Kim Yeongchul actually speaks really impressive English. It shows dedication as he didn't learn outside of Korea.

kim young chul english is quite good. i thought his understanding of the language is shallow. but not at all. he has wide vocab range, albeit simple. he surely can answer/interact in english at any given situation. this shows his dedication in learning english. he desrved more credit, as being downplay alot in knowing bros
What I find great about Youngchul is that he does all his studies in Korea and never giving up. While he is known for his english, and definitely should, Young chul also learned a multitude of other languages all in Korea to achieve his dream of becoming an international comedian.

Her English is not bad and her comprehension is good. I think she's just partially concerned she won't speak it well. I can't imagine traveling to a foreign country by yourself where you don't know the language.

Yeah i was actually so worried when i went to Japan but in the end i was really surprised and thankful how many people helped me and i was able to get by with a tiny bit of japanese i knew mixed with tiny bit of english they knew and a little improvised sign language lol

Overall she did fine, but depending on where she goes in the US and orders this long, people will have a different reaction.

Plus, like they said, people will have different reactions.
The US is a multi-cultural society and is renowned internationally, meaning a large influx of tourists, which also means that surprise, not everyone in the country is guaranteed to have good English comprehension. Those who realise that fact will probably understand and, whilst annoyance is natural, they’ll be -relatively- patient nonetheless. Of course, that doesn’t completely remove the possibility of a situation like the one in the skit actually happening because we’re not perfect either 🤔

pro-tip: don't use 'what' when you dont understand someone. instead use, 'sorry?' or 'excuse me?'. I've seen korean celebs who use 'what?' and it gives me the rude vibe. Although i completely understand that they dont speak the language but how they deliver it is also important. Koreans in my country are very polite so i was quite shocked when i heard other celebs use 'what' and 'got it?' (알겠어요?) in a commanding tone when talking to some foreigners.

LOL i think it depends on the type of restaurant... and it'd probably help the waiter a lot if you tell them right from the beginning what you like/don't like instead of constantly rejecting every suggestion with a new request if you know you're a picky eater.
while your point is also correct, i also dont think that a customer should be rude and think of themselves so highly. I have worked at mcdonalds and there are so many unnecessary rude behaviors and comments that the curstomers do/say. There's this type of customer who humiliates the staff when in fact the staff did nothing wrong. The staff of course, couldn't say anything to defend themselves because that certain customer was rich and all that and could easily destroy you. sad world.
im not from the us so occasionally there are rich people who eat at mcdonalds... also fast food chain is not the bottom of the world in our country so...
Whether it be on a fast food or fine dinning, there are still rude customers who are bitching out unnecessarily.
yong palli Exactly when you have to deal with difficult and indecisive customers its hard to keep your cool add a language barrier and things just got harder. They have other people to wait on and some people just irritate them or are rude to them which should not be done.

Apparently he doesn't like it when people call him out in public here in the US cause it's the only time he has at being a regular person. He said so himself at the interview. I've traveled to Japan with my Japanese passport, in the same boat as Sejong in that I can listen well but my speaking is very shaky, so I sympathize with her for being a little fearful of traveling to a country where you don't really know how to communicate with others. And for immigration officers, I've met the ones in LAX and they weren't the most friendly, probably because of their job and the constant grind of it. At that point, you just keep it to the point. They will assume that most people who are going to them can't speak English all too well so they will be a little patient with you but you also can't hesitate for too long. Yes, quite a few of them are quite intimidating and rude but you just have to buckle down and deal with it. I didn't appreciate it myself just because they were one of the first faces that I saw when I came back to the U.S. and it didn't paint the best picture of home for me.
