I needle felt on the couch mostly, on my lap. I have a rolling trolly with all my stuff, but I’m starting to acquire more wool than will fit on it! I’m planning to move to a 2-bedroom soon just so I can have a proper studio. Thanks for the tour - love to see other artist’s spaces!
Yes, rolling trolleys are great as everything is there, perfect way to do it, love having my comfortable chair though, makes it easier on my back, a studio is a real luxury, you will love it when you move x
I tried sitting on the floor to work couldn't hack it personally but hands up to those who can 😀. I have a desk on one side of my office was upcycled, a lovely mirror to that I distressed a bit and two very large bamboo storage boxes to store tools in etc 😀

Thanks for the tour, Phillipa. It's always interesting to see how others set their space (if they have one) up. I have a small bedroom where I sleep (because I'm a shift worker too) and I also have a craft work table in there as well as mountains of boxes. I do many different crafts including polymer clay, latch hook rug design, 3D printing, 3D pen crafting, and needle felting, so I have a lot of materials and equipment. Downstairs is my my main work station in front of my desktop computer, which over flows with my current projects from needle felting and tablet weaving.

I'm lucky to have the space but the only problem is most of my wool is put away in draws so I can't see what I have. I'm going to use some of my time off at Christmas to have a big tidy up. That gets really tricky because you know you have a certain colour but you can't find it! I spends ages moving wool about! It's great you have a room though, have a lovely Christmas 🎄 xx
Thank you for sharing your studio with us! Very interesting and gave me a few ideas! I keep much of my wool in the clear, hanging shoe racks (I have three, two with batting and one with roving/sliver). They hang on the closet doors in my bedroom. The rest of my supplies, equipment, tools are in two (one large, one small) rolling drawer carts. I also have a large cardboard box full of extra batting, in multiple colors. I don’t have a spare room, so the rolling carts make it easier to move my supplies from my bedroom right into the kitchen, where I sit at the table. I have a lamp sitting there so I have extra lighting while I work. It’s not an ideal setup, but it works fairly well, for now.😉
A moving cart is so great because I sometimes have to move around and lighting is so important, I struggle to felt in bad light, thanks so much for describing your set up xx
Hi Pippa, it was great to see all of your organizing and storage. We are redoing our basement and I have claimed a large walk in closet to store all the wool and extra everything. Your organization helped me think of some ideas to better utilize the area. I have things in 5 rooms right now, not good. This was a fantastic video thank you for making it. xoxoxox

Thank you, yes, you do have to be brave and just do it, sometimes I get stuck on a project and don't want to ruin it but once I tackled it I wonder why I procrastinated so much. Watch lots of videos for help, I don't do birds but others do xx

Love the tour! It's always interesting to see other setups. I'm a new felter but my general craft room is a bit bigger than yours...however it also doubles as a two-person gaming room so is much less efficiently laid out. That's a project for the new year 😅 As far as things I'm struggling with, I don't know if this is maybe too vague but probably just getting an idea of the "progression" route in the path. Like with knitting you generally learn to knit and purl, make something flat like a washcloth, then progress onto bigger things or in-the-round (hats etc), then more complicated stitches, cables and lace. I'm just not really sure what a sensible plan of attack is with felting so I'm trying things at random and seeing what sticks.
We discussed this recently in my Patreon. I think you have to find something you really really want to felt. What's your favourite animal, object, find something you are really keen to do. Doing the pumpkins recently also pushed me to copy what was in front of me, that was a good challenge. Doing an online course also makes you improve as you have the instructor there. Pick something and then search Pinterest for felted examples so you can see how others has created it. Hope some of the above helps. I love my sheep, cows and horses so I just focus on them alot and try to improve x

i started with a box now i have a massive room shelfing bit like yours and yes loads and loads of different wool i think it has cost me 4k so far as i also do fofurring .i have ot stop buying lol it is so addictive oh must have that must have this
I really enjoy your videos, thank you. I have learned so much from watching them. When I use wire armature I struggle with the wire poking through, even though I have twisted it into a loop. This happens mostly in the foot area, if I pile on more wool then the feet look funny. Suggestions?
Thanks for watching my videos, make sure the wire is flat, flat nose plyers help, wrap with floristry tape (see my problem solving wire armature video) then the wool wraps round it well. Wrap wool past the wire by a tiny amount then felt the loose wool backwards into it. Failing that, do foot separately with no wire and attach at base, not ideal at all but you will have control over foot size, plus keep practicing, legs can be tricky x
I love your Studio it is Wonderful. I use a table knee board on the sofa. it's not ideal.......I am getting a craft room when we move, My Brilliant man ..has offered to build me what i need. Also do paper crafts with my Cricut Explorer Air 2 machine. I have packed this away as we do not have room were we live.
I think I would love a cricut! They sound fab but I concentrate so much on my felting. Might get my daughter into stickers and paperwork. An actual room is amazing and I can shut the door and hide in there, you will love it when you get yours, thanks for watching x

I'm afraid I'm not a tax advisor but just check with HMRC if you need to register, normally it's after £1000 gross income per year but best for you to check on their website x

Hi, the insurance, why is it needed to sell on etsy? I have watched a tonne of videos and you are the first person to mention insurance with etsy. The craft fair one, is that for public liability? Xx
Product liability insurance covers you against claims where one of your products hurts a customer or damages their property and they seek compensation in return, so needle felted items could be torn apart by a pet or child and swallowed, despite my warnings when I sell it (not for pets or children). Craft fairs are public liability, yes, and most places won't take you without it x
No don't, nobody really mentions it and it's quite important just to protect yourself in a worse case scenario. If you were making children's items then you are looking at CE testing etc so it's more obvious but it's not policed at all so it's down to the individual x

I use lavender on my felts, not always, just every now and then, cedar wood is also good to deter x

can phentex wool be felted
As it's synthetic it might be harder to get it to attach, I have used some synthetic wools and it takes longer, it's better if is a wool blend.
