  • Saturday, November 3rd 1973.
    Reuters Text:
General Idi Amin, President of Uganda, arrived in Kenya on Saturday (3rd November) for a visit of two days. The Ugandan leader was expected to spend most of his time in Kenya in talks with President Jomo Kenyatta.
President Kenyatta, a guard of honour and a group of children, met General Amin when his "plane touched down in Mombasa, a Kenyan coastal town. After inspecting the guard of honour, the two leaders drove in a motorcade to the State House in Mombasa. The streets were lined with more than 200,000 people, who'd turned out to see the Ugandan President.
Several days before the visit, General Amin outlined the points he intended to bring up in the talks with President Kenyatta. He said he would discuss his recent trip to the Middle East. General Amin also said he would tell President Kenyatta about his talks with President Nyerere of Tanzania, regarding the East African Community.
Other topics expected to be covered by the two leaders were the strengthening of unity between Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Zaire and Zambia, and the modernisation of the East African Federation. General Amin said he'd already discussed this point with President Nyerere and was "confident that it would materialise."

It is rather strange how many people have asked what year this was:
The title of the video gives you the month and year, while the first line of the description box gives the precise date i.e. including the day of the week.
That is the way virtually all the videos on this channel are presented.

First you have to think where the description box is. Next you have to click there. Then you have to look at the text and read it then decide whether to complain or not. Nah that's too hard. Easier to complain.

This really takes me back. I was twenty in 1973, living in a single room in Naivasha, six months into my new job at the water department, tusker beer costing sh. 2.30, a packet of Embassy 2.00, a kilo of beef at 1.60, petrol at 1.20 a ltr, and my house rent at 120.00 a month. And my pay at the end of the month? 360.00. Those were the days!!

The title of the video gives you the month and year, while the first line of the description box gives the precise date i.e. including the day of the week.

Lol , General Idi Amin was just a military man who believes in military ,and he respected that so much , as you can see for yourself , whole time in the car , he's saluting .
A very active and just part of the story of him we haven't heard , ONLY the negative side of him , but HIDING some of the good things he did in Africa .
Yeah , an African Origin should ONLY be recognized by portraying him with crime , so sad .
