Hey! New viewer here. Started following your channel a few weeks ago and your podcasts have been a wonderful way to pass time while I've been recovering from an injury. Thank you so much for all the insightful observations, all the hot takes and hours upon hours of free entertainment! Merry Christmas!
Hi, sorry for the inconvenience, but I need your help. I’ve got USDT TRX20 stored in my OKX wallet with the recovery phrase (clean party soccer advance audit clean evil finish tonight involve whip action). How do I send it to OKX or OKX?
Hey, I feel bad for asking, but might you help me out? My OKX wallet holds both USDT TRX20 and the recovery phrase [ clean party soccer advance audit clean evil finish tonight involve whip action ] How do I send it to OKX or OKX?
Tomer’s “two for one” approach is absolutely key to seeing the value in these Swat effects. In commander it’s so pivotal to get the most out of your card slots and having a protection plus a removal spell (albeit conditional) is graaaavy.
Untimely malfunction is soooooo good... nothing better than redirecting a path from your threats to something important on its casters board... get the jars ready for the salt that follows
I know it's a reserve list card but Richard forgot Lotus Vale as part of the catch up ramp package which actually proves his point more making it even more consistent. In Mono White I've actually gone super all in on the catch-up ramp package also running Ghost Quarter, Wasteland, Strip Mine, Urza's Saga, Scavenger Grounds, Buried Ruin, and Command Beacon. You can probably cut some of those if you want more coloured sources but it becomes really consistent with that many ways to go down a land.
Arid archway is good because you can spend the mana before you tap it. I play it in my standard mono black discard where I have alot of 1 drops but lacking in the 2 to 3 drop spells and want to ramp into my 4 and 5 drop spells better and I definitely count it as a land draw by putting a land back in my hand
@@japplek the best win rate in an insanely specific meta that has nothing to do with high powered play because they have to play and build for content, not power.
You better at least spend 5 minutes talking about how insane the manabase has become this year. MDFC's, Surveils, Non-basic support, a bunch of dope utility lands. Never, not ever, has a new year of cards changed the commander manabase so much.
My favorite thing about 2024 is that Ach, Hans! Run!, Tomer's Luxurious Hair, The Official Fish of Eastern Massachusetts, and West Coast Batdz-Maru continue to regale us with such wondrous wit and witticisms. Great year, lads!
I do agree with him that the card is very good, but it definitely is not an auto-include in every deck like he plays it. In particular, I like them in decks where you can play lands from graveyards. Being able to use channel lands or cycle lands, play them from the yard and then bounce them back to hand is incredibly powerful and grindy. He just windmill slams these into everything though, which I do agree with Tomer is just a tempo loss.
@@alexkulis7295I also think he's right when it comes to slamming it into Mono White with the catch-up ramp package and possibly two colour decks with White in them but I'm a bit more iffy on that. In Mono White you not only have the space for running Lotus Vale, Lotus Field, Guildess Commons, and Arid Archway you can also run colourless lands that put you down a land whenever you want or naturally put you down a land like Strip Mine, Wasteland, Ghost Quarter, Urza's Saga, Command Beacon, Buried Ruins and Scavenger Grounds while still having enough basic plains to be fine.
People always talk about red redirect effects as only usefull vs targeted removal but they are actually much more flexible than that, you just kinda have to be tricky. For instance i once changed the target of an opponents reanimate spell to a some random shit that wasn't relevant. Also lets you engage in counterspell wars. Lots of things have targets.
I completely would’ve missed it if it hadn’t been the top seller on cardmarket for a few weeks straight lmao, I’d rather have it over Abrade 9/10 times
@Azeria yeah protecting your commander with a redirect is probably more important that killing a creature toughness 3 or less. I think I'll find room for both though
Dont forget with the new redirects they also can target/copy abilities not just spells which can really mess people up. Just last week i redirected aether flux and returned the favor a extra turn spell giving me two while they got non!
Ocelot Pride is like a 1 mana Doubling Season for creatures on a stick. Once you have the City's Blessing it doesn't just double it's own tokens, it doubles ALL of the tokens you produce on a turn. If it doesn't work out your investment was only 1 mana. That's why this card is going for so much.
Not that it needed more reasons to be good, but Warren Soultrader is also a great goblin tribal card with all the tokens and a second Skirk Prospector.
Also just to pitch my own goblin deck, goblin fans should try Gut True Soul Zealot and Haunted One. Since rakdos Goblins can do impact tremors in multiple ways and aristocrat strategies, so you can do a lot with it.
