I work with people from Utah and their first names are all different hobbies. Two of my closest buddies are named Fisher who loves to fish and Trapper who loves hunting so go figure lmao
If I recall correctly, the last name “Smith” came from blacksmiths
A lot of last names came from professions. His family have probably been fishermen for a long time.

The reason people were so mad is that these guys were going around cleaning up all the tournaments in the area. They had won lots of money and a very expensive boat already

I fished a tournament at Lake Mead where two anglers were spotted pulling a full stringer of fish moments before the weigh in. Most people had a problem catching 1 fish that day. Here they come with 10 fish weighing over 2 lbs apiece. I know exactly how all those people felt about the cheaters.
Don’t know how they thought they’d get away with this, especially when you consider their catch were the exact same length as other teams, yet their combined weight was well over 10lbs??? It’s simply not possible, no matter how fat they are or filled with eggs. The best part is, had they not stuffed those fish with lead weight, they still would’ve made top 5!!! They got greedy and are now marked for life! 😂

For anyone wondering Jacob Runyan and Chase Cominsky were pro fisherman who won thousands of dollars in fishing tournaments. They had been expected of cheating before and already had a bad wrap in the pro fishing community. They were both sentenced to 10 days in jail and had their fishing licenses suspended. They also had to return a 100k boat they had won in a tournament the previous year

I remember some guy kept bass in a net hidden in some lake and then during the tournament he would go and retrieve them
So they have the same version of this contest for the biggest bucks you can hunt in a season. To “get around” cheating this way, they have you answer a lie detector test. Basically they ask you did you obtain this buck in a lawful/ sporting way and you lose if you don’t pass the lie detector test. Anyways, knew a guy who lawfully put on all his safety gear during the right time of year for legal hunting, climbed his tree in his backyard and shot a buck he had been raising in a pen in his backyard. Technically legal. Not really sporting but he passed the lie detector test because he believed.
