Aloha Kenney, I also like the flat style roof tiles, thinking of using it on my building in Cha-uat, Nakon Si Thammarat. My builder doesn't recommend them because they supposedly leak when raining. The builder struggles to find the leak on a home he recently built, and here in south Thailand we've had plenty rain since November. Also the pitch of the roof has to be steeper than the pitch for the typical curved thai concrete roof tile to prevent leaking of the flat tiles, so buyer beware....
Hey Todd, You are correct! I actually interviewed a contractor today, at a farang house build, and he said the same thing. He does not recommend them. That video will be out in about a week.
G'day Kenny and Sompit. Thanks for the discussion on the type of roof tile vs. birds, food for thought. Our builder has suggested three options for roof tile - corrugated cement tile, and two types of flat tile as you show in this video. Not sure on the flat tile differences but one flat tile is same price as the corrugated tile and the other is more expensive. Following this video we will talk to the builder again about roofing choice, he is happy which ever way we go.
I appreciate your input on the roofs. Like a moth to a flame. Evidently I will have to deal with it at some time. A wise man learns by his mistakes, An intelligent man asks a wise man and avoids them, LOL
I did a reroof, on our house and used metal roof, with the foam and sisalation, but at the outside ends, the installation stops, 100mm back and a profile fitting plastic bird gaurd, all fitted correctly
Hey Kenny been watching your videos for a while now through out your build.. mainly because we have been building in a village near you.. you have the same roof tiles as us so I reckon I will have a similar fight with the birds..
Hey Nigel, Don't panic yet! I was on a house build this past week speaking to the builder, from UK, and he is recommending the ones we have, not the flats. You will hear his comments in the "Angry Aussie" video next week. On that same build I was shown a proper "bird guard" for the facia. I will likely be upgrading mine.
Hi Kenny, good video. I had a flashing made the covers the exposed end of the foam prior to the gutters going on. No bird issues. Also, for about a month I took a small amount of dog biscuits in a bag with me on the bike. I would randomly stop and give them a few. Now they leave me alone even though I don't give them anything anymore. 👍
was going to suggest something similar. For a shed we have here we 3d printed custom flashing for our corrugations and end caps, then just cemented all the hips and ridges. Of course for a house it would be a larger job.
Hi Kenny Been having conversations with our builder only yesterday regarding roof etc he going to give us some different options but one is using a felt shingle on I guess ply lined roof we use that for shed roofs in Uk but I think its a common roofing in the US ?I will need some convincing its get very hot so watch this space Love the ride out cheers Gary and Mon 50/50
Yes that's to prevent water ingress into the into the roof, hear they also cement (more moden flexable cement morter products ), the ride capings to prevent vermin access. A pet falcon or other bird of pray make another option.
Just put one of those lil Thai bird houses on each corner of the house...they'll stay in there instead of your house...you can also make it so they check in but cant check out...lol
Yes it was good. Thanks for dropping by, enjoyed the day.
I'll be in touch for a follow-up!
Hey was great to have met you today.
Hey Tim,
Yes, really enjoyed our visit. Thanks for showing us around your place. We will definitely be in touch next time we pass through.
thanks for creating and sharing
As always, thanks for watching.

Hey Paul, Good day today!

Hey FOB,
We have already decided to switch if we ever get to the point it needs replacing.
A stray cat would have a feast with those waterfall fish I think.
I was thinking birds, but I think you are correct as well.

Hey, Thanks Johnny,
It's good to know there are other options available. Good information to share with the other viewers. Thanks

I might see if I can get someone to custom make those flashing, good idea.
@@ParadiseNThailand that’s another cool thing about Thailand…you can pretty much customize just about anything you need…

Hey Glen,
Good idea, I will see if I can find someone that can make/install them. Thanks

Sounds just like the system used in US for plywood roofs covered with asphalt shingles. Not real comfortable with those in this heat as you said.
I was thinking, man you need to get moving right before the mg fire went off
Young Yaba group right there so not sure why that pack hangs out there, but only place I consistently see aggressive dogs.
Too late, roof already like yours 555. Machine gun effect with the dogs made me jump lol😂
All good, Live and learn I guess!
Thanks for the video.
Are your ridge caps pointed with a flexable pointing compound or just loose?
They applied a rubber sheet across the ridges before they put the tiles down.

Oooh, Good idea! Like the Hotel California!
Isn’t plant yellow lack of nitrogen (nutrients)
Like I said, I am sure it could be more than just water that effects the color. Hopefully someone that knows will read this and share some insight.
I am stuck with same voltage spikes, not fun.
Beginning to sound like it is a pretty common thing in Thailand.
hi guys
Hello Terrence😊
