  • Volleyball, football and many other sports in Nebraska are growing in popularity. For the athletes competing on the field, their training process has increasingly become more complex. Data is a large piece of that puzzle.
    Advanced sensors and software can collect 1,000 data points per second of an athlete’s movement. These tests have proliferated in pro and collegiate sports, allowing athletes to fine tune their performances. As this tracking ability has trickled down to youth, how can athletes, coaches and parents use the data effectively to enhance athleticism, while keeping stress at a minimum?

    Correction: This story incorrectly characterizes Dr. Brackette as a U.S. Olympic Team counselor. In fact, she’s on the registry of counselors for Team U.S.A. but not on the full-time staff.
