I’m glad the chat bonded together to correct him on the “Dendro power level = Level of Knowledge = In-game Rarity” thing, because the “Kaveh is actually dumb” jokes are annoyingly inaccurate, and character rarities often have nothing to do with lore, otherwise Ningguang wouldn’t be a 4 star, for example. Heck, even playable unit power levels have little to do with lore, because why is Nilou so strong for Dendro teams when that’s not even acknowledged in the story in any way? And then Dehya is complete ass despite being described as a beast in lore.
Sumeru assigned rarities to characters based on what role they played in the Archon Quest. Every character that played a major or even semi-major role was assigned 5 star status (Alhaitham, Dehya, Cyno, Tighnari, although this was more likely because he helped introduce us to the nation), while every minor character, or character who didn’t appear in the Archon quest at all were all 4 stars (Kaveh, Layla, Faruzan, Collei, Candace, Dori). Nahida and Wanderer being 5 stars is a given. Kaveh only made a brief cameo in the end because he was doing some tom foolery offscreen while the story was happening, hence- 4 star status.
I’m not sure if this was the case in previous nations because I didn’t pay attention the release schedules back then, but they made it pretty clear early on who they intended to be 5 stars vs 4 stars from the introductory trailers alone.
TLDR; Kaveh is a renowned genius and his in-game rarity has nothing to do with how smart he’s intended to be.
And I know this isn’t that deep but when the same inaccurate joke keeps cropping up, it’s annoying to see, and I dislike seeing an official VA entertain it since people often take the word of voice actors as gospel.
