I watched the Artem fight twice to make sure I wasnt just jumping on the Shakur hate train. Hes actually boring. 1.) He rarely punched in between Artem. Just shelled up while he was throwing punches then initiated his own offense once Artem was done. 2.) He only throws 2 punch combinations max 3.) He doesnt try to get the TKO when he has him hurt.
One of the things I’ve always liked about Ward is when he talks about boxing he’s no nonsense. It’s always his honest perspective with no fluff, no bias, and no favoritism. Just facts from his viewpoint.

Excellent interview. Shakur is engaging and a very intelligent young man who has the character and talent to be the face of the sport. I pray he gets there. His next move is important and I hope it is to Matchroom Boxing with Eddie Hearn. This young MAN has it all.
Shakur was my favorite fighter. I'm from Newark. But I have to admit, i was disappointed after the DeLa santos fight. I really hate that he never rematched and never mentions the guy. Worse, the guy is legit and now no 1 is talking about fighting the guy because of how good he looked against Shakur.

Shakur. Just from what I see. He is very talented and skilled. The look in his face though when he's fighting; looking scared in the eyes, making that face. It looks like he is afraid to get hit. He very rarely slips a punch and tags you anymore. He totally avoids the mix up. He evades to the point where it's like resetting. Super intelligent feet, but not letting his hands fly. All that can be improved upon. He's got to get off that bike, sit down on his punches and go. That's what I keep tuning in to see. The old Bob Arum didn't hepl much either with opposition selection to showcase his skills. He'll get it together soon though. Shakur has the tools to be great.

The examples he uses are imprecise in my opinion. Loma made a "legend of the sport" (Rigo) quit on his stool after half a fight. Loma drops fighters and fought an 11 year younger, and bigger superchampion in Haney and still brought the heat. Usyk might have some boring fights, but then again he has tons of exciting ones as well in his resume. I hope this guys' race-focus doesn't stop him from becoming a great.
Man i like Shakur but he need to stop with the cap. De Los Santos was engaging with him so he can't blame him for his performance. He was just scared, and once he felt his power, and realized he was just at good at countering and just as fast as him, all he could do is run and fight him the way he fought. Shakur talks tough and was backing it up vs the vet, valdez, and the Japanese. I'd started warming up to him, but his in and out of the ring attitudes have not been matching of late. I wouldn't mind if he didn't act gangsta. Anyway, he's very difficult to beat. I think only Tank could beat him and it still won't be as easy as tank fans think. I hope shakugets the big fights because I won't watch any of his snoozefests versus the rest.

I watched the Artem fight twice to make sure I wasnt just jumping on the Shakur hate train. Hes actually boring.
1.) He rarely punched in between Artem. Just shelled up while he was throwing punches then initiated his own offense once Artem was done.
2.) He only throws 2 punch combinations max
3.) He doesnt try to get the TKO when he has him hurt.

Worse, the guy is legit and now no 1 is talking about fighting the guy because of how good he looked against Shakur.

Idk why people always got to bring race into boxing. Shakur saying fans only clown black fighters when they lose is not true. Ryan got clowned when he lost to Tank and had memes made about him too but he was able to bounce back and get more wins which is why people started respecting him again. Shakur. Just from what I see. He is very talented and skilled. The look in his face though when he's fighting; looking scared in the eyes, making that face. It looks like he is afraid to get hit. He very rarely slips a punch and tags you anymore. He totally avoids the mix up. He evades to the point where it's like resetting. Super intelligent feet, but not letting his hands fly. All that can be improved upon. He's got to get off that bike, sit down on his punches and go. That's what I keep tuning in to see. The old Bob Arum didn't hepl much either with opposition selection to showcase his skills. He'll get it together soon though. Shakur has the tools to be great.

The examples he uses are imprecise in my opinion. Loma made a "legend of the sport" (Rigo) quit on his stool after half a fight. Loma drops fighters and fought an 11 year younger, and bigger superchampion in Haney and still brought the heat. Usyk might have some boring fights, but then again he has tons of exciting ones as well in his resume. I hope this guys' race-focus doesn't stop him from becoming a great.

He was just scared, and once he felt his power, and realized he was just at good at countering and just as fast as him, all he could do is run and fight him the way he fought. Loma is tiny for 135, is routinely facing opponents who are way bigger, heavier and longer than him and has fought many legit punchers and KO artists not only his size or bigger but way bigger too. No catchweights, no rehydration clause, no PEDs like so many other multiple weight champions
And he's fought 13 world champions in just 21 fights, all either in their primes or close to it, 9 of them much or way bigger than him, 10 of them bigger, 2 the same size and only one smaller than him

In all honesty, truthfully, i feel like Boxing fans have/had very high expectations for Shakur but based on what theyve seen thus far, i think people are starting to doubt those expectations, the style and performances Shakur has shown, has produced wins but it hasnt produced fans, especially not casual fans, seems like he's losing fans or not necessarily "losing" fans but garnering more expectations from his fans, people think he'll probably end up like "Bud" if he keeps winning... great fighter, highly decorated but doesnt really produce sells, Shakur may be on that trajectory but he speaks like he should be in the convo with the elite boxers that sell ppv consistently, make the most money cause they get the biggest fights, the "show" makes the money 💰

Shakur has to understand that when he has belt nobody’s gonna fight him for it because of how he performed against Dela santos. He beat Valdez but got hit with the straight right hand clean in every round. Nobody believes that he can dog someone. Shakur talks tough and was backing it up vs the vet, valdez, and the Japanese. I'd started warming up to him, but his in and out of the ring attitudes have not been matching of late. I wouldn't mind if he didn't act gangsta. Anyway, he's very difficult to beat. I think only Tank could beat him and it still won't be as easy as tank fans think. I hope shakugets the big fights because I won't watch any of his snoozefests versus the rest.
