A banker appointed as a minister in an engineering firm. What a colossal mismatch and wanton disregard for engineering in Nigeria. He is talking of financial engineering as if he has any engineering experience.
Another "square peg in a round hole." Revitalizing a steel company or steel sector is not primarily about financing. This requires an Engineer. Mechanical, Industrial, Metallurgical, Chemical or a Material scientist. These Engineers needs a finance guy like him on the team. A finance guy cannot head this kind of project. For example, he spoke for a long time without any technical description of what a steel company does. A lot of "Mr. President, Mr. President, Mr. President!!! A lot of bogus plans that cannot be finished instead of a more streamlined and focus goal. Sad! What about the money paid to the Indians for the prevoius turnaround? Who stole it? Sad!!!
You have said it all. Is the technology upon which the steel plant was built still relevant and cost effective? Are there not units that can be kicked into operation to generate cash flow while the overall development is ongoing?
Talk, talk, talk. They never get anything done. Keep all that talk to yourself. Nigerians do not trust you politicians. There is a huge trust deficit between them and you all. The only to change this is showing them results, not all this talk on TV. Sir, you have great plans. Now get to work and come back to show us results.
Conflict of interest is Nigerian biggest problem, as he is talking so eloquently, there is no telling what other craft he is thinking of, otherwise why is 45 years required to fix this thing
Talking is not the solution. Half measures wont also do. Reviving ajaokuta and even expanding it requires the commitment of tinubu himself. He should lead the revitalization of it becos it requires so so much of financing and planning. Sadly tinubu has not shown such commitment, only some talks here and there
Mr, Minister what have you achieved since you've been minister? Free trade zone, that's good but since you've been minister let see what you've done. Enough of this, some minister are just taking no result.

For any project, viability is the name of the game.
