As you've been away from the Championship for a fair while you wouldn't have seen how bad the officiating has gotten in recent years. It's a disgrace and an embarrassment to English football! Was at the game and still scratching my head about it even after watching these highlights! Sargent is onside when the free kick is taken as he’s the first player to touch the ball after keeper saves it, he then plays the ball backwards but yet it’s called offside🥴
First thing that went through my mind soon as I spotted it! Saved someone getting sent off in my book,because you couldn't trust this ref for sure, he was absolutely shocking today!🙈...... I've been watching Norwich for well over 40 years now and in all that time I can't think of another game when we've been so blatantly robbed by so many absurd refereeing decisions in one match. Scandalous.
The worst refereeing performance I've seen go against us was Tranmere Away in League One. I can't believe it wasn't properly investigated, it was that blatant that the ref was cheating in favour of Tranmere, most likely a favour for Mike Dean!

Last season Norwich had one penalty all season, despite some stonewallers. In one match the Saints get two extremely soft ones. There is no consistancy from referees. It's easy to say its sour grapes but something has to be done. P.S I hate VAR, it kills the atmosphere.
Great match. Norwich scoring goals again, a new squad a new season. One thing the boss needs to improve though is the Norwich defense, they need to be more confident and steadfast. Wishing Norwich City FC a really great season.
@@TheHesK9 that’s just one mistake during the game. There were fouls on saints during transition where you scored etc. if your goal would have counted we would have scored another as the tempo would have had to be different.

I was there - mad game. Seeing our defending again is uber-cringe. Leaving the guy totally on his own from the corner is even worse than Manning passing it to them in the penalty area. A few new defenders (and goalkeeper) would be very welcome.

What's even worse was the free kick that put the cross in for the penalty wasn't a foul. The Southampton player ran into Dimi's leg, jumped into the air and rolled around. Just like the dive for their 4th goal. Russell Martin's been teaching them the dark arts of simulation.

Pen was very soft but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Very impressed with the attack so far this season but the fact is that you can’t concede four goals away from home and expect to pick up all of the points. Defence needs to improve. Very sloppy on the ball at the back… Still, I think we’ll all take four points from these opening two fixtures and now we’ve got a run of games that look pretty favourable on paper.
4 goals in a single game is too much for a team battling for the title and promotion. From the first weekend games, I would say that at the moment, Leicester City is in the best shape. Hope Norwich will fight for the title too
I'm unbiased... hoping that both these teams return to the Prems. And the 2nd penalty didn't look at all "soft" to me. Guy was staggering forward ( with every chance of recovering and scoring ) when he is clumsily flattened from behind. Surely nothing else the ref could do? Whereas the 1st penalty was a travesty.🤭...

Anyone saying that this is a roberry, either weren't at the game or are a bit deluded. Yes we played well, looked great on the counter and scored some really good goals. But for large parts of the game Southampton dominated possession and their consistent pressure resulted in us making some avoidable mistakes. A draw was a fair result and I'm really looking forward to this season. The lads did incredibly well away from home against a team who are one of the favourites to go up. OTBC!

We had half as many shots as you and the same amount of goals. We had half as many shots on target and the same amount of goals. Yes the defending should have been better but we were much more clinical and that last penalty was very soft.

Barnes’ goal should have counted too. In Newcastle villa game Isak scored in the same type of situation and VAR was fine with it.