Ive been playing bounce lands alot more than i had in recent years. Mostly in mono and 2 colored decks to return MDFCs i cant quit get there in most 3 color decks.
So happy for my favorite commander Kambal, Proditeering Mayor to finally get the recognition it deserves! It got no hype during spoiler season but Kambal is a low key powerhouse that makes a lot of "bad" cards absolutely cracked (e.g., Tombstone Stairwell)
Return the favor and untimely malfunction are both in my mono-red "counterspell" package, people rarely expect the interaction out of red so it's a lot easier to catch people lacking
My three favorite cards this year have been Arch druids charm( every green deck). I love Trouble in pairs and put into anything with White . And the land that I've put in every single one of my decks this year has been Fountain Port. It's never let me down.
I’m running Three Tree City in my Baylen and Hare Apparent deck and regularly hit 20+ mana on it. The deck is definitely in that niche that Tree City needs though.
Why does Richard never run scorched ruins or lotus vale? Feels exactly the same as lotus field but just significantly stronger with his copy land package and his untap land package.
Scrawling Crawler and Psychosis Crawler killed the entire table in my Jin-Gitaxias Progress Tyrant. Having two of both just wiped life totals in no time flat. It worked incredibly well.
Over and above the desert bounce land (it's cool and I do want a bounce land or two in most decks), I've been running a lot more of the Conduit Pylon type lands this year. ETB untapped surveil or Scry 1, tap for colorless or filter for a color. Running 2-3 of those in a mana base to smooth out draws and deck flow.
Untimely Malfunction is my COTY, every mode is great at 2 mana and I think it goes in every single red deck ever. 2 mana is also the cheapest cost for a redirect too (not counting casting Deflecting Swat for free), so the extra modes are just gravy
People sleep on sword of wealth and power way too much, it gives 'fair' hexproof, it ramps(!), but best of all, it is a duplication for spells in generic(!!): double in reanimator, double tutors and all the lovely discard spells, double tooth and nail in green, double buff spells in mono-white, etc. It has so much potential considering it is a triggered ability, so for example, strionic can copy it, and with a way to untap strionic... Happy Holidays!
I have so far had great to insane success with Three Tree City in following commander decks: - Ovika, Enigma Goliath - just goated Battle Hymn on a stick on a demand that just sticks on board after any wipe, S+++ Class. - Niko, Light of Hope - waaaay clunkier but if I am able to hold off playing it and naming any creature type that's Angels, which are the main wincons, it's amazing. I also have flicker spells so I can reset it if I want so it gets nuttier then but that wasn't needed much. - Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds - This is a Hare Apparent deck, which plays a little too close to Ovika, Enigma Goliath so the Three Tree City is as insane here as it is there, but I am planning to either make this one have a combat based wincon or just be a Ghired.dec not a GhiredAndBunnies.dec and move the bunnies elsewhere. Three Tree City is just utter insanity in a decks it was made for.
40:13 tell me this: is there really a big difference between discard to hand size and surveil 1? In some of my decks, I love a turn 2 discard to hand size.
26:28 It's not really the cheapest haste enabler land. Hall of the Bandit Lord cost no additional mana not even next turn. It only cost life every time 😅

Hi, a question, I'm torn between jump scare and mothman. I know they have different playsstyles, but which one would you recommend taking considering the starting deck and the competitiveness while investing relatively little? Thank you
You missed karoo. Karoo is a mono W and boros staple to get critical mass of bounce lands to keep up with the table cause white needs to cut every corner to keep up cause white is the worst ramp color. Its only catchup.
Bouncing a mdfc is card draw, I can see most deck playing 3/4 and next year we'll probably get more good ones. I don't like any sort of tap land but this value can't be overlooked
I've had Shifting Woodland in my mono green deck for a while, I never have had the opportunity to use it so it's kinda meh... it's the steep activation price... the best ones for me are the one mana cost ones, the red one, the black one Spymaster's Vault (bonkers sometimes), and even Archway of Innovation.

IMO, before watching the video:

I actually appreciate this so much, I’ve been out of the EDH scene for about two years and stuff like this is super helpful for keeping up.
Normally Richard has some unhinged take, but today I agree with him. As a bouncy boi, I love Arid Archway.
I think the fact they got so many more good MDFC's really upped the power of these bounce lands.
Richard gets so much shit from people who somehow keep ignoring the fact that he has the best win rate.

Don’t always agree with your opinions but I’m grateful for your content thank you!
