Absolute beauty. Note how still his head stays--it's always behind the "www." graphic. Perfect pre swing hand position, short, compact backswing, full finish. Not sweeping or fluid, but like a Rocky Marciano knockout punch, Trout's swing is short, compact and delivered with maximum power. Magnificent.
My coach told me that the order in which body parts reach their max speed is 1. Hips 2. Torso 3.arm 4. Hands if you watch this and really look it all starts with the waist. (I mean yeah the leg but that’s just a timing thing for most players.) my swing would be a shit ton better if I had listened to him.
He gets his weight off his back foot. Instead of “squashing the bug”, or rotating with his weight back, he shifts onto his front side. Not every pro drags their toe, some lift it up, some rotate onto a toe, but they all transfer weight to their front side.
really nice swing, and what Joe Flowers said about Mike not using his lower body is false. When he swings you can see the hip rotation which starts his swing, and how he hits against his front leg which is stiff. His back foot drag is proof of this rotation. really nice swing.
One of the problems in my swing Is that I drop my right shoulder when i swing, leading to lots of pop ups. Mike doesn't drop his shoulder here, he rotates it
What people probably wont see is that he dipped and thats not a bad thing but dropping your elbow that early will most likely result in a pop up for less exp players :D
That looks extremely fundamental to me. Like he could teach little league kids how to hit a baseball. It doesn't seem like it has a lot of swagger to it like most of the modern greats. I've always though he hit baseballs a lot further than it looked like when he connected. It just goes to show that good fundamentals and footwork really do payoff.
I often call my 16yo son his swing doppleganger, which is probably asking alot (but it makes him feel good). Anyways, I use this video often when we break his swing down.... 1:03 is the super slow motion part... ua-cam.com/video/9CRyG_JjXeE/v-deo.html
Strength, like money, can mask a lot of missed optimizations. Mike depends heavily on his upper-body and arm strength. That is obvious. He does not use a lot of his lower body in comparison to other great hitters. This might contribute to his high batting average because he is able to keep his eyes still more instead of shaking them from more movement and timing issues. I would not call his mechanics beautiful or fluid. More like a bull in the china shop, but obviously effective if you have that kind of upper body strength.
Chris Notestine Exacty, you have no clue what rotational hitting is, and you obviously don't have a clue what I said or what it meant. I don't have time for your mental midgetry.
Joe Flowers Oh really he doesn't use his lower body. Really. His belt buckle is pointed at the pitcher, his rear leg lifts off the ground, back knee goes down and in and knocks his front side knee straight. Perfect lower body mechanics. Please oh wise one explain to me what rotational hitting is then.
Chris Notestine I think you are both right. But looks can be deceiving. Here is why, 1) Joe Flowers, it appears he does not use his lower body as much because he does not have as MUCH disassociation between his hip and shoulder angles. 2) Chris Notestine, It appears he is rotating his hips but rotation of the hips is a consequence to appropriate pivoting on the Acetabulum. He keeps his head stable because of the stability in his shoulder (effective retraction and protraction) of his shoulders and effective pivoting on the glenohumeral and atlanto-axial joints. Good day Gents!
Let me question something do you know where you will go after you die? If not let me say you can have a choice to either go to hell or heaven see 2000 years ago there was this man named Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and rose alive 3 days later all because he truly loved us he died for us so I question you now do you truly believe in Jesus or do you live for the world turn to Jesus Christ trust in him Christ has way much more to give than the world he loves us turn to Christ!
I'm really simplifying this but i can see it being akin to how you'd want to throw a punch.. The power comes from the drive from your legs and you hit through the ball not just at the ball. The rest is obviously core and arm mechanics.. and of course.. naturally having a good eye to place the sweet spot where you want it.
And bouncing off of what i said about having an eye for it.. you can have buttery smooth robotic like mechanics but if you don't have a good eye then it means squat. And that, i would assume is not really something you could just teach someone.
I love the way he goes airborne in the follow through as he starts to run....Beast for sure, for years to come....
And u were correct
this aged well
3 mvps, 9 all stars, you were right.
Coach wilson is a legend.
Def knows his stuff, but even if he doesn't mike trout being a beast is as clear as day.

