Thanks a bunch for posting! This is such an amazing song and I never saw the video til now! Whoohoo! "File Under Easy Listening" is one of the best albums! Gotta love Sugar! Rock on, Bob!!! =)
Great great great band.........Bob is a musical genius. Been a fan since Husker Du days...... This is also such a great song to play on guitar.....awesome stuff!!!!
Since the 80's, I would listen to Husker Du and I realized that I was mostly into them because of Bob. I prefered him singing than Grant. Grant was a great singer but I thought Bob's voice was better and more unique. That's what I especially loved about Sugar. He did all the singing.
I agree for the most part, but in Du I think Grant was the better song writer, at least for me. But I think objectively you could say Grant's songs were more dense lyrically and a little more emotional and nostalgic.
To me, one voice feels nostalgic and in need (Grant), and the other one feels brash, fast and more harsher (Bob). Either way, it works for me, but if I had to choose, it'd be Bob.
A truly great influence on my musical tastes and song writings. The only thing depressing me is that it's already been 20 years since Husker Du (and 10yrs since this nice little diddy). Great nostalgia, but timeless in it's quality and innovation.
Sorry you had to wait 7 years for an answer, but the clips all appear to be from a 1958 documentary called Gateways to the Mind (the animation is from Chuck Jones). ua-cam.com/video/pX4mlgwSKd4/v-deo.html
@jfo1014 I'd honestly say Bob doesnt care. theres always gonna be someone jumping on a bandwagon etc. i hope bob is happy out there and cheers bob for all the amazing life affirming tunes!!
Mould's guitar tones, vocals, and general focus all seem to just be so much better here than the stuff I hear from him currently. I have major issues with his solo live performances... Without going into details, it's just reached a point that I will go see him because he is Bob, and not because I will leave the show trembling as I used to so for Husker, and Sugar, too. Just my 2 cents ..
Dave Grohl recently said that he has been ripping off Bob for the last 15 years and had him guest on a song from the current Foos record. Dave LOVES Bob Mould so I am okay with that.
That's true, but it's probably just a matter of time before Dave collaborates with Bob on a side project. Pretty much every gas station in north America has some guy that worked with Dave on something.
I wouldn't worry about it....DG has about one great song (Everlong), some good, and a whole load of generic filler. Bob has written loads of great songs, and has a much better ear for melody and something much more memorable.
tons of bands are influenced by husker du/ sonic youth/ dinosaur/ sebadoh / pixies, i dont think anyone feels cheated though... Sugar look like soldiers don't they!
@jfo1014 I agree. Watach the new Foo Fighters documentary.....I loved Sugar when Copper Blue came out and I loved the Foo Fighters when the Colour and the Shape came out, I dont think Grohl ever tries to hide his influences.
anyone else ever think that this song id about Bob's sexuality? I.e. he buys the wings, they don't fit right, and encounters difficult trying to return them. It's all there!
@jfo1014 Well, seeing as how a lot of early Sugar ripped off the Pixies ("A Good Idea" anyone?) I'm not too sad about this ;) Still, Mould is one of the best alt-guitarists of all time and I love his work.
@jfo1014 well at least Bob got on the new Foo Fighters album but still bob was cheated he has alwase been a great artist that never got any credit for his work it's sad
@jacotango -- Could just as easily be said Cobain was lucky he was in a band with Dave Grohl. At least one could handle the fame and sorry if that sounds harsh.
Maybe he feels cheated, but that's neither ones fault. I like both Bob, his projects, and the Foo Fighters, and even though Grohl is very successful, it's not like Mould has never had the chance to succeed. One of the videos on the side is Mould on Letterman. A lot of people that get ripped off don't even get that far. Just think of all the Seattle bands that Nirvana sounded exactly like that never got exposure.
Bullshit. I've never once heard any similarities in either of their styles, and besides that, Bob and Dave are good friends. Why does everyone always want to pit musicians against each other? Lame!!
This band deserves have more likes. Thank you Bob Mould.
Sugar. Loudest concert I've ever seen! Among the best as well.
Great song from a great album. Bob Mould is a living legend still putting out relevant rocking tunes.
One of the most earworm songs of all time. That riff!
I always loved seeing them live. Malcom Travis was a monster behind the drums.
Yeah, i feel it either.
He sure was, human metronome.
Goddamn this goes so hard
bob mould is definitely among the 10 greatest innovative guitarists . ever.
I always get a little chuckle when i see the song ends with the G chord.
Hahaha that's fantastic
That Mould geeza blew my ears out at Northampton in 93. Cool 'and' loud, what a combination!
Loved this song the first time I heard it. Still do. Some songs just stand the test of time. Gee Angel I guess you do.
Thanks a bunch for posting! This is such an amazing song and I never saw the video til now! Whoohoo! "File Under Easy Listening" is one of the best albums! Gotta love Sugar! Rock on, Bob!!! =)
I saw Bob Mould live in Philly a week ago
Whoever he’s singing to, I think we’ve all been there.
I bought this CD when it came out and I still have it (Among others). Definitely in the top...
Great great great band.........Bob is a musical genius. Been a fan since Husker Du days......

