Printed photos are so different. With my first born we kept everything digital and rarely looked back. Now I have photo books made and I love having the hard copies to flip through.
I just got my box today so I could finally watch your video! I also def geeked out when you said you did WarHammer 😂 I’m a d&d kid so I understand the hype for minis
I love all the items! I’m going to put all my author letters and prints in my album because I’ve had nowhere to display them. I was disappointed with the customizations of the book though.
aww im a little disappointed in the book cover tbh!! i feel like illumicrate does such beautiful editions and this one could have been so much better but nevertheless, im SO excited to read it, ive been waiting to read POAT!! love the photo album though!! and I’ll definitely get some use out of the book pot and bookmarks. pretty solid box!
My favorite take away from this video was your attitude about printed photos. I've always felt as you do. When I was a little child, one of our favorite things was when our Mother got out our baby books and told us the stories behind the photos.
I’m really looking forward to getting this box! I know a lot of people skipped because they weren’t happy with the book choice since it wasn’t fantasy or any of the popular releases that other boxes were doing, but this book was on my list to look for since early in the year so I’m happy to have an IC edition of it (though I agree that they could have done more with the cover). I just really appreciate that they pick something different every once in a while so we don’t end up with all the same “hyped” releases that every book box is doing. Also, I just love that book pot! 😍 it’s one of my fave items to get and I hope they continue with them. As always thanks for posting your review, I so love watching them! :)
I feel exactly the same about photos myself! Its so hard to admit but I am an 80s girl (late but still XD)However I am very happy to use this album for the prints I got through the years and I feel utterly dumb that buying an album for them never crossed my mind lol. I feel extremely underwhelmed by the book, I think I prefer the orig cover tbh and I feel very sad about it because it was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. The rosithorns diy is LOVE also these don't come cheap! I can't wait to spend some time crafting and I adore that they went out of their for unusual items this month. I don't much care about the bookmarks and the pot, but I am sure I'll be able to either trade or sell them :)
I do like the contrast of the blue & yellow and how it ties in with the yellow pot. Ic def stays on theme. I think the background of the dust jacket is the same print as on the foil of th ehardback. So that’s cool. But yeah a lil more wow would have been nice.
Loveee your unboxings! I'm excited for my box but also have mixed feelings about the yellow bookpot and the exclusive cover design :/ I really wish they did stenciled edges too
I LOVE the album, it's so so beautiful. Slightly disappointed with the book not having anything 'wow' to what they've done previously, but really looking forward to reading it!
The rosiethorns item is actually such a surprise! Her papercraft kits are like $20-30 USD on their own, and that's without resale markup. This is such a high value box!
I think Owlcrate did a little photo album a couple months back. Not nearly as glamorous, but I'm keeping some of the bookish art I like inside it because I have no other ideas about what to do with it. I love photo albums though. I have an aunt who lives in an old Victorian and has a lot of the family heirlooms at her house. Every year at the holidays we go through old photo albums she has. Some are from the 1800s! I'm catsitting for her right now and should try to get a photo of one of the older albums to share on Twitter. Those book pots are one of the reasons I'd love to try Illumicrate for a time. I need them to get on more affordable US distribution ASAP lol. I did order their Dark Academia box secondhand so I could get the book pot, but honestly I loved everything in that box and was stoked to find it stateside for around $50. I don't think I would care as much for the yellow one either, but they're still lovely items to get! I currently use my purple book pot to store my favorite bookmarks. btw, if you like heist stories, you should look up the Transylvania University heist. Involves art and books. There was a movie made about it called American Animals. I haven't seen the movie yet though because I kind of have mixed feelings about it---I attended the university and know the librarian (a super sweet lady) had PTSD from it.
I did the same thing of immediately googling the cover to see the differences after opening my box lol. Something interesting is the US editions have a reflection of an art gallery in the glasses, whereas the UK editions have a reflection of Beijing
i never wanted this book, i only kept it because of the book pot haha, But the foil at least looks pretty, but agreed they could have done so much for the cover. I love the idea of the photo album, i wonder if tape would keep them in place if you wanted more than 1 photo per page? My mum scrapbooks so all our photos are in that, but might be an idea to use it as a mini scrapbook album?
for the cover, i really expected a change in the glasses reflection to have the character looking at a beautiful painting or something i think... i find the change they made really interesting, because it opens the way for covers with whole additions to the image rather than just changing colors, but in this case it is so hard to notice the change made haha. i guess that means they nailed it in a way, in that it looks like it belongs? but it just doesn't excite. i do like the foiling on the bare hardcover so i expect to keep the book because of that
This will be my first Illumicrate box and I'm sooo looking forward to it! Last month I got off the Illumicrate waiting list and tried your code for my 6 month subscription and it didn't work🥲 but other codes didn't work either so that's a shame. Only had a short amount of time to subscribe so I couldn't ask for help 😓
I was telling my friend that I have so fee photos of me and my boyfriend even tho we've been together for ages. We just never remember to do it and we both shy away from photos. And she made a physical photo album for Xmas of pics she had taken of us at various parties and events over the years. I cried so hard.
The photo album is amazing! I keep thinking of going through some of my pictures and print them and put them up around the house. The reverse dusk jacket looks amazing, it is a shame that it's not end pages so you can't see it all the time.
I wasn’t hyped for this book so the fact is also isn’t very different to the original cover isn’t great. I’ve been pretty disappointed for 3/4 months now which makes me sad as Woven Kingdom and Little Thieves were BEAUTIFUL, I thought it was a new standard for Illumicrate. I really liked the ceramic book, big yellow fan. The album is perfect for storing all the art prints from my boxes. The bookmarks would’ve been great if I’d read the book. Not a massive fan of the paper craft again as I’ve not read the book but I think overall, solid items this month.
I get some people enjoy the surprise but I’d love to know what I was getting before I paid for it because I don’t want a single thing from this box. Not interested in the book and the items are useless to me. I don’t want to have to go through the bother of reselling so I wish I could know in advance what I was buying. I don’t want to miss the things I actually want so I’m just stuck paying and praying 😂
I was super disappointed by this month. The yellow isn't my vibe for the jars but I'd wanted one finally on my shelves! And the photo album isn't useful for me at all 😢 the bookmarks aren't anything I'd care about, the paper art is... imo a waste of space lol, and I'm SO mad about the art on the book cover! It's basically the same and just WHY?! Yeah I was a bit sad lol
This is going to be my very first illumicrate box and outside of the photo book it’s kind of lackluster. I’m kinda disappointed with the book 😭 rlly wish I could’ve skipped this month.
This box for me is disappointing. I wish I skipped this month. The only thing I like is the photo book. You mention Fairyloot adult book been a block spayed edge but I felt that at least it matched with the book. I didn’t like this yellow. This box and the March was not what I was expecting, I hope that things get better for the May box
My toxic trait is that I watch these as soon as they come out and cannot wait long enough to be surprised 😂
Sydney nooo 😂😂😂
@@Wanderness it could be worse toxic traits 🤷♀️🤷♀️ 😂
Girl same
@@chloecyr-roncetti2422 right 😂😂😂
Same😅