This is a thing of beauty
A lot similarities between this and the golf swing. Lot of power, early clearing of the hips, lag and then keeping the bat in the slot. Great video.
perfection
It actually wasn’t perfect his back foot didn’t turn all the way
@@EXT3457 and?
@@EXT3457 3 MVP lol
back foot doesnt neex to turn all the way
perfect swing
But late to reply but… yeah!
You don’t even see where he hit the ball but you can already tell it’s gonna be a home run
this dude is straight out BEAST!!!
Best all around player I had ever seen hands down
Damn that leg kick tho
I love the way his bat accelerates through the zone, poetry in motion🎉
Talk about perfect form ... 😤
good golf swing insights in this video too. Specifically the right elbow... squeeze those elbows together boyz
Ahhhh,
Mickey Mantle would be so proud of this phenom.
He's been compared to the likes of mantle mays and so many others the new face of the MLB!!!!
I felt every muscle in my body needed for this
0:23 my mans was flying
Perfect Swing
Mike Trout what a shot 👏👏👏👏
a thing of beauty!
Yup👍
I used this as reference for animation practice about a year ago and now its in my yt feed again
Beautiful
0:26 both feet off the ground
Yeah he was g toting ready to run
Thanks for helping me make an animated flip book of a baseball swing :D
can u show it to us?
Thanks hopefully I’m am good now
I’ve watched this over 50
Times now
100
10000
Beauty helped me a lot through a slump
good stuff!
Beast!
He always does that weird little jump after contact
yes someone who noticed
Just look at how still his head is. Crazy
Mmmm silky smooth
The bat is screaming holy smokes.
Bent front knee drag the back toe, becomes a kick stand. Hands short and through the ball. Gorgeous
Crazy now a days it’s long to the ball short after contact
PERIPHERAL VISION BEEEEIIIICCCHHH!!!!
Can’t believe this was 8 years ago
My coach told me that the order in which body parts reach their max speed is 1. Hips 2. Torso 3.arm 4. Hands if you watch this and really look it all starts with the waist. He did a little hop at the end, after his follow through
Yeah i kinda saw that! All that power of his body goes forward on his left leg
That is pretty!!!
Smooth
Sup
KGOHD Cant Go 12-0 sup
Can someone explain the concept of his right foot dragging in the back?
He gets his weight off his back foot. Instead of “squashing the bug”, or rotating with his weight back, he shifts onto his front side.
Not every pro drags their toe, some lift it up, some rotate onto a toe, but they all transfer weight to their front side.
what are the movements right when he hits the ball?
You'd think catchers would be like the best hitters of all time considering they spend their entire lives watching other people's swings.
0:24 hes flying
where real men cried
Baseball highlights
good use for gesture lol
No way is this 10,000 fps. More like 10.
This swing is in less than half a second.
Mikey fucking trout Jesus just beautiful
Very interesting
Who else slowed this down even more?
really nice swing, and what Joe Flowers said about Mike not using his lower body is false. When he swings you can see the hip rotation which starts his swing, and how he hits against his front leg which is stiff. His back foot drag is proof of this rotation. really nice swing.
Wow. I see a lot of movement in his upper right back pulling at his left arm and his right biceps at work
If this was 10k fps then the clip would be like 20minutes long
Poetry
Could you get one of Brandon Crawford?
Why? Lol
It’s so much like a golf swing.
He has an inside out swing much like golf.
beast!!
Last guy to hit .400 had a rotational swing, all time hits leader had a rotational swing
Amen. Rotation is the best way to hit.
Why does it bag foot come up and forward
Hi people from the cardinals baseball team
綺麗だわ~
The perfect swing....Better than Griffey and Ted Williams
Nice vid, but youtube limits your 10k fps to 60 at 1080p and 30 at 480p
0:07 highest point of his elbow, same height as his helmet
Not 10000 fps
+TheSlowOne123 it feels like 120 at most
I know this was 2 years ago, but for anyone reading, the camera is filming at 10000fps, the video is not 10000.
Peter Fusek What
If Trout wanted to play 2 sports he could be a Marshawn Lynch or Lawrence Taylor
One of the problems in my swing Is that I drop my right shoulder when i swing, leading to lots of pop ups. Mike doesn't drop his shoulder here, he rotates it
James Pope I'd assume so considering he's the best player in the MLB right now. He probably doesn't have mechanical problems with his swing.
No one bats with level shoulders. NO ONE ,that’s a falsity ,watch how his shoulders tilt , it’s impossible to swing with level shoulders , a myth
Coaches say that all the time ,it’s not true
Mike trout 5 push-ups
Anyone else here for drawing reference?
ya
Looks similar to Mike Schmidt.
What people probably wont see is that he dipped and thats not a bad thing but dropping your elbow that early will most likely result in a pop up for less exp players :D
Why do they start the video in the middle of his swing?
More like 120
More like 30fps
try looking up another 10.000 fps clip and comparing it to this. If this is 10k, it has been slowed alot after, so yes, this is shit.
youtube limits it to 30 fps if its under 720p lol
Looks like my 16 Y/O son's swing.
+Jeff Catalano LOL
Jeff Catalano Good joke... was your kid's name Bryce Harper when he was in high school?
That looks extremely fundamental to me. Like he could teach little league kids how to hit a baseball. It doesn't seem like it has a lot of swagger to it like most of the modern greats. I've always though he hit baseballs a lot further than it looked like when he connected. It just goes to show that good fundamentals and footwork really do payoff.
It reminds me of Stockton and Malone's pick and roll. They might as well have invented it.
This isn’t 10,000 FPS lol
So yeah, maybe 100 fps... maybe...
I often call my 16yo son his swing doppleganger, which is probably asking alot (but it makes him feel good). Anyways, I use this video often when we break his swing down.... 1:03 is the super slow motion part...

Good day Gents!
Pujols is a good example of rotational hitter. Little to no stride, and his hips start rotating before his shoulders.
Week

trout legit only has one testical therefor is allowed to juiceup lol
Less than 60 fps. My iPhone Has even beter fps
i hope you are kidding.
trash swing bro
