    The silk pillow case has helped my hair not be so dried out in the back near my neck. I used to have a dry section of hair because the cotton pillow case would dry it out and after 1 year of using the silk pillow case I am noticing my new hair growth isn’t nearly as dry as before. I bought mine on Amazon for $16. I wash it by hand every week and line dry (drys within 6-8 hours) and it’s still in great condition.

    I have recently trained myself to sleep on my back as well. I was a side sleeper and I also am a teeth grinder! I bought a foam wedge pillow. So I am now sleeping with my head elevated and it keeps me on my back. Having a pillow under my knees also helps immensely! Hope you're having a great weekend, Dr. Dray. Love your videos! 😊👍🏼😊👍🏼

    The pillows under my knees helped me a lot when I had to sleep on my back 6 weeks after surgery. Otherwise, I’d slide down my pillow and want to turn over. It also helped relieve some of the pressure around my lower back and tailbone, which made things more comfortable.

    Another way to train yourself to sleep on your back is to roll up a towel and place it under your neck and draped over your shoulders. A pillow under the knees helps too. I hurt my neck last year at work and that's how the doctor told me to do it because I too always slept on my side or stomach. I never even knew it helped with teeth grinding. That's good to know because I'm a big nighttime tooth grinder. Another great video! Thanks Dr. D!

    Loved this video! Thanks for the help with sleeping on my back. I will try it. I try and try things and always end up on my back with the pillows and wedges, that were under my legs, on the floor. The years of smoking, unfortunately, did more damage than sleeping on my back did to to my face. Hugs, Susan

    I've always slept on my back, because it made me feel safer when I was a kid and afraid of the dark. That way I could see the monster coming lol. I also have sinus problems, and get headaches sleeping on my back or side. However, I still grind my teeth. After getting four crowns over the years, I bought an OTC mouth guard. I haven't had any tooth issues since then, about a couple of years. Your skin looks nice in both videos, but it seems to have more of a glow in this video.

    I have insomnia, GAD and a chronic pain condition so I don't get a lot of sleep, I'm lucky if I can get 5-6 hours a night and I normally need about 14-16mgs of Clonazepam to get that.
    My pill tolerance is bordering on ridiculous. I remember a few years ago I took 25x5mg valiums and drank nearly a full bottle of bourbon with a tonne of codeine in my system. My doctor was like, you know you should be dead right? And I barely woke up with a hangover, I just took some aspirin, drank some Gatorade and I was fine in a few hours.
    Not sure why I'm sharing this but I am...I really need to get my benzo/opiate habit sorted out but I literally can't function without them. Having insomnia and an anxiety disorders is bad enough but when you throw a chronic pain problem into the mix it really messes with you. Physically, mentally and spiritually I'm like a zombie most days. Sooo yeah, I doubt a silk pillow case is gonna do shit for me tbh.

    Hi dr. Dray! I just recently bought differin gel and I also bought an aloe plant because I read the amazing things that it could do for acne and I was wondering if it's okay to put aloe on after the differin or should I put the. on on different days?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +13

      not at the same time...aloe vera has salicylic acid in it, which is probably why it helps acne; salicylic acid and adapalene (differin) should not be applied simultaneously

    I too have a grinding teeth problem. When I lived with parents my sister would always wake me up and tell me to stop grinding. Since I moved and lived with husband I don't know if I do it as often. He's a HEAVY sleeper. I mean it's hard to wake the man up. When I got pregnant w my daughter I had to learn to sleep on my back. I've been sleeping on my back for about 2 yrs now. Hopefully I don't grind anymore. Who knows...sigh.

    Yes, sleeping on my back has saved my face. I was sleeping on my left side for years. I would wake up with my left eye puffy and a deep wrinkles around my left eye only.
    It took a while but after sleeping on my back for a while my left eye showed improvement. The wrinkles are still around that eye but not as pronounced.
    So much better.
    You can usually tell what side a person likes to sleep on. :)
    Oh and sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase isn't comfy at all. I'm slipping all over the place.

      Lauren Baptiste have you ever come across traditional methods of cooking pulses? ie soaking them with an acidulant (some vinegar, whey, or lemon juice) to remove pic avid and other naturally occurring anti-nutrients? The night before the morning you want to cook up your lentils, Cover them with a lot of water, and splash in some vinegar, give it a stir, and leave it covered on the counter overnight, then rinse thoroughly and cook as usual the next morning. You won't BELIEVE how amazing they taste!

    I must say I was getting into the video intro music. Nice change. Your curtain looks good. I hope one panel is enough. Brilliant idea to sleep on sofa to train for back sleeping. Tempurpedic makes a pillow specifically for training for back sleeping. I had a friend tell me about it just last week. Do not know how much it would cost. Most people have a couch . You looked very relaxed at the end of the video. I enjoyed the bottom line with the silk pillow. I always thought that was a myth. : o )

Glad you are enjoying and hope you have a great day.

