on the website to get the pattern instead of just saying 'go to the website'. I also love that you don't just cut and sew or do a quick pass of how to piece together a block. You explain the best way to cut, you've introduced me to finger pressing, and I don't know why but I love the sound of the fabric being cut! I'm in southern California but I would love to come up to your shop someday! I would probably never leave though. Lol

I dropped off my 7th quilt to the longarm yesterday. She commented she was impressed at how my piecing skills had improved in less than a year and wanted to know if I’ve been taking a lot of classes. I said YES I attend Donna Jordan school every time she posts a new video and mostly attend first thing in the morning before I get out of bed 🤣 THANK YOU Jordan family!

I'm an American ex-pat living in the UK where it's pretty hard to find Americana fabrics. I was so excited to see this pattern and fabric because I'd love to make a quilt like this for my dad, who is a Vietnam vet. But there's no way I could afford or even use such a huge fat quarter bundle!! I was thrilled to see so many American-themed fabrics, but sad that I can't have them. I guess I'll just have to keep looking. I love your quilts, Donna. I love yours & Matt's site and shop and everything, and if I ever moved back to the USA I might have to think about moving to Oregon (though I have no family near there.) Thanks for all of your inspiration and excellent teaching.

You give the best instructions for little things. I have been an accomplished seamstress for years but learning machine quilting. Of course my grandmother taught me to hand quilt. The simple idea of stitching just a little on other side of line on corner pieces has made such a difference in how they look and fit. Thanks a lot.

Absolutely love this one! I have had a hard time with the strip sets in the past; getting them straight and what not. I am ready to try again because you have a good way of teaching. Love the fabrics and that back was absolutely amazing!! Happy Quilting!! 💕🧵

Beautiful quilt. I love the fabric and design. That panel on the back really sets it off. Yikes, another one to add to my list of quilts to do!!
