Messolonghi Greece is a small town located in western Greece. What’s more, thanks to its position, Messolonghi is the perfect base for a road trip around the nearby towns of Nafpaktos, Patras, Thermo, and Astakos!
Built around a beautiful sea lake, Messolonghi boasts a wonderful natural landscape and oozes a discreet retro charm. But Messolonghi is not only a place of incredible natural beauty but also of great historical significance. This little town is famous for the Exodus of Messolonghi, the attempt of the besieged inhabitants, to escape from the Ottomans in April 1826. During the escape, many people lost their lives. The Garden of Heroes, a beautiful garden in the center of Messolonghi, was constructed in their honor.
The Garden of Heroes is one of the best places to visit in Messolonghi. Not only because of its historical significance but also because it is a nice place for strolls! Apart from the Garden of Heroes, there are many other places to visit in Messolonghi, such as the Monastery of Agios Symeon, Tourlida islet, and the Kostis Palamas Museum.
But, sightseeing is not the only thing to do in Messolonghi! Visit the beautiful nearby beaches, go hiking, do watersports… The choices are unlimited!
