Another great video! Glad I'm not the only one who has a reader copy of a book I also have slabbed. If it's a great book, I love reading it and also appreciating the really nice copies being slabbed. I'm also a weirdo and if I find the same book I already have as a reader and slabbed, if it's a in great condition for a great price, I pick it up to have a nice non slabbed copy. But man, it must have been such a great feeling not having to pay for shipping for the books! Shipping is the killer/buzz kill in collecting these days because it is harder and harder to find stuff I'm interested in locally.
I would DEFINITELY pick up a third copy of a book that was between slabbed and reader...but I'm trying to NOT do that 😅 Being able to drive 15 minutes to grab the books was so convenient. I just wish I took advantage of looking at them first. I'm not sure it would have changed my mind on much, but I might have bid on some items harder if I could have seen they might be better than expected. The Peter Parker was WAY worse than the photos, but the ASM 100 was WAY better.
I haven't thought about pricing guides in years: that brings back memories of poring through the price guides in the back of Wizard magazine to see the changes, what was hot, what was on the way down, etc
Thanks man! Next time I'll not be lazy and get down there to review them. Thankfully it was just that PPSS that was a dud...but it could have been much worse!
That's a nice high grade copy of ASM #100! Fingers crossed with CGC it's so hard to predict what those older bronze age books will grade out as, the variance between graders can be insane. I always thought it has a magnificent iconic cover but is underappreciated compared to #50/129
I figure that even if that ASK 100 comes in lower than I think it should I still won't be underwater, and it will make great content when I'm disappointed in the grade on camera 😆 If it doesn't get at least a 7.0 or better I'm flipping the monopoly board over and slamming my bedroom door. I think the cover is pretty good, but I can see it not being ICONIC like #50, like you mentioned. I'm absolutely happy to have it either way!!
Love that Dick Tracy Book! Nice snag! I would be afraid to send it to CGC. I also dig those pulps as well! I have two ASM 100 that I picked up at a comic con back in 1976. I sent them to CGC and one came back a 9.0 and the other a 9.2 so I was elated! I also have two ASM 101 that I would like to get graded someday.
WHOA, WHAT?? You have two of them, and they are over 9.0's?? That's CRAZY awesome! Especially with you having them that long. I have NO explanation why I didn't buy the book back in the '80s. Somehow it just escaped me! I'm a bit afraid about getting it graded too. I'm afraid to even open it now. But I want it preserved, even if that means it's a 2.0. But I'm with you, man!
I actually live on the East Coast up here in New England! I know they are still out there, but so many have moved to cleanout companies coming in and just doing it online! On the one hand, it's easier to find more estate sales if they are online....the bad news is that it's harder to get deals because things are auctioned. Thank you for subscribing, btw! More great finds!
Shirts nice! But that ASM #100 is gorgeous! Another great video!!!
Thank you! The shirt came out nice, and fits great!
I can't wait to get that ASM graded and find out what it comes in at!

That was the best! I miss that! But I also don't miss that someone was dictating the market prices for things, and no idea how they decided that.
@@SwarmofComics yeah, it's like Zillow and home prices, they're not just reporting the state of things, they're actively influencing it.
Some pretty cool books. Since the place is so close to you, probably makes sense the preview the books if your schedule allows.

Great books, I especially love that Dick Tracy!
Thanks, chief! I want to open it and look through it, but I'm terrified of it falling apart! 😆
Great content as always keep up the great work
Those words of encouragement mean more than you can know! Thank you!

We still have estate sales on the east coast. You must live in California. Life returned back to normal here.