Plus the songs are better, the drummer is better, the bass player is better, and the production is better (in Sugar that is)
Grant sounds like Paul Stanley
@@bengrimshaw4811 Both bands were great. I love Sugar but, in Hüsker Dü you had Bob and Grant. Two awesome writers and performers in one band.
To me, one voice feels nostalgic and in need (Grant), and the other one feels brash, fast and more harsher (Bob).
Either way, it works for me, but if I had to choose, it'd be Bob.
Oddly enough this is the first time listening to sugar
I've always thought of this song as being Bob's little tribute to the Ramones...
Great to see Bob smiling when he sings the words "I knew I couldn't fly but Ididn't care."
This is Rock' 'N'' Roll.
OK, FOLKS ?
I got to see Mould in Rock Island years and years ago ...noone wanted to go with me. They missed out so badly.
The best 90s song!
The single for Gee Angel came out in early 1995, the video came around the same time.
Oh My God!!!!!!!! Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sugar....90's music...was fabulous and it's all gone now. (sad face)
Met Bob in Indy 2 years ago..what a good guy.
Most of the stuff he did was good, but Sugar were the best thing Bob Mould was involved in. Love 'em! :D
A truly great influence on my musical tastes and song writings. The only thing depressing me is that it's already been 20 years since Husker Du (and 10yrs since this nice little diddy). Great nostalgia, but timeless in it's quality and innovation.
'Copper Blue' is an unimpeachable record. This is good enough to have been on it
Copper Blue is one of those records that I never skip tracks on.
@@patrickfosterstudiosame.... I don't skip on "File Under Easy Listening" either.
Bob's a fucking genius!
Sugar is a big band rock forget!!!
gee angel is a classic!!!
Highly underrated song
thanks for posting this. it's been one of my fav songs for so long.

jfo1014
i often wondered the same esp when dave shamelessly talks about bob.
Saw him perform solo acoustic at the Barrymore in Madison, WI around the same time...same thing, just killer. Bob always brings it.
Loved the video
Far from their best, yet better than almost everything out now.
Another excellent tune by Bob Mould.
My neighbor could be Bob Mould's stunt double!
=D
Brilliant. Mould is a titan.
i don’t know if i would be a musician if it wasn’t for Husker Dü
This has to be the best youtube comment I've ever read
I love when you can tell a video is from the 90s...XD
Mould knows how to make music!
I hear a lot of Sugar and Bob riffs in a lot of tunes, but cheated? Ask Bob - he's a god to Husker devotees & is always growing. RESPECT FOR THE MAN.
Excellent video
Bob is one of the most ferocious git players out of the era...& as a trio Sugar could rank up there as one of the best ever but only 1 album
The one that the Mississippi overflows into?
=O =D
Anyone know of any videos for Hoover Dam? It's my favorite song from Copper Blue
I thought Sugar put out some songs that were just as catchy as Nirvana or Pearl Jam
Its a shame Bob didn't have more success with it
Sugar were massive in the UK. Sold tons over here
There would have been no Nirvana if they hadn't heard and loved Husker Du. Grohl will tell you that.
Does anyone know what cartoon that is in the background??
Sorry you had to wait 7 years for an answer, but the clips all appear to be from a 1958 documentary called Gateways to the Mind (the animation is from Chuck Jones).

I'd call Malcolm Travis's drumming methodical. So in place here.
Perfect song!
Bob already has. He's on the new Foo Fighters album. On the song "Dear Rosemary".
@jacotango Isn't 40 = XL? Anyways, amazing song and amazing video.
Mound のギター・サウンドは素晴らしい。
誰にも真似出来ないと思います。✌️
Essential track for 'wings'on the Taupo/Naiper. Maybe not his deepest track but it still resonates
@jfo1014 I'd honestly say Bob doesnt care. theres always gonna be someone jumping on a bandwagon etc. i hope bob is happy out there and cheers bob for all the amazing life affirming tunes!!

Is there any chance someone can put up "gift" by Sugar???....great song..thanks in advance...
trop fort "Sugar" et Bob Mould !
Love Sugar. Love Bob Mould.
awsome song
No question about it!

Hey man , can you post Panama City Hotel vid if you have it ... Thanks

@MyYTFaves I was wondering what those clips were taken from...Thanks!
Sounds “Flip Your Wig” era Huskers...maybe “Candy Apple Grey” era....
lol. Yes, that's right. All the way down to that sweaty Gulf ;_;
is there any videos from copper blue ????
That shouldn't even be a matter of contention. Of course he is.
anyone else ever think that this song id about Bob's sexuality? I.e. he buys the wings, they don't fit right, and encounters difficult trying to return them. It's all there!

Dave Grohl finally admitted it too.
matt skiba sent me here
bob was born in Malone NY! oh Malone, at least something great came out of you....
that drummer
Go Bob!
I tend to agree. He's comming to play here in SLC next month and I'll see him no matter what but I feel like the solo lacks this enthusiasm.
@ jacotango Sugar better than the Du? Yep, u got my vote, pal.
@jfo1014 I don't believe he feels like that at all.
Noise putas awesome

I want science to come up with a way for me to have Bob's children.
this recording is out of phase
Bullshit. I've never once heard any similarities in either of their styles, and besides that, Bob and Dave are good friends. Why does everyone always want to pit musicians against each other? Lame!!
We need th G chord back..