    Hello Dr Dray! Found you in UA-cam by chance few weeks ago and having being watching you since... Would like to ask you a question about blackheads....Searching the net for a product that can help to eliminate/minimize them, I couldn´t believe the amount of people also looking for a solution, but also the amount of products offering the right solution...oh, so overwhelming.... Would you recommend a product that can help fighting the blackheads? I don´t have that many but would love to see my face free of them...Maybe differin can do the job? Please help!!! Thank you!

    Your skin has been looking great - so use that as an excuse to continue exploring the "dusts." Did you say that it took you about a year to adjust to back sleeping? I must do this as well; I grind my teeth so badly that it (along with age) has caused my dental composites to crumble. So I've had a number of them replaced sooner than I was hoping. I wear a night guard but the back sleeping could only help as well. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      Well..another back story to it is that that couch is so comfortable and didn't need to be "made up" every morning, like a real bed (just fold up a blanket and go)..so I probably dragged it out longer than necessary. My dentist sold me on the night guard, but I can't stand wearing it.

    Hi, Andrea(Am I saying it right? :) I'm a new subscriber and loving your video so much!
    I got questions about your be loved Differin using instruction.
    I' m a surfer which means when I go to the beach I'm exposed to pretty intense sun light. Even if it's cloudy days I feel heat on my body and face.
    Of course I put on lots of sun screen.(I don't re-apply every two hr.....coz I'm floating in the middle of the sea so it's not easy to come back to the shore to do that, tho I wear the surf hat despite of being looking so uncool)
    So the questions are, can I use Differin(I do get pimples often -I think because of the food or the product I use. I have sensitive and dry skin) or any other Retinoid products?
    I don't surf every day except when I'm on the trip. I go to almost every weekend from May to December.
    And is it ok to use BHA , AHA products during that period? I have been using them only at night time.
    I just bought Neutrogena products, elta MD and Beauty Dust :)
    Oh, after put the Hydro boost gel-cream, can I use other serums and more moisturizer?
    I don't think one layer of cream is enough for my skin before sun screen.
    Thank you for reading. Ttu soon :)

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +3

      Hi! Thanks so much for your sweet comment! Since it sounds like you only surf on vacay then I would completly skip retinoid (adapalene included) and any aha/bha while on vacay and surfing out in the sun...then just restart when you get back. These ingredients make you sensitive to sun, and that level of sun can actually worsen any skin concern (acne/rosacea/aging/etc) over the benefit of the skin care ingredient.

    Forgive me for being a skeptic but it is hard to believe the ingredients in the Beauty Dust or the Power Dust could truly make any difference. Pearl dust? Really? And one ingredient in each of these is said to be "under study". You can buy the astragalus root by itself if that is the magic ingredient for much less money than the Beauty Dust. The Power dust lists two types of ginseng which can be purchased and an ingredient "under study". I have to wonder about the placebo effect here. Cheers!

    Did it end your bruxisme? I also have strong masseter muscle but my jaw-surgeon injected botox. Really helps a lot.

    I’ve never heard anyone claim sleeping on a silk pillowcase was anti-aging. From my understanding it doesn’t absorb your gunk and dirt like cotton does and is easy to keep clean. It also is cooler in temperature.

    Hi, there! I was asking you yesterday about age spots. I have already watched your video (well, a whole bunch of your videos :)) My dermatologist recommended me to use Enlighten from a company called Neostrata. It's pretty darn expensive so that's why i was searching for an affordable alternative.

      María Baute thanks! Sunscreen is also important. While it won't fade dark spots it can prevent them from getting darker or from more coming

    Gut it out and buy the second curtain. Sleep is worth it. (You know how frugal I am and I would spring for the second panel)

      A second panel will help avoid a halo of light on either side of the window. It might not bother you, but it depends on how much sun actual hits that window. I have 8 foot, south facing window that in the very bright LA summer, make me feel like I live sun adjacent. 😜

      Vanessa Puckett not that I know of 😕

      Vanessa, I had my lids done (upper blepharoplasty) because my visual field was impaired. I compare it to living with an awning over your eyes. Immediately after surgery I saw the ceiling for the first time in my life without deliberately looking up at it. Astounding difference.

    I have to learn to sleep on my back. I have SI joint issues that are being exasperated by sleeping on my stomach with my leg up. Two days of sleeping on my back. Less SI pain, no sleep.

      Leslie Engel I was so upset my urban outfitters didn't carry any of the dusts. They looked at me like I was crazy when I asked them for it. It's more expensive too on the Amazonian. Do you all know of anyone else that would carry it?

      look on line

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      You can buy directly from their site for $30...but you don't get an ebates rebate like you might with amazon, and you would have to pay shipping and handling. I wish they would expand to trader joes and whole foods at least (and hopefully costco...though that is wishful thinking hahah!).

    I tried your couch back sleeping method. Well I rolled on my side and like a crazy person I would wake up and go to the other end of the couch to get on my other side. So I guess I am and will always be a side sleeper.

      has to be narrow enough of a couch that you fall off if you roll over :)