Aww, absolutely x
Hearing you talking about the photo album was so heartwarming! You've inspired me to pick one up
That photo album is STUNNING! I’d pay good money for an album that looks so beautiful to look at.
I just got my box today so I could finally watch your video! I also def geeked out when you said you did WarHammer 😂 I’m a d&d kid so I understand the hype for minis
love your idea for a brown, super old book-inspired book pot!
I love all the items! I’m going to put all my author letters and prints in my album because I’ve had nowhere to display them. I was disappointed with the customizations of the book though.

Agree, given the art theme of this book I was expecting that this would have been really special

If the book choice is one you were really looking forward to anyway then you're already into a winner really :) so pleased you liked this box!
Getting mine soon! So excited
You are so right about printing photos and the stories, spot on.
It's a lost art
@@Wanderness it is, definitely

Hi Ness, I used my album to store my Illumicrate spoiler cards and author letters. It’s the perfect size.
I've put mine in there too!
I love your reactions in these unboxing videos 🎁📚❤️🥳
❤
Awe man that exclusive cover is so :/// looks like they chucked a piece of clip art onto it

Hi Darlene, I'll raise it with the Illumicrate team and see if theres anything that can be done about the code not working, I'll come back to you!
@@Wanderness Wow, thank you! That's so kind of you 😢😍
I like the book edition i do wish the art was inside the hardcover and i wish they had little tigers on the sprAyed edges
the last album i got like that i use for my fairyloot and illumicrate spoiler cards i think they called it a print album as its A5
I was devastated when Fairyloot shrunk their spoiler cards, but for this I'm just going to get A5 photos of my wedding printed ❤

Aww that's lovely!!
Noooo, the 1 month I had to skip they do a yellow bookpot, my favourite colour rip
The photo album is amazing! I keep thinking of going through some of my pictures and print them and put them up around the house. The reverse dusk jacket looks amazing, it is a shame that it's not end pages so you can't see it all the time.
I would actually love a series of bookish photo books!
I liked this book more than expected, but it's not really my typical read
I wasn’t hyped for this book so the fact is also isn’t very different to the original cover isn’t great. I’ve been pretty disappointed for 3/4 months now which makes me sad as Woven Kingdom and Little Thieves were BEAUTIFUL, I thought it was a new standard for Illumicrate.

I've put all the character art in the photo book xD

This is all totally valid!!
I can never get enough of that accent lol
I found the paper craft very childish I wasn’t too happy about it the rest I like I just think the items could be a bit more sims at ya/adults
Agree that the intended age of items can definitely be all over the place!
This is going to be my very first illumicrate box and outside of the photo book it’s kind of lackluster. I’m kinda disappointed with the book 😭 rlly wish I could’ve skipped this month.
